Hello! My name is John and I'm a fellow Wikipedian since 2022.
Inspiration
[edit]The first article I edited is the Nokia Lumia 735. It was simple copyediting, but it made all the difference. I have always been fascinated with the ease with which you can make Wikipedia a better place. It might be a very simple, not even noticeable correction, and it could even have the audience of one person only – but it's certainly not unnecessary. I have edited many pages here; some have been difficult and some - easy. I mostly edit computer- and software-related stuff, my favorite being pages about obscure and old mobile phones. I had edited only 6 articles when, searching for something, I discovered that the English Wikipedia did not have a page for Microsoft Whiteboard. And so, I decided to create it. "How difficult can it be", I said to myself. At that time, the page was a draft with only one sentence in it, and I wrote the remainder, then submitted it. In the process I read many guidelines in Wikipedia and learned new things. I'm sure it wasn't perfect, I'm sure it had mistakes, but it was an improvement. Don't be afraid to edit Wikipedia, don't be afraid to make mistakes, don't be afraid to be made fun of - when you're right, you will always be right. When you're wrong - you should confidently admit it regardless of the situation you're in. And remember: just a simple touch here and there is enough. After all - it's us people who build this encyclopedia and the more we contribute, the better it will become.
