Lyn Marie Cunliffe was born in 1962 as Lynn Marie Smith to Rita and Edward Smith in Bolton which was at that time part of the County of Lancashire in the UK . She married John Anthony Cunliffe in 1984 and became Mrs Lynn Marie Cunliffe.She has a HND ,a BA hons degree and diplomas in Classical studies and European Humanties .Cunliffe uses Lyn Marie Cunliffe for her proffesional work. She has two children and currently resides in Yorkshire . Lyn Marie Cunliffe is a UK based author and educator .She is also a self taught costumer who uses costumes to bring history to life for variouse groups. Cunliffe began professional writing in 2011 her first work being a short play co writen with Ian Howard and performed at Ferndean near Haworth .It was well recieved and reviewed. Cunliffe is well known online for her costume work and her designs largly due the the striking photographs of her costumes taken around Yorkshire in famous locations such as Haworths Mainstreet or Wycoller country park .The photographs which were taken by her husband John Cunliffe gained an international following. While not her main area of study in 2011 her research on the Brontes came to the attention of many bloggers and she became a respected online authority on the more domestic elements of the Bronte sisters lives.Cunliffe potrayed Charlotte Bronte for a short BBC bigscreen Bradford video and on stage in "A Bronte Christmas Carol at Ferndean Manor while she also read extracts of Jane Eyre in the rooms of the Bronte Parsonage during the 2011 pre release screening of the Cary Fukunaga Jane Eyre Movie. Cunliffe while well known among costuming and Bronte circles online became more widely and internationaly famous after her work was covered (with several inaccuracies) by national and international press and news sites ,first the storys and later Cunliffes feisty response attracted the attention of those outside of her normal circle. She has recently begun work on a longer work "In Their Own Image" and branched out from period costumes into contempory designs using period detailing and vintage fabrics.
