Follow up on your post at the Village Pump (Miscellaneous)

[edit]

Hi, I mean this post - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(miscellaneous)#English_fundraising_banners_to_start_at_the_end_of_November (please let that section link work for once). I'm in the UK, and I've been seeing fundraising banners in October, probably about a week ago. Was that a different role out? Red Fiona (talk) 20:52, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Red Fiona,
You will have seen some banners last week (and maybe even in previous weeks) as we run test banners from July to the start of the campaign. The testing takes place ca. 1x per week and lasts between 3-6 hours. The actual campaign, when you will see banners much more frequently if you are not logged in, will start on the 30th of November. I hope this clarified your question (and yes the section link worked for me). JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 06:57, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, it does answer my question completely. Red Fiona (talk) 20:58, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals) has an RFC for possible consensus. A discussion is taking place. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments on the discussion page. Thank you. BilledMammal (talk) 15:14, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This RfC is not yet open, as it is waiting for the WMF to provide the banners they plan to run, but it was thought that it would be appropriate to notify you now. BilledMammal (talk) 15:14, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

2022 Fundraising Campaign banners

[edit]

Hi JBrungs (WMF),

A few months ago you agreed to provide a list of banners that you plan to run as part of this campaign, and that you would most likely be able to provide these in early November. Are you able to provide an update on when you expect to be able to provide them?

BilledMammal (talk) 13:47, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
Thanks for asking. We are currently running a one week low-level banner test in which we are testing some further messaging to hopefully be included in the control banners. We are waiting for the results of this test and I will share some example of banners (desktop large, desktop small, mobile large, and mobile small) on Monday the 14th on the Village Pump (miscellaneous). Best, JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 11:38, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.
Can you clarify whether, in line with your 15 September comment, you plan to provide examples of all banners you will be running? BilledMammal (talk) 12:37, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
As always, we will share example banners for each size (desktop large and small, mobile large and small) following this week's test, with the community next week. To improve throughout the campaign, we continuously test messaging and we will share test updates and new banners as we continue to test. JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 13:18, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi JBrungs (WMF)
That is disappointing, given your September statement. Will you at least provide all banners that you will start the campaign with? BilledMammal (talk) 13:24, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi JBrungs,

Do you still intend to continue with this test as planned? If you are, I ask you to reconsider as based on the overwhelming response to the RfC on the December fundraising banners I don't believe it would be appropriate at this time. BilledMammal (talk) 02:39, 16 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi JBrungs, I just wanted to follow up on this question? BilledMammal (talk) 11:46, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, we are going to run the low level weekend test which we announced earlier. The test will be crucial in testing new messaging as well as operational systems. You can always leave ideas for message testing on the fundraising talk page. JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 16:53, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi JBrungs. That is disappointing, and potentially disruptive per WP:IDHT. I've responded at the RfC on the December fundraising banners. BilledMammal (talk) 21:29, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
