Shortly after, announcing 10,000 gecs tour 3, which consisted of four shows in Australia and New Zealand (including one unannounced DJ set), and 10,000 gecs tour 5, which was set to take place across 14 shows in Europe.

Controversies

[edit]

Coachella

[edit]

100 gecs was a performer at the 2022 Coachella festival. During the first weekend, the group was cut off halfway during their song "Money Machine".[10] Some speculated that it was because of prior artists playing at the event for too long, citing that their set was already running 20 minutes late.[11]

Gecapalooza

[edit]

Following Lollapalooza, 100 gecs had scheduled an afterparty entitled "Gecapalooza", which was set to take place on July 27, 2022. However, the event was unexpectedly cancelled. Many fans were upset at the group after making travel plans.

10,000 gecs tour 5 cancellation

[edit]

On May 23, 2023, the duo announced 10,000 gecs tour 5, which contained 14 shows across Europe. However, around late June, the entire tour was cancelled without any announcement. Initially, reception to the move was disappointment, and some discontent over the lack of any statement. However, on July 11, the group announced they would be opening for Boygenius at the Hollywood Bowl on October 31, 2023. Many fans were outraged over the fact that an entire tour was cancelled with no prior announcement, only to schedule another show. Shortly after, the duo apologized for the tour cancellation and the lack of any announcement, citing that they were "physically and mentally worn out".[12]
