If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Aminu Maida requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Dear Reading Beans,
Thanks for your feedback and I sincerely appreciate it. However, I do not think your statement "it needs more sources to establish notability" is accurate. I also think your removal of the article from mainspace to draft is unilateral, without allowing discussions on the article and its merit and notability given that other editors just like yourself, have made inputs to the article previously, and thus you should have allowed a more democratic discussion on the article between you and the other previous contributors.
For each of the attributions made, in every segment of the article, there was an independent source with sufficient treatment of the subject in question. Please can you provide a proof of any of the independent sources cited, not being relevant or sufficient? I would love to get your feedback on this.
I invite you to reconsider the decision based on the issues I have raised above. This article and any other one indeed can be improved, but there is notability already established in my honest opinion, and I invite you to provide more feedback where you think this is not so.
I sincerely thank you for taking the time to go through my contribution and look forward to your response.
Regards

Your actions

[edit]

Hello Cfaso2000, I have been here for 7 years now and your behaviour towards my contributions ain't a surprise to me as I expect to see all kinds of behaviour especially in a public community. As a newbie who knows nothing about Wikipedia ANI you reported me base on what I feel you have gone to my talk page to read about which of course is a past between I, safariScribe and Vanderwaalforces and thought of ANI will be the best for you. You needed me blocked so badly but unfortunately it didn't work out for you. Then you had to ping me and other editors on your article AFD about Paul Oluikpe for another review which I intentionally did not respond because the page still hasn't been addressed. Why is it always you?. First of all, it was a misleading template of a new user to your article on your talk page like it was approved. Now its another IP who has been mentioned as a sock two months ago coming to your article to vote keep and going to other article of users who have been blocked such User:TheChineseGroundnut to vote keep on their article AFD. Not only doing that but argue with everyone just like you to other editors who voted deleted on the article. I see what the IP has been doing Special:Contributions/102.164.36.86 but thats by the way. Maybe when reading my talk page you didn't go through the line of those who also came to warn me, ended up being blocked and was tag as a sock of which I was surprise because I never thought they would be. Wikipedia is not a place where if your article gets AFD because of that you choose to fight back. Don't think am like you who protect article they created by themself on AFD because of maybe the effort being put. You can go ahead and start nominating and I bet you wont see me there because I don't push article to mainspace. it's either drafted or on review. On wikipedia, it's just all about peace and doing what is right in good faith. Creating more suspicious behaviour may lead to your account being blocked as I see your contributions look like a newbie. So I will advice you stay calm and understand what Wikipedia is all about before warning people who are here before you all because your article was nominated for an AFD. Those who did are already blocked. Wishing you the best. Gabriel (……?) 16:41, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I come in good faith my brother. Please calm down. This has nothing to do with you nominating several of my articles for deletion. I do not seek a tit-for-tat. Any article I would nominate for deletion I would take time to research and see if I can improve it and if anything else fails, then in good faith I would nominate it for deletion. Please calm down. I respect your age on Wikipedia and clearly you are older than me here. I have a lot to learn from you. I come in peace. Respect. Cfaso2000 (talk) 16:49, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Cfaso2000,
No editor likes their content creation nominated for deletion discussions. The atmosphere at AFDs can get very heated. I encourage you to work in Draft space and submit your draft to Articles for Creation for review rather than moving articles directly into main space or creating them in main space. It can be difficult to get an article approved by an AFC reviewer but they are spending their time to save you the headaches of having your articles nominated for an AFD. Their mandate is to decline any drafts they believe won't survive an AFD discussion and approve articles they think would make it through an AFD. So, you can hear their opinion on what your article needs, improve it and resubmit without fear of your draft being deleted. It's a slower process but it avoids the possibility of going through multiple AFD discussions which can be stressful. Good luck. Liz Read! Talk! 02:15, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see from your User talk page that you have submitted articles to AFC in the past so you are familiar with the process. So, I guess I want to encourage you to return to doing this. Liz Read! Talk! 02:17, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dear @Liz this is well noted and thanks for weighing in. Most regards Cfaso2000 (talk) 05:18, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

When you and another editor disagree badly ...

[edit]

... when you have presented logical and policy based arguments, please decide to walk away. No good ever comes of a grudge fight however correct each party believes themselves to be. An example where you ought to have walked away is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ada-George Road. Even if you believe the article has no verified notability (I will not comment on the article itself) the history between you and the other editor (I have not pinged them, but have, elsewhere, given them this same suggestion) suggests that there is a serious disagreement between you both.

While you are free to reply to this message, which is not intended as a discussion, please also consider it to be a warning to consider your actions, and to return to being a collegial editor.

Please note that, in my opinion, that AfD was not policy based, and should not have been opened, certainly in that manner 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 07:39, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

+1. Please listen to Timtrent and drop the stick. I’m a Nigerian and I can count a handful of Nigerians who contribute here and I wouldn’t want to lose you. I’ve mentored some seasoned editors here from Nigeria, so, you can reach out to me when in doubt. Best, Reading Beans 07:46, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your mentorship has already started with this candid advise of yours. Thank You. Cfaso2000 (talk) 16:45, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Timtrent thank you for stepping in here. I appreciate your feedback and sincerely would take it on board. I am here to contribute to the wealth of knowledge and not to pick fights. You won't see that from me again I promise. As a new member, I felt under siege after an old and established member picked off three articles of mine in quick succession, and seemingly took issue with "my effrontery" to upload articles directly to mainspace without going through the rubrics of an AFC. His concerns are quite legitimate, but pursued and expressed in "unwelcoming" terms. I am here to learn, contribute and collaborate. You have my pledge on this going forward. Thank You. Cfaso2000 (talk) 16:43, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
One important thing is that AFC is not compulsory. It is intended to help people by allowing experienced reviewers to guide less experienced editors. You have an absolute right to create directly in mai space or to move any suitable draft article to main space. For the next short while I think this experience shows you might be unwise to do so, but equally, well, who am I to judge?
I'm glad you will work out how not to get into that situation again. Africa, and Nigeria in particular, needs good quality, collegial, level headed editors 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 18:51, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Oluikpe

[edit]

Paul Oluikpe was deleted some few days ago (a day ago?), what is the reason of speedily recreating it at Draft:Paul Oluikpe? Please, refrain from creating the article until a reasonable timeframe. Best, Reading of Beans 05:13, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please, go through this discussion to see why it was deleted. As I advised you earlier, read through the list of unreliable sources sources in Nigeria which you have used in this biography of a living person. Best, Reading of Beans 05:21, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies I had recreated this. I took some time out to read the notability guidelines (1) GNG (2) People (3) Books (4) Academics and the more I read it the more I was beginning to think that the subjects I write about, especially Paul Oluikpe, meet on a general note, these criteria(especially on Academia and GNG. So in my heart I was convinced to recreate the article. I also read through these guidelines that you may need only a few independent sources, and then support with a generality of other sources, and that this would not be injurious to the article. I now know I may have interpreted these wrongly. I do recognize that you and the rest of the other colleagues who weighed in have been here a long time and have familiarity and practical knowledge of applying these guidelines. So accept my apology. I will drop this article for now until sometime in the future to see if more coverage would emerge. I am delighted to have had a good success rate in the articles I have created here. I would continue to broaden the subjects I write about and also get more familiar with the applicable notability guidelines. Imeela. Cfaso2000 (talk) 13:03, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
