Backround

Mr.Sorhun was born in Istanbul. He studied Finances at Dokuz Eylul University. After taking his degree he went to France in order to continue advanced studies.

In 2003 he was admitted by Sorbonne University (Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne) for Master of International Economics: Development and Transition. He focused his researches on the Transition Economies, shifting from socialist to free market system. In his master thesis, defended in 2004, he analyzed the impacts of oil funds on the economies of Azarbaijan and Khazakhstan.

In 2004 he was admitted by Strasbourg University for Ph.D. of European Union Studies. Mr. Sorhun defended his thesis that is entitled "Integration of Turkey to the EU in the Light of the Three Regularity of Geographical Economics"(written in English) in 2008. Using the arguments of Paul Krugman in this doctoral thesis, he developed an econometric model based on Geographical Economics in order to evaluate the Economic Convergence of Turkey with the European Union and question Turkey's accession to the Union. During his Ph.D. he also taught Micro&Macro Economics, Math and Business Management at Strasbourg Institut of Technology (IUT de Strasbourg) and Faculty of Economics and Management.

Mr. Sorhun is an assistant professor and a member of Bureau of Theoretical and Applied Economics (BETA) at Strasbourg University.
