Why undoing my work on Springsteen discography

[edit]

Please see my comment in Talk:Bruce Springsteen discography about your undoing of some of my work. Wasted Time R (talk) 11:42, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See Talk again ... please show me the FL guideline or discussion that says that there has to be a "—", and that it's not permitted to distinguish between "no release" and "release but did not chart". These are two very different things! Wasted Time R (talk) 12:04, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Renaming templates

[edit]

Please don't move templates from Template space to article space. In the first place, it's wrong, and in the second place, you're messing up redirects, you've got double redirects going on. Corvus cornixtalk 21:58, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocking

[edit]

Hi. After your note on my talk page, I took a glance at your userpage and discovered that you have evidently been formerly blocked for sock puppetry. As near as I can tell, you were blocked as recently as June 18th, as Black On High (talk · contribs · logs · block log), about a week before you created this account. I don't see any sign that you've communicated with the administrator who blocked you, User:Rudget, as required by the blocking policy. Did you discuss the matter with Rudget? His note here suggests that he would have required persuasive reasoning. If you were able to satisfy his concerns, a link to his agreement to your unblocking would be sufficient to alleviate my concerns. Otherwise, as Rudget is on Wikibreak and may not be easily contacted, it might be necessary to take the matter to the administrator's noticeboard to determine if it is appropriate that your block be lifted. Simply returning to editing is inappropriate, although I appreciate from the notice on your userpage that you are evidently operating in good faith. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:29, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you don't know how to do. :) Bring the matter up at the administrator's noticeboard? The first question is whether or not you've talked to the administrator who blocked you. Have you done so? If not, I may be able to help you address the matter at the administrator's noticeboard. I would first check, though, if the administrator who blocked you cares to weigh in notwithstanding his break. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:35, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good enough. :) Thanks for clearing that up. I'm going to add a link to that in the box on your userpage so that it's clear that you have permission from the blocking admin. And, again, good luck with your Wikiproject. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:52, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject

[edit]

Thanks, but I'm currently volunteering at the copyrights problem board, which eats up the majority of my on-wiki time. I'm also often involved at WP:Album. But if I find myself with more free time on my hands, I may wander over and see what your project is up to. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:30, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Rock

[edit]

That's funny... I thought I had signed up earlier (I still have that userbox on my userpage...). Anyways, it's official now.

Some questions about this project:

  • Is WikiProject Metal completely separate from this project, or is this considered a "parent" project? I noticed a lack a featured metal articles on the WikiProject Rock page (although there are some featured metal discographies).
  • How does an article get to be on the list of featured articles/lists on the WikiProject Rock page? I noticed there weren't a whole lot of featured lists (where's list of U2 awards or list of Nine Inch Nails live-band members)?
  • Who should I speak with to get that odd hyphen out of list of Nine Inch Nails live-band members? That's been bugging me for a while, as there doesn't seem to be a good reason for a hyphen there?

Yup... I'm full of questions. Xnux the Echidna 13:48, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pardon my interjection, but I'm still watching this page. :) With regards to the last, you move it. This has evidently been questioned before. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:07, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Your talk page. :) When I leave a message for someone, I watchlist their page for a while. As the header at the top of my talk page notes, I generally keep conversations in one location. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:11, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lostprophets' fourth studio album

[edit]

Albums aren't usually considered notable until a title, track listing, and release date are known. This article had a proposed deletion here. I had a small discussion with the user that proposed the deletion. The result was keep the page intact, but turn it into a redirect to the Lostprophets page where information was available until a title, track listing, and release date were released. Wellwater Conspiracy is alternative rock

[edit]

Please take a look at their allmusic page if you don't believe they are alternative rock. Alternative rock bands can take a variety of influences. Wellwater Conspiracy is an alternative rock band that takes as its influences garage rock and psychedelia. You may not know the definition of the word "specific", but alternative rock is definately more specific than just "rock." Why must you always start trouble? Please don't answer me back. I don't need to see your user name on my talk page any more than it currently is.-5- (talk) 23:49, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Talkheader not necessary

[edit]

Just wanted to leave a quick note that the {{talkheader}} banner should really only be used on pages where it's needed - where there is a lot of discussion and/or a heated debate. Articles like Talk:The Dicks probably don't need it. Thanks! -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 05:42, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SOMMS

[edit]

The SOMMS album cover is actually the Badmotorfinger album cover. When Badmotorfinger/SOMMS was released, SOMMS was just included as a second disc. That link that you provided that says it's the SOMMS album cover actually looks to be the SOMMS promo postcard, which can be found here.-5- (talk) 23:59, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Money Chart Listing

[edit]

