Margaret, Maid of Norway
- ... that 3-year-old Margaret, Maid of Norway, inherited the Scottish throne after her grandfather Alexander III broke his neck in a haste to spend the night with his new wife? Source: [1]
- ALT1:... that historians debate whether the child queen Margaret, Maid of Norway, should be counted among Scottish monarchs because she died before reaching Scotland?

Hook eligibility:
- Cited: - AGF on the source for ALT0, but it is cited differently in the article (Duncan instead of Barrow) and does not mention that Alexander broke his neck "in a haste".
- Interesting:
- Other problems: - ALT1 could be trimmed down quite a bit. I also think another hook discussing the thirteen-man succession dispute would work.

Overall: A small issue with ALT0, but I greatly prefer it over ALT1. SounderBruce 21:50, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Both Duncan and Barrow recount the death of Alexander III. All the cited authors do. I chose Barrow for easier verification (the free preview I linked to includes the relevant pages). Do you think the haste should be made explicit in the article or trimmed out of the hook? Any suggestions for trimming? Surtsicna (talk) 23:49, 6 February 2020 (UTC)
- Using a more neutral term like "traveling" would be fine for ALT0. As for ALT1, I see it as "...that child queen Margaret, Maid of Norway, died before reaching Scotland and her place in the list of Scottish monarchs is in dispute?" to put the subject and most important fact at the front. The citation issue is taken care of, so I'm giving this the tick and leaving it up to you or the queue builder. SounderBruce 05:04, 7 February 2020 (UTC)
