USS America
[edit]I am not posting this to advertise. What I am doing is trying to find out if anyone has any info on this USS America steamship mentioned on an eBay auction. [1] Either the seller is inaccurate or this list of USS America's is inaccurate. I would like to have this ship included in this list if anyone has accurate info about it. --JAYMEDINC 17:44, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
The steamship
[edit]The link to Amerika refers to a ship that was scrapped in 1899 or something like that. How did that ship play any part in the first world war? This reference to another Amerika ship needs further explanation. --Dj245 20:49, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
USS America?
[edit]This article states the USS America (1861), was part of the Stone Fleet sunk at Charleston, South Carolina. But the Stone Fleet article states the USS American (1861) was part of the Stone Fleet. One of these articles is wrong. Since USS America (1861) page does not exist, I believe it is incorrect. Does anyone have the facts? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Legohead1 (talk • contribs) 03:30, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- Apparently even the US Navy doesn't know. There is reference to the same ship but under two names, first America and then American. This is most certainly the same ship so I have redirected everything towards USS American (1861) and left notes where needed on the naming confusion. --Brad (talk) 16:02, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