Hi, in the Pink Floyd discography, How come you have "Money" listed as hitting #13 on the UK Singles Chart. It never charted there. The song hit #13 in the US. See here and here. Where's your source that it charted in the UK? Note that "Billboard Pop Singles" and "Billboard Hot 100" are two different names for the same thing. Doc StrangeMailboxLogbook 01:53, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing that, but I would also like to know where your sources is for "Wish You Were Here" and "Comfortably Numb"'s UK Chart Peaks came from. From what I know, after "Point Me to the Sky" and until "Another Brick in the Wall, Part II", Pink Floyd did not release any singles in the UK. I also believe the "Us and Them" chart peak is from the US from what i'm seeing from previous revisions. For the longest time, this discography only had three spaces - US, UK, US Mainstream Rock and when it was changed to the worldwide chart, maybe a couple chart peaks got confused. I do like what you've done to the page, however. It looks alot better than it did before. Doc StrangeMailboxLogbook 14:07, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but on That very site's introduction page, it mentions that the "§" symbol by both "Comfortably Numb" and "Wish You Were Here" signifies a placement on the download chart. Would you make a footnote to mention that this chart peak comes from that chart, and in 2005 - several years after the releases of both singles?. Velvet Revolver discography

[edit]

Well I think my edits made the article much neater. Also, B-sides should be on discographies, that's why they are a parameter in the discography template! Andre666 (talk) 14:16, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rock music WikiProject

[edit]

I'd like to invite you to join the newly-formed Rock music WikiProject. There's alot of Rock-related articles on Wikipedia that could use a little attention, and I hope this project can help organize an effort to improve them. So please, take a look and if you like what you see, help us get this project off the ground and a few Rock music pages into the front ranks of Wikipedia articles. Thanks! --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 13:24, 9 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the kind invite, but I'm not much of a joiner here and don't do much anymore with music pages, as I usually only do anti-vand edits to them. Appreciate the gesture though! Kresock (talk) 22:48, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. BBHS

[edit]

Hello. First of all, thanks for the invitation to the wikiproject, i am going to say yes. About the Bryan Adams discography, in the Grammy section, you wrote "nomination" instead of "nominations", and Let's Make a Night To Remember was a nominee in the Pop Field and in the Rock Field the nomination went for "The Only Thing That Look Good On Me Is You".

Thanks once again, Jaespinoza (talk) 22:10, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Rock and roll" seemed pretty redundant to "rock". WesleyDodds (talk) 02:43, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of #1 Modern Rock Hits

[edit]

Could you please change the WikiProject Rock template on all the List of #1 Modern Rock Hits by year to the Alternative template? Modern Rock is simply another term that basically translates into "Alternative rock". Not "rock". Thank you. NSR77 TC 01:53, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bryan Adams Discography and other credits

[edit]

Hi, thanks for the note, I think you should put the information back in that you edited out, or find a way to put it in the discography as it's all valuable and very comprehensive information. Michelle1 (talk) 05:32, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

FLC

[edit]

Sorry I could not respond to the FLC as the FLC director closed it due to grammatical errors. Like he said, you should open a peer review for it so the next time it can pass. :) Best, --SRX 16:17, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed I did. It was in poor shape. Also, for your directors question, you need to reference all videos otherwise the list is incomplete and not 100% referenced. If you can't do it then I suggest you request the list be withdrawn. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:32, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In that case I shall look into delisting it. For a list to be complete it needs to be complete and referenced. Simple. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:41, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I bet you Beatles references are easy to find, but not on the internet. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:53, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Was there any specific sentences the reviewer pointed out that should be fixed? or was it mainly fixed after you completed the suggestions? I can't pinpoint what else needs to be done. And thank you. :) −₪ÇɨгcaғucɨҲ₪ kaiden 22:39, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
For a list, it has relatively a short list of references, is there a possibility of adding more refs?--SRX 13:16, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I see no difference, what I mean was that the article only has 13 references, and for a list of this nature more refs should be used. Also, in some double references, you need to put them in order. For example, in one of them it is as followed [13][9] when it should be [9][13]--SRX 14:45, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Forget about it, it's nothing major as the info is verifiable.SRX 15:00, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I finished the discography cleanup for him but I have one question: "and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song" - did he win or was he just nominated? −₪ÇɨгcaғucɨҲ₪ kaiden 20:13, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'll take a look later. I'm a bit busy with things at the moment for that kind of job. −₪ÇɨгcaғucɨҲ₪ kaiden 17:02, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well, all I can say to that is I was so deadset on reverting the guy that I completely forgot about the three-revert rule. Although I was in the right, I forgot the most important thing, and that is not to break the three-revert rule and to edit war. It's also a one-time thing for me so I set it past me. −₪ÇɨгcaғucɨҲ₪ kaiden 17:11, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

BA introduction

[edit]

is that your edit from the intro page? if so, sorry if we are back and forthing on that! if it is yours, you are repeating information that happens in the next paragraph, and also, adding words like "decline" are subjective, since BA had a number one album this year with "11" in many countries around the world, that isn't exactly a decline. Michelle1 (talk) 22:17, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would prefer if YOU fixed the introduction and kept it about things that aren't repeated in the next paragraph. also i can give you TONS of info on the 18 til i die tour, but you need to fix this first. I personally think my intro is great as it sets up the article, but i'm open to your suggestions. Michelle1 (talk) 00:46, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hey, i think all the grammy information isn't relevant in the introduction of this page, can you reduce that? Did you see i added information to the 18 section?Michelle1 (talk) 02:49, 18 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

