WikiCup notice

The 2009 WikiCup will begin on January 1, 2009. The first round will run through March 31, 2009. For more information on this tournament, read the "about" section on the main WikiCup page.

This year, we have a different system in calculating points. At User:Garden/WikiCup/Submissions, you will find information about submitting your article (and other) work to earn points. Each contestant will have their own individual subpage for submitting completed work to us.

This year, User:ST47 will also be running one of his bots to calculate mainspace edits and read your submission subpages to calculate the point values you receive based on our scoring chart.

Questions or comment? Ask at the talk page or go directly to Garden or IMatthew's talk page. Good luck and Happy Holidays! -- ayematthew and Garden. 14:09, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice!

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/lustiger seth. Hi. Just as a heads up, a few people replied to your !vote there. I thought you might want to take a look at that. Thanks. jj137 (talk) 03:41, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice! I don't have anything to add to my statement. folks seem like they think this is a good idea, i don't. I think we have to many admins who don't do admining, we don't need to add more. Those who have signed up to be an admin have, imo, a responsibility to assist editors in making the project work outside of the creation and editing of articles. --Rocksanddirt (talk) 19:37, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
Indeed, I do see your point.   jj137 (talk) 20:58, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Happy Anniversary!

It has been one year already? That has gone fast! Here's to another year. Cheers, Caulde 21:07, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Indeed, thanks :) That year did go by extremely fast... seems like only a few months ago, really.   jj137 (talk) 00:20, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Re: Chapter 6

Dear "Jj137"

Please reinstate the article for the award-winning band, "Chapter 6." All of the information that was posted came directly from our website www.chapter6.com. Our top tenor, Luke Menard, was featured on "American Idol, Season 7." When Luke Menard made the top eight, male vocals, we found it necessary to creat a page on Wikipedia. The page helped direct fans to our website, and we are grateful to be touring North America, year-round. By reinstating our Wikipedia page, you will be providing credibility to an independent band which has worked very hard for the last seven years to establish itself as one of the most professional vocal groups in the country.

Respectfully,

CougarHeart (talk) 23:12, 23 December 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I really had nothing to do with that article; I just go through and delete old Prod pages. If you want to talk about undeleting the article, I would talk to Closeapple, who originally tagged it. Hope that helps.   jj137 (talk) 00:36, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Article

I have made the proper citation to the Dayton, Ohio article. I was the one that you had asked to make the citation for the Metropolitan figure in the article. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.187.75.154 (talk) 23:35, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

The College football WikiProject Newsletter
Issue XIV - January 2009
Project news
From JKBrooks85

Welcome to the latest issue of the College football WikiProject newsletter! I hope that you're enjoying regular updates about the goings on of college football on Wikipedia, but if not, feel free to add your name to the "no delivery" section on the newsletter signup page.

I encourage everyone to make regular visits to the College Football Portal and perhaps make it your Wikipedia entry page instead of using the Main Page as your gateway. Nominations for selected articles and pictures are always welcome, and can serve as a great way to show off that new article you just shepherded to Good Article status or the great picture you took the last time you were at a game.

Comments and suggestions on improving the newsletter are always welcome, and help me improve it on a monthly basis. Keep contributing and editing, and don't hesitate to contact me or post on the College Football Wikiproject talk page if you need help or just want someone to look over your article.

Haut-Rhin

Hi, I see you've been adding infoboxes to the articles about communes in the Haut-Rhin department. Are you planning to add content to the infoboxes? You can copy that from French wikipedia, see Template:Infobox French commune/doc#How to copy an infobox from French wikipedia. Markussep Talk 11:00, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

*slaps self in the face* For some reason I didn't see that... I am intending to go back and add info though. I just thought it would be helpful to put the infobox templates there first, but maybe that wasn't the easiest route. Thanks for telling me.   jj137 (talk) 12:18, 20 January 2009 (UTC)
OK, your help is appreciated! Markussep Talk 12:35, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

Typo redirect Template:Hgarrypotter

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Template:Hgarrypotter, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Template:Hgarrypotter is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Template:Hgarrypotter, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself.
