Michael Januario (born in 1984) is a hip-hop artist from Boston, Massachusetts, United States, better known by his stage name M-Dot. Before becoming a rap musician, Januario was a widely sought after high school basketball player. Later playing in college at BHCC & MCLA respectively.
Career
[edit]Born in Boston, Massachusetts, M-Dot...regularly tours to Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Having toured Europe with Lawrence heavyweight Krumb Snatcha. [1] An underground audience from frequent collaborations with a varied assortment of legendary & buzz-worthy rap groups, & consistently touring Europe, have built M-Dot's following.
In 2008 was named to Stuff Magazines Hot 100 [2] M-Dot performed at the 2010 Winter XGames in Tignes, France. M-Dot won both major hip-hop music awards in 2010: The Boston Phoenix Best Hip Hop Act, [3] and Boston Music Awards Hip Hop Artist of the Year. [4] He then went on to win Hip Hop Dependancy "Artist of the Year 2011" [5]
M-Dot reached number 2 on RapAttackLives.com [6] college radio charts and finished fifth in vinyl sales in 2010 at undergroundhiphop.com. [7]
In 2008 M-Dot was given the honor of "2 Dope 2 Sleep On" by 2dopeboyz.com. [8] He went on to receive excellent reviews for his mixtapes Money Doesn't Own Thought (2009) from DigBoston.com [9] and Making Doubters Over Think (2010) from the Boston Globe. [10] His third installment in his acronym series, More Doubters Over Thinking was also well received. [11]
M-Dot garnered more accolades for his collaborative effort, Run MPC, with DJ Jean Maron. [12]
M-Dot can also be seen acting in the comical sitcom "What it is", which stars & is also produced by Makzilla & Krizz Kaliko (of Tech N9ne's Strange Music).
