[edit]- One route segment
Highway X (AR X, Ark. X, Hwy. X, and [Road name]) is a/n (north–south / east–west) state highway in ([County, Arkansas] if only one county, otherwise use NW, N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, or central Arkansas, or use MSA if entirely contained within). The route of 0.01 miles (0.016 km) runs from [Hwy. Y] in [town] (north / east) (add if route crosses a major route or major river: across [Hwy. Q] / [River]) to [Hwy. Z] in [town]. (Ref) The route is maintained by the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT).
- Two or more route segments
Highway X (AR X, Ark. X, Hwy. X, and [Road name]) is a/n designation for (two, three, four, etc.) (north–south / east–west) state highways in ([County, Arkansas] if only one county, otherwise use NW, N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, or central Arkansas, or use MSA if entirely contained within). One route of 0.01 miles (0.016 km) runs from [Hwy. Y] in [town] (north / east) (add if route crosses a major route or major river: across [Highway Q] / [River]) to [Hwy. Z] in [town]. (Ref) A second route of 0.01 miles (0.016 km) begins at [Hwy. A] in [town] and runs (north / east) to [Hwy. B] in [town]. (Ref) A third route of 0.01 miles (0.016 km) begins at [Hwy. A] in [town] and runs (north / east) to [Hwy. B] in [town]. (Ref) Both/All routes are maintained by the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT).
- Short connector routes
Highway X (AR X, Ark. X, Hwy. X, and [Road name]) is a/n (north–south / east–west) state highway in ([County, Arkansas] if only one county, otherwise use NW, N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, or central Arkansas, or use MSA if entirely contained within). The route of 0.01 miles (0.016 km) serves as a connector from [Hwy. Y] in [town], running (north / east) to [Hwy. Z] in [town]. (Ref)
- Spur routes
Highway X Spur (AR XS, Ark. XS, Hwy. XS, and [Road name]) is a/n (north–south / east–west) state highway spur route in [town]. The route of 0.01 miles (0.016 km) runs from [Hwy. Y] (north / east) to [Hwy. Z].
- Business routes
Highway X Business (AR XB, Ark. XB, Hwy. XB, and [Road name]) is a/n (north–south / east–west) state highway business route in [town]. The route of 0.01 miles (0.016 km) runs from [Hwy. Y] (north / east) to [Hwy. Z].
Former routes
[edit]Location | Hwy XX to Highway XX if known, otherwise (City) to (city). For a very short route, I just put (City) |
---|---|

Notes
[edit]NHS
No segment of Highway 263 has been listed as part of the National Highway System,[1] a network of roads important to the nation's economy, defense, and mobility.[2]
AADT
The ARDOT maintains Highway 261 like all other parts of the state highway system. As a part of these responsibilities, the Department tracks the volume of traffic using its roads in surveys using a metric called average annual daily traffic (AADT). ARDOT estimates the traffic level for a segment of roadway for any average day of the year in these surveys. As of 2017, AADT was estimated as 240 vehicles per day (VPD) near the southern terminus, 670 VPD north of the Highway 121 intersection, 920 north of the St. Francis County line, and 2,500 in Palestine between I-40 and US 70.

For reference, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), classifies roads with fewer than 400 vehicles per day as a very low volume local road.