August 2008

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Bryan Adams. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Fair Deal (talk) 16:04, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Adams' awards

[edit]

Sorry BBHS but there's so much to be done here, the Juno, Golden Globe, Academy Awards are all missing, the references are inadequate, the grammar is still poor - I'm going to withdraw the nomination again. Please, please take this list to peer review, be patient, there's no rush. And come back when everything's fixed. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:08, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've got something against searchable databases? Yes, the references to a search engine are not specific. As for peer review not knowing what they're doing, not true. You don't give them time. There's no rush to get these lists promoted and if you nominate poor and incomplete lists I will quick-fail them. Just look at the volume of comments each of your FLCs gets - a sign that they're not ready for nomination, let alone promotion. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:24, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Well when you take it to peer review, perhaps consider asking someone from the FL community (besides me) to review it as well. FLC is not peer review, I don't know how many times I have to say it. When you bring a list there it has to be up to scratch. Searchable database is not good enough. Secondary sources are what you need, so newspaper reports, BBC, MTV etc to report on those Juno awards. Also you're still missing the Academy Award nominations and the Golden Globe reference is not specific. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:39, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Online newspaper sources. Anyway, if the list is incomplete, it's not ready. How you get it there is up to you and your esteemed colleagues at the various music projects. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:49, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Good luck with that. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:56, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Why was i blocked. I stopped to edit war yesterday, i added new sources and wrote a new lead as Michelle said i should, so why the hell was i blocked today, i got new sources for the genres which were all reliable, why the hell was i blocked. And here Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/3RR#User:Be Black Hole Sun reported by User:Fair Deal (Result: three days) he sais i was blocked cause i continued edit waring, which I DIDN'T. I'm not going to unblock you, because you were clearly edit warring. Also, placing hidden comments in the article, which effectively tell other editors not to undo your changes isn't good practice. WHat the hell are you talking about, i stopped yesterday, i replaced the allmusic with other sources, to stop the edit war and i replaced the lead, Michelle said i should write a better lead, which i did. What does a hidden comment, they do the same on the Paramore, Lostprophets and Linkin Park page, and you shouldn't replace genres which has sources with an unsources genre should you. Consensus, what the hell, when you have a reliable source, you don't need consensus, thats plain stupid. --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 13:51, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can post another unblock notice if you want, and you can email Michelle. However, you have been edit warring, so I won't unblock. PhilKnight (talk) 13:58, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Genres

[edit]

Just a word of advice. Ignore most changes to the genres in the infobox. I know it's annoying to leave something that may be wrong but focus your efforts on expanding an article - don't get bogged down in the minutiae. Just a hint. Sillyfolkboy (talk) 14:16, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lostprophets singles

[edit]

Let's straighten this out. I don't know what's given you other ideas, but the songs "We Are Godzilla, You Are Japan" and "I Don't Know" are not, and never were, singles. So they should not have their own articles, or be in the discography or infobox. U-Mos (talk) 21:09, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:WikiProject Russia

[edit]

Hi there, recently you reformatted the WikiProject Russia front page. Whilst this was clearly an improvement over the previous version, it removed a lot of content which is required by the project. As the design clearly is an improvement, albeit, it has been reverted wholesale (not something I agree with), would you be able to edit your design by including the content that was removed; either by placing back on that page or by placing on relevant subpages; and re-introduce the style which is all-inclusive of removed content. Cheers --Russavia Dialogue Stalk me 04:50, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Talkback

[edit]

Replied at my talk. Washburnmav (talk) 14:55, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a look at the before and after versions of the project main page, there were a whole slew of useful links that were removed. It should be fairly obvious which ones were removed in the process, but if you really want I suppose I could list it out at the project's talk page. Cirt (talk) 15:12, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added a list of things to the project talk page that you removed from the project's Main Page with zero discussion about any of the changes. Perhaps we might be able to work with this, but I really wish you would have brought it to discussion first before removing so many useful things from the Project Main Page and making so many drastic changes. (I could understand if some of the things you had removed had been inactive pages, but that seems not to be the case). Cirt (talk) 15:32, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No worries, it was just jarring and yes I think it would have been best for you to discuss such major changes first. Don't worry about it, I will help with making the changes. Cirt (talk) 15:39, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please take a short break and give me a moment to work on the project page and then reassess? Cirt (talk) 16:01, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, well please just give me some time and then we can discuss. Cirt (talk) 16:06, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, sorry about being a bit brash about this whole thing earlier - I want you to know I really do appreciate the changes you've made. I was able to integrate some of the things from the older version and I think that the main page of WP:RUSSIA looks really really good now. Thank you, Cirt (talk) 16:42, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
