He loves us so he'll never leave, have a look at this IP (see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/46.198.119.87), in Zé Vítor, which i'll cleanup tomorrow (too tired now), he added C.S. Marítimo B as a youth club, as he tends too. In Orlando Sá he added the italics in box (already reverted that one, TWICE).

Your knowledge is required

Hi Kosmo, Long time no speak. Hope you are well and keeping out of mischief. The Olympic volunteering was hectic, and the Paralympic one is just getting into full-swing. Not easy trying to juggle wiki-activity and London 2012 duties equally, but I'm getting there somehow. Anyway, I thought I'd contact you to see if you would mind taking a look at Talk:ABU Song Festivals 2012 please. There was a very long debate took place over there recently, regarding article content, and why WP:ESC have decided to place the events under their project scope. So was hoping, seeing as you have more knowledge on this side of thing, if you would have a glance over and perhaps add some input that I may have missed. Thank you in advance. Wesley Mouse 16:27, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Look who's here! Hope it all went splendidly in the Olympics! I'll certainly take a look, but not now - tomorrow evening I'm returning home for a few hours and I'll do every "hard" Wikipedia job then. Now I'm on my phone with a crappy signal, even struggling to reply to your message. Cheers. Kosm1fent 16:38, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

About Atromitos F.C page

Hello(Καλησπέρα αν είσαι Έλληνας),

I think i made just one change to a number of a player(Kostas Giannoulis)if i remember correct. It happened to watch the last game against Newcastle and the player wore #3 not #19,perhaps it is only for the european games,i don't know... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moonchild88 (talkcontribs) 15:29, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Moonchild88 (talkcontribs) 15:39, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Moonchild88 (talkcontribs) 16:29, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi again. We probably think more about the issue of Club Notability criteria more than most. The AfD challenges that I have made recently have been made as a backdrop to the the work that I have been undertaking on Club Notability. I have been on holiday for the last 3 weeks so have not made much progress recently. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated as we tend to be "on opposite sides of the spectrum". I have tried to move towards the middle ground in order to achieve a general consensus. It is probably a hopeless task but at least it is giving me a much better understanding of football league systems across the globe. There are some errors in the table e.g. the China Amateur Football League should be excluded. I would also like to include a RSSSF column in the table. Any thoughts on my work to date? I recall you using the term "Grey Area" in connection with Delta Ethniki! It is very much work in progress and I would like to iron out as many gremlins as possible before I forward it to WT:FOOTY. Kind regards. League Octopus (League Octopus 18:39, 29 August 2012 (UTC))

I am satisfied with Greece's criteria, the country that I know best. Delta Ethniki should indeed be a grey area, as some clubs may pass GNG criteria but most don't. What I don't agree with is the first section, specifically the last paragraph ("Attention has also been given to other factors:..."), as none of those 4 factors conveys notability and therefore should not be considered at all. Cheers. Kosm1fent 16:14, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Antony1821

Hi there mate, thanks for reverting the wikiscum (nothing more, nothing less, he even THREATENED!). But you could leave the two seasons instead of just one (as you did in Nuno Miguel Prata Coelho, the loan is supposed to be SEASON-long). Some say if we leave two seasons it looks like the player's spell is over with that team, i think not, the intro would make sure we knew what club was the current one. Just a thought...

Happy week as well - --AL (talk) 16:39, 2 September 2012 (UTC)

    • Greetings. I'd love to help you find a suitable source, but I'm afraid I wouldn't know where to look, as US sports is not my specialty. You can, however, look for one yourself. Template:fc

Hello.

Why does template:fc need subst-ing, when it makes no difference, and why did you revert, when you in your edit summary noted exactly that?

HandsomeFella (talk) 08:19, 22 September 2012 (UTC) (answer here, not on my talkpage).

