- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>
, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References== {{Reflist}}

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Hermosillo, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Black bear. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:03, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

- Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
- It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
- If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
- When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
- If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.

Cultivation sections in plant articles
[edit]Hi, these sections are somewhat tricky to write, in my experience, as it's easy to fail to follow WP:NOTMANUAL. Like all information here they must have a reliable source – a blog is not. Telopea speciosissima#Cultivation is an example from a featured article – obviously way beyond what would normally be expected, but it does show how to write cultivation sections. [edit]Hello, I'm JohnFromPinckney. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, The Monster Ball Tour, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — JohnFromPinckney (talk / edits) 12:07, 28 February 2023 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add or change content, as you did at Sparks, Nevada, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 15:59, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
- I've been looking at your recent edits, and I'm cautioning you to please stop adding "stuff you know". Wikipedia does not accept original research. Please stop. Magnolia677 (talk) 16:20, 29 April 2023 (UTC)
Information Without Reliable Sources
[edit]As @Magnolia677 and @JohnFromPinckney did previously, I'm asking you to please not add information without reliable sources to wikipedia as you did with Achillea millefolium on 20 May 2023, Euphorbia alluaudii on 8 May 2023, and Agave bracteosa on 7 May 2023. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the articles. If you cannot by 27 May 2023 I will revert your edits without sources. Your writing style is good and if you need help with learning how to find and cite sources leave a message here or on my talk page, I'm willing to help. If you do not want to do research or partner with someone who does research, please confine your edits to style, grammar, etc. MtBotany (talk) 18:50, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
- I am very disappointed to see that you have again edited an article, Crassula ovata, that do not have any references to support your edits. Just because you know a fact does not mean that it should go into Wikipedia without a way to confirm the reliability of the information that you are adding. Please stop. If this continues I may take this to Wikipedia:Dispute resolution because you seem not to want to engage with other editor's objections to your behavior. MtBotany (talk) 05:19, 22 May 2023 (UTC)
Ongoing Disruptive Editing
[edit]Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Inselberg. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively, you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. As noted previously by myself, @Magnolia677, and @JohnFromPinckney adding information to Wikipedia without sources is contrary to Wikipedia:Citing sources . As is adding information from self published sources like blogs as noted by @Peter coxhead. Please stop. If this continues it will be taken to Wikipedia:Dispute resolution.
