[edit]On March 20, 2008 HMM-261 flew its last Flight on the CH-46 helicopters. The Flight was piloted by Commanding Officer LT. Colonel James G. Flynn of Fripp Island S.C.
On April 11, 2008 HMM-261 will stand-down and will become VMM-261 Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 261.
