Tips
  • Don't be afraid to edit! Just find something that can be improved and make it better. Other editors will help fix any mistakes you make.
  • It's normal to feel a little overwhelmed, but don't worry if you don't understand everything at first—it's fine to edit using common sense.
  • If an edit you make is reverted, you can discuss the issue at the article's talk page. Be civil, and don't restore the edit unless there is consensus.
  • Always use edit summaries to explain your changes.
  • When adding new content to an article, always include a citation to a reliable source.
  • If you wish to edit about a subject with which you are affiliated, read our conflict of interest guide and disclose your connection.
  • Have fun! Your presence in the Wikipedia community is welcome.

Some suggestions

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia and in particular the UK rail related articles that you have been editing. To help you get along better (and to make our life easier) I'd like to suggest that you read MOS:NUM which gives guidance on how to format numbers, dates and times. In dates, for example, we don't do September 29th 2024, we do 29 September 2024. Also read the guidance above on creating references and how to use the {{Cite}} template. Finally note MOS:REFPUNC which states that references go after punctuation, not before.

Good job so far and don't hesitate to shout for help. You might want to join Wikipedia:WikiProject UK Railways and use its talk page for any help/discussions. 10mmsocket (talk) 08:54, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and consider removing your external links off your user page. Some admins take a dim view of such things and might delete the whole page as spamming. 10mmsocket (talk) 08:56, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for this feedback! I'll give these links a look to make sure things stay up to standard, and keep it in mind. And thanks for the hint for my user page, I'll get to that. FarmYard Gaming (talk) 12:34, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
