Active Members ./. wikipedians with this scope

[edit]

Hi Digitallymade, i had a look to members of this projekt. Regrettably, you're one of the few actually active wikipedians with this scope as I've found by your edits. Maybe you find some pleasure in watching this discussion. Best regards --80.187.109.37 (talk) 12:13, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Per our policies regarding open proxies - your VPN will not be unblocked full stop. It appears you can edit from home fine. You MIGHT qualify for IP Block Exemption in order to edit via VPN - and more information (including how to apply) can be found at WP:IPBE. SQLQuery me! 05:58, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

I am now using a complete secure system for access to the internet including, but not limited to a VPN, and Protonmail.com which is a secure end to end encrypted email service. You seem to be blocking me only when I use my VPN. I hope you can unblock my access in this regard, else I will not be able to participate any longer

Digitallymade (talk) 22:56, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

You are not blocked and none of the IPs that show up in a check are blocked. You would have to supply the blocked IPs for us. "You seem to be blocking me only when I use my VPN." Then the answer would be to not use the VPN when editing WP. It looks like you have both IPv4 and IPv6 access available.

my blocked ip with VPN on is 192.96.200.0/21 Digitallymade (talk) 02:13, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
now it's showing 207.244.64.0/18 blocked. Is this based on my secure email or my vpn Digitallymade (talk) 02:31, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My VPN is showing 207.244.209.179 and goes through a router prior to that. This is also shown by whatsmyip.Digitallymade (talk) 02:33, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
There is a problem that the VPN may use a different IP everytime I shut it down and reload it.Digitallymade (talk) 02:35, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
My vpn is currently off and is telling me my ip is 73.173.219.238. When I enable it, it can pick several different vp hosts, mostly in Virginia and I found the one ending in 179 and reenabled it the last time. My vpn comes on with the computer. Digitallymade (talk) 03:01, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I am at home. I also sometimes travel with a laptop. And I also use an Iphone. 99% of my editing of Wikipedia is from home on a desktop. Digitallymade (talk) 03:31, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Are you able to edit with 73.173.219.238?
 — Berean Hunter (talk) 03:36, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that is what usually loads when I am replying to this. Digitallymade (talk) 03:39, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Usually loads? What do you mean? For the present, edit with the IP that you can use. I'm about to turn in as it is after 1 a.m. here. I'll try to respond tomorrow.

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. I am glad to see that you are discussing a topic. However, as a general rule, talk pages such as Talk:Silencer (firearms) are for discussion related to improving the article in specific ways based on reliable sources and the project policies and guidelines, not for general discussion about the topic or unrelated topics, or statements based on your thoughts or feelings. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. Thank you. Dennis Bratland (talk) 17:05, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion is relevant to a topic on this talk page. I don't appreciate your censorship of this topic. Wikipedia IS coming under examination for it's bias just as Facebook and Google are. You seem to be supporting a point of view that denies the facts. Digitallymade (talk) 17:11, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from using talk pages such as Talk:Silencer (firearms) for general discussion of the topic or other unrelated topics. They are for discussion related to improving the article in specific ways, based on reliable sources and the project policies and guidelines; they are not for use as a forum or chat room. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. See here for more information. Thank you.

You are welcome to post a *concise* suggestion for a change in the article and CITE SOURCES that support it. Please do not post long arguments that are simply repetition of the NRA’s press releases. Dennis Bratland (talk) 17:14, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Retired

[edit]

The censorship on this site is oppressive and politically biased. So I am retiring, again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Digitallymade (talkcontribs) 17:23, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please consider: you accuse journalists and others of making ignorant claims about firearms, without bothering to understand the topic. But you're bashing around Wikipedia, knocking over the furniture and acting the fool, without bothering to understand what is happening. Educate yourself and you will be less frustrated.

Here's my suggestions: In case you missed it, the topic of "silencer" vs "suppressor" was discussed at Talk:Silencer (firearms)#Requested move 24 February 2018. If you're suggesting reversing that decision, I think you should try to understand the reasons it was made, and consider why you think the near-unanimous support for renaming the article would be changed now. Please read the citations in Silencer (firearms)#Terminology, particularly the dictionary definitions that say "silence", "muffle" and "suppress" mean the same thing. "Silencer" was not made up by liberal media; it was used by the inventor in 1909. Suppressor wasn't used until 1985, and it was rarely used until 20 years later. I provided quotes of many gun media article in the collapsed section, and they are very consistent with the news media reports that the move to the euphemism "suppressor" only began in the 2010s, and prior to that, gun experts used the terms interchangeably. No gun experts who think "silence" means "100% inaudible" provide any evidence for that. If you have any to cite, please cite them.

The difference between using the talk page to improve an article, and using it as a soapbox is focus. Focus on a specific change you want to make in an article, and give concise reasons and reliable sources that support it. Do not try to kick of a huge debate, and do not try to right great wrongs.

If you want to change other editors' minds about a past decision, rather than ignore you, then first try to understand the reasons why they made that decision. --Dennis Bratland (talk) 17:37, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please explain...

[edit]

You redirected SIG Sauer M18 to SIG Sauer M17. Hmmm. Are you sure that is a good idea?

If SIG Sauer M18 is a topic that could potentially merit a standalone article then guidelines recommend leaving it as a red-link.

So, is it a topic that merits a standalone article? I dunno. I admit I am not knowledgeable enough about guns to know this.

I just read the article on the Sig P320, which referred to the SIG Sauer M17 and SIG Sauer M18. I frankly found all the explanations as to how the two models differ confusing. "Carry model", what is that? Is one model smaller than the other? Are there other differences?

Do you yourself know how the two version vary? Geo Swan (talk) 05:47, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Blaser Firearms listed at Redirects for discussion

[edit]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Blaser Firearms. Since you had some involvement with the Blaser Firearms redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Stefan2 (talk) 21:22, 14 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Browning BDA / SIG P220

[edit]

I've just proposed Browning BDA Handguns (or handgun in current condition the entry is) to be merged to SIG Sauer P220 as a specific version of the latter gun. I know you've had a grievous break-up with wikipedia and such, but I'm just giving you a heads up if you want to give your two cents on the matter.