Ok, I think I've got it now. But still, why should it be subst-ed? It saves a lot of space if it's not subst-ed. HandsomeFella (talk) 08:24, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, I neglected to point you to the template's documentation, my mistake. As for the substitution I don't know, but I think it might be for accessibility reasons (screen readers?). Cheers! Kosm1fent 09:19, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Many thanks for your advice to date which has been invaluable.

I am nearing the completion of my work on the Club Notability Tables. Your views on the work to date would be appreciated - in particular any advice on the removal of any obvious gremlins. I will be creating a Miscellaneous section in the tables where Kosovo, North Cyprus etc can be considered. I also propose to move non-FIFA members such as Niue to this section. There may be issues that you do not wish to raise at the moment and I respect that you may hold back some comments to the formal consultation. Any advice on how to conduct a WP consulation would be appreciated. I am sending this communication to Number 57, GiantSnowman, Kosm1fent and Mentoz86. Panathinaikos F.C.

Can You Help? What's the rule for the Full name in any football club? I've seen a lot of them in wikipedia and i havent figured it out. for example Bayern has a full name Fußball-Club Bayern München e. V. which is german and many teams use their full name in their language

I know it's weird to put only the greek name in but ΠΑΝΑΘΗΝΑΙΚΟΣ ΑΘΛΗΤΙΚΟΣ ΟΜΙΛΟΣ translated in english isn't panathinaikos fc

the club goes with Π.Α.Ε ΠΑΝΑΘΗΝΑΙΚΟΣ Α.Ο in the official website how do you translate all this in english? Panathinaikos Athletic Club P.A.E?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zaravakos (talkcontribs) 21:33, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Greetings. You are actually right, the fullname should be the one in the club's native language indeed. The problem lies at the Greek alphabet, which is hard to read for non-Greek speakers, and thus it should be romanized per MOS:FOREIGN. In this case, Panathinaikos' fullname should read Panathinaikos Athlitikos Omilos (in italics). Cheers. Kosm1fent 05:29, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Panathinaikos

Hope that you enjoy the Skoda Xanthi vs. Panathinaikos match. My local side Bury Town F.C. have recently signed a Greek goalkeeper, Alex Rossis, who has experience with the reserve team of Panathinaikos. Do you know anything about him? Kind regards. League Octopus (League Octopus 10:37, 7 October 2012 (UTC))

I did enjoy the match, thanks friend! However I would enjoy much more if we didn't have to sit behind the goal and if I was allowed to take photos... Idiots. Anyway. I searched for the goalkeeper, and it appears that your media is wrong. xD According to this article, Alexandros Rossis is 1.87m tall, he was born in Corfu on 9 July 1987 and started his career in 2005 for Rotsa F.C., which is not really the reserve team of Panathinaikos – it's a football academy led by a former Panathinaikos legend Juan Ramon Rocha who is currently the manager of Panathinaikos U20, but I see no connection between those two clubs. Anyhoo, he played for Rotsa FC in the local Athens Football Clubs Association leagues for 3 years until 2008, when he moved to Corfu-based Delta Ethniki side Kronos Argyriadon. In 2010, he moved to Pyrsos Grevena F.C., who was supposed to compete in the Football League 2 but they was folded before the season began and appeared in the Delta Ethniki instead. Apparently he was a regular there with only 11 goals conceded, until he moved to England to train with Barnet FC in December 2010. The article, dated 24 June 2011, says that Alex was considering two trial offers from Bury Town and Bath City FC. From then and until today I can't find anything about him, dunno if he really played for Chelmsford or did the compulsory army duty. Could as well. :P Kosm1fent 07:21, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
Oh, this player seems interesting. In September 2011, Arta FCA (level 5) side Anagennisi Arta announced his signing, but couldn't receive clearance to play from the HFF because he "had a contract with an English club". Perhaps this club? So the case seems clear; in July 2011 he moved to Chelmsford City, then he left for military duty and later he returned to Chelmsford. Kosm1fent 07:47, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
Thanks ever so much Kosm1fent for the details on Alex Rossis - the photo in the article is certainly Alex! This is brilliant!! Using your material I will do a little write-up on Alex for our club programme if you do not mind? I will also put another article up on our forum.
Interesting that you were not allowed to take photos at Skoda Xanthi - never heard of that one before. Our restriction is not taking beer glasses out of the clubhouse! My most recent match was at Whitehawk FC last Tuesday where only 50 people turned up. Despite the low attendance Whitehawk F.C. have a number of ex-Football League players and beat us 1-0. League Octopus (League Octopus 08:01, 8 October 2012 (UTC))
Of course, be my guest. :) As far as the Skoda Xanthi situation is concerned, I don't know under which juristiction they forbade me to bring the camera inside. The ticket wrote that videotaping from unauthorized personell is forbidden, which makes sense because the club earns a shitload of money from TV rights. However, it said nothing about taking photographs – especially for "personal use", and I saw people with compact digital cameras inside the stadium, not to mention the modern cellphones with now-extreme photo and video taking capabilities. So what, my 120-Euro Fujifilm camera is too professional because of its size (18x optical zoom lens)? Discriminating much? Anyway, sorry for ranting, but my day was quite interesting, from the game inself to the eventful roadtrip from Thessaloniki to Xanthi and back. :P Cheers. Kosm1fent 08:13, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi there KOSM, longtime no "see", all well?

