Giordano Beretta was a principal data scientist at Samsung Semiconductor, working on imaging pipelines and training machine learning algorithms for automotive applications. Previously he was a senior scientist at HP Labs, mostly working on color imaging. In the past he worked at Burroughs, ETH, Xerox PARC, and Canon. Qualifications: diploma (master) in mathematics (probability theory, mathematical statistics, high performance computing) and doctorate (Ph.D.) in computer science (computational geometry, human-computer interfaces). Fellow of the IS&T and the SPIE. For several years instructor at the USPTO in Alexandria (Virginia) and member of the board supervising the IM2 Programme on AI (machine learning, speech analysis, meeting analysis) of the Swiss National Science Foundation.
