Dr. Asish Banerjee[1] is an Indian Politician and Minister in Charge for Department of Agriculture in the Government of West Bengal. He is also M.L.A of West Bengal Legislative Assembly. Elected from the 291, Rampurhat (Vidhan Sabha constituency) for four times.(term 2001,2006,2011 & 2016).

Early life

Asish Banerjee was born in Birbhum District in West Bengal ,he was complete his B.A,M.A degree from Burdwan University ,Mr. Banerjee subsequently complete his Ph.D degree at the same university. During this period he was elected General Secretary of University Students Council.

Career

           After he completing his  at Burdwan University , Mr. Banerjee  began his career as a Professor of Bengali at Rampurhat College under Burdwan University.

He was elected as M.L.A from Rampurhat (Vidhan Sabha constituency) in 2001 and subsequently reelecred from same constituency in [[2006], 2011 and [[2016] Dr. Asish Banerjee first time sworn in as a Minister of State under chief minister Mamata Banerjee on 2013 and alloted the indipendent charge of Department of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy . next year he was nominated for M.I.C. Department for Biotechnology,Department of Statistics & programme implementation
