Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2005 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Jeff Fuller and Anthony Lazzaro. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:43, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. Thanks! Sandbox

[edit]

Please note that per WP:USERNOCAT, your user sandbox page at User:Finn Shipley/sandbox is not allowed to be filed in categories as if it were a completed article — it may be added to categories only when it is actually moved into mainspace as a real article, and must not appear in categories while it's in sandbox. I notice that I and other editors have had to come back and disable or remove categories from the page four times in the past month alone, so I'm advising you that it's absolutely not allowed to be in mainspace categories — and that's not an optional rule that you're free to ignore or disregard, but a mandatory one that you can be temporarily or permanently editblocked for disruption if you continue to break it. Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 05:12, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I note that once again, you have readded mainspace categories to your sandbox page two more times since my message last week. So, again, categories are not allowed to be on your sandbox page, and note that I will have to start considering temporary editblocks for disruption if I ever see it back in categories again. I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. I did this rather than removing the uncited material in the article, which I felt would be more disruptive. In addition, there is not enough in-depth coverage of him to show that he passes WP:GNG. Sandbox

[edit]

Just a reminder that, as I already noted to you in posts on this very talk page back in November, sandboxy pages such as User:Finn Shipley/sandbox are not allowed to be filed in mainspace categories as if they were completed articles — categories must stay off the page while it's in sandbox, and may be added only if and when you're actually moving the content into mainspace as a new or updated article. This is not a suggestion that you're free to ignore at your own personal whim, it's an absolute rule that you must follow.

I note, however, that I have had to come back and remove the page from categories again, on three separate occasions, since my messages to you last fall. So I remind you again, no categories on your sandbox page. Bearcat (talk) 15:52, 30 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation

[edit]

Hello Finn Shipley!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

Autopatrolled

[edit]

Hi Finn Shipley, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Aoidh (talk) 15:22, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that one or more recent edit(s) you made did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Tick Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! ☆ Bri (talk) 21:24, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries 2x

[edit]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! glman (talk) 17:49, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sandbox

[edit]

Just a reminder that user sandbox pages such as your User:Finn Shipley/sandbox are not allowed to be filed in mainspace categories as if they were already finished articles — categories may be added to the page only if and when the content is actually being moved into a real article, and must stay off the page so long as it's still in your sandbox.

I note that I or other editors have had to come in to remove the page from categories at least 11 times in the past year alone, and I also note that I have already pointed this out to you on your talk page on at least three prior occasions — so just a reminder that you must not place the page in categories, and there may be consequences if you continue not to listen. A tag has been placed on Tanner Arms requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tanner Arms. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 15:46, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

NASCAR Wikitables

[edit]

Hello @Finn Shipley, I see you make a lot of contributions in ARCA and NASCAR articles making great contributions, adding the results in the race results wikitables, but if it doesn't bother you I would ask to you to update also the Total races in their infobox at the beginning of their articles because it is complicated to update every driver and then it becomes outdated again, so if it doesn't bother you if you will still updating race results wikitables then I suggest to update their total races too to make it easy for you, other editors and the readers of the article...so me and others editors can update the drivers that have their total races outdated and don't run regularly. Deletion discussion about Kory Rabenold

[edit]

Hello Finn Shipley, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Kory Rabenold, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Kory Rabenold.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|TartarTorte}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Don Thompson (racing driver) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

Sandbox

[edit]

A reminder, yet again, that user sandbox pages like User:Finn Shipley/sandbox are not allowed to be filed in article categories, per WP:USERNOCAT. This is not an optional rule that you're free to disregard or ignore at your whim, it is a mandatory rule that must always be followed — but I've now had to remove the page from categories 11 times in the past year, twice in the past two days, and I have already posted to your talk page four times before to advise you not to file the page in categories.

Do not file the page in categories. And this is the last time I'm going to be nice about it, as well: if I find the page back in any categories again, I'm going to have to report you to WP:ANI for being disruptive. Bearcat (talk) 12:23, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
