[edit]Hi Eric -
Welcome to Wikipedia, Small world! I'm fairly sure I know you from Flickr. I hope you enjoy your time here as an editor. David, aka Petrichor MidgleyDJ 03:55, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, like your pics there. Hint: I am a piece of bread. —BoL 05:58, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Hi Eric--
I have a question about the beautiful photo of Columnea flexiflora you posted. Where did this plant come from, and did you receive it under that name? The flower looks very similar to the plant I have seen under this name (see this photo), but the foliage is completely different. MrDarwin 16:02, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
A friend here in the Bay Area grows the plant. It was tagged under an older synonym, but I don't recall the synonym now. I'll have to check with the friend, but I think the plant came from Ecuagenera, the big orchid grower from Cuenca/Gualaceo, Ecuador. --Eric in SF 16:16, 28 October 2006 (UTC)
I like the new picture that you put in the article. The frills and coloration suggest that this too is a picture of the cultivar 'Leonard Frisby'. Can you confirm that? Bob 20:53, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
Yes, I'll check with the Strybing and see if they have cultivar info in their accessions DB. --Eric in SF 23:51, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
While you are at it (and since you take such good photos) perhaps you could provide a photo of a different R. occidentale where the foliage is visible (and typical). I would not object to a (discretely done: similarly to the R. decorum) column of photos on the rhododendron page and the R. occidentale page. Bob 01:20, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
Absolutely stunning picture! Thank you so much for contributing it! Terry Bollinger 03:04, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Odd question time
[edit]I see you uploaded an image of the fountain at the Civil Rights Memorial in Montgomery. I'm rewriting Emmett Till's article. Would you happen to have an image of his name and description on the memorial that you can load? He died in 1955, btw. I checked out a bunch of images on Google last night. Most of them concentrate on dates in the 60s, I'm guessing, because the wall with King's quote is directly behind them. Better photography and whatnot. --Moni3 (talk) 15:04, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Dichaea glauca
[edit]Hello Eric in SF, can you help here: Dichaea glauca ? I can not check, whether the picture shows Dichaea glauca or Dichaea intermedia. Greetings and thanks. Orchi (talk) 12:11, 26 March 2011 (UTC)
Hello. You removed a section from the Great Lakes article, for all the right reasons as far as I'm concerned. I've found that this IP added pretty much the same information to a ton of articles, and I'm working on cleanup. There's no doubt in my mind that this is a kind of plugging possibly by the authors, and what's bothersome also is that the reference is not a reliable source. If you feel the urge or you're bored, please have a look at [Special:Contributions/149.162.242.164]]. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 19:51, 9 October 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for February 20
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Seattle Central Library, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Arup. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

[edit]Problem with your custom signature
[edit]You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.
The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.
The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.
- Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
- Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. 19:04, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

It's a small world of Southeastern botanists as it is, and an even smaller one of those who take the time to upload photos on Wikipedia. But even if it were a crowded field, your photos would stand out due to their exceptional, professional-level quality. I just wanted to show my appreciation for sharing your plant knowledge and skills to the world. Don't be afraid to replace my photos with yours whenever you see fit— I just can't compete! :) Masebrock (talk) 18:31, 18 January 2021 (UTC) |
Silphium asteriscus photo
[edit]Hi Eric, I the quality of your new Silphium asteriscus photo. The only problem, is that I believe it is actually Silphium radula. Arkansas is out of the range of S. asteriscus. (The treatment has been somewhat in flux recently- see the changes in the new Weakley's Flora). The large number of ray flowers, clasping stem leaves, and alternate leaf arrangement separate it. I can go on and move the image over.Masebrock (talk) 16:04, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
Please do! Theo and Brent also updated my ID for this on iNaturalist, completely forgot I uploaded it to wikipedia as well. Eric Hunt (talk) 19:28, 27 June 2021 (UTC)
