جونتان سويسفت

كان رجل الانجلو الايرلندي جونتان سويسفت (30 نوفمبر/تشرين الثاني - 19 أكتوبر تشرين الأول 1745) كاتب مقالات، ومفكرسياسي (انتب لحزب اليمنيون أولا ، ثم لحزب المحافظين) وكان شاعرا ثم أصبح رجل الدين الذي عميد كاتدرائية القديس باتريك في دبلن. ويتذكره الناس لأعماله الراقية مثل: سفريات جاليفر، اقتراح متواضع، مجلة لستيلا، رسائل درابيا، وكتب من المعركة، حجة ضد إلغاء المسيحية، وقصة حوض. كما كان سويفت على الارجح أول من استخدم اسلوب الساخر في نثره في اللغة الإنجليزية، وكان أقل شهرة في شعره. كان اصل جميع نشرات وأعمال سويفت تحت أسماء مستعارة – ليمويل جولفر،إسحاق بيكرستاف، درابير م ب أو تحت اسم مجهول. كما ان سويفت مشهور بكونه فنان من الأسلوبين الهجاء: اساليب هوراشيان والجوفيناليان.
