Speedy Deletion Dispute

[edit]

The Wasted Penguinz are indeed notable. They have been played on some of the largest radio shows in the scene and are an essential part of Scantraxx, playing on the Scantraxx World Artists Tour. They also have an upcoming booking in Australia at a major festival. They have something like 5000 facebook fans, 7000 youtube subscribers, and are an essential part of the modern Hardstyle scene.

Facebook fans and youtube subscribers do not make a band notable. Your sources are not what are considered reliable sources. They certainly verify that the band exists, but they do not prove notability. Had the above been in the article, that would save it from a speedy deletion because it would be a claim of notability, but it would not save the article because the band fails general notability guidelines and WP:BAND, a specialized guideline for bands. The booking in Australia may perhaps make them notable if it is an international tour, but not if it is a single booking at a single festival.--v/r - TP 16:13, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If I may, I would like to point out that it follows the following:

  1. Has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network. (They have done sets on fear.fm and even won several spots on the top 100 hardstyle tracks of 2010 chart)
  2. Has become one of the most prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city - The Wasted Penguinz are the largest representatives of the Hardstyle scene in Sweden, and are some of the only non-Dutch artists on Scantraxx records.

That may be true, but do you have any reliable sources to verify it?--v/r - TP 22:29, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