I need your assistance in this article, since i did not finish my cleanup, left it in a mess because of the following: could you please translate what does the last reference is talking about so i know exactly what use to make of it in the last "storyline attack"?

If you could also add a source for his three-year contract with Panachaiki i would be forever in debt with you my friend :) I spoke fluent Greek in another life, but not in this one :(

Regards, keep it up and happy week - --AL (talk) 14:09, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Oh yay, the reference claims nothing like what it cites in the article. It just says that Jordao was having knee surgery and that he would stay on the sidelines for two months. The bit about the Panathinaikos match is completely unreferenced. Also here is an article from SportDay (a daily newspaper) about his Panachaiki move. Cheers, and have a jolly week as well. :) Kosm1fent 14:23, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
  • Ah, maybe a misunderstanding...i was asking for a specific translation. What does "Δοκιμάζεται ο Σιλά" mean in English please, so i can use it as title for the ref? Ah, and while you're at it, could you also translate the title of the new link you sent me? Cheers! --AL (talk) 14:36, 21 October 2012 (UTC)
    • "Sila on trial" and "Diogo Jordao a "rossonerri". :) As for the Antony1821 front, things have been suspiciously quiet so far. Cheers (and sorry for the belated answer, it was coffee/match time)! Kosm1fent 20:18, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi there KOSM,

thanks for "assaulting" my page :) I am going to keep cleaning up this piece overall, looking up for some refs in Spanish. You could do the same man in Greek, for his transfers to Leva and Veria please.

NOTE: please do your "job" this evening or tomorrow, i am going to start NOW and save some for the afternoon if i can't finish before lunch. In that way we avoid edit conflicts.

Kind regards, have a great one! --AL (talk) 12:58, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Yup, I'm going to look for sources and add them tonight. Cheers! Kosm1fent 13:08, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
  • You can start when you want, i'm done with my part. Funny guy the chap who created the article, forgot (forgot?) to say he was SENT OFF in his debut (per transfermarkt.com at least he was! You'll surely find a ref for that game in Greek, especially in Veria's web), but did not forget to write "he is one of the best goalkeepers in Greece" and "his performances are stunning". Oh well...

Cheers as well --AL (talk) 15:41, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

  • More: it reads in REF#5 (don't know about your Spanish skills but you can trust me) that he was a SPANISH UNDER-15 international, nothing about U21 "appearances" ("Ha sido internacional sub 15" means "He was a U-15 international"), so don't know where Panos got that from. --AL (talk) 15:49, 2 November 2012 (UTC)
