License tagging for Image:SaintStapanous5.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:SaintStapanous5.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Changes to Tabriz Article.

[edit]

Copied from Tabriz discussion page: Hi, I have noticed that some changes have been made to Tabriz Article. Generally I think this way it's better. This makes the article shorter and more pleasent to read. But I have some points to make: 1. I think The city of firsts section is important enough to remain in the main article. As the case is in the Persian version of the article. 2. The issue that Tabriz is the city of firsts in Iran is not what Tabrizis believe. It's a documented fact. 3. Shortenening the list of famous Tabrizis in Tabriz article and moving the remaining names to a seperate article may be arbitrary in that which names should remain in the main article. A better way of cleaning up this section may be categorising the list and allowing all names to remian in Tabriz article as it is done in Isfahan article. 4. Besodes in articles about other cities all famous people are included and the list is not shortened. So either we should follow the suit in Tabriz article or there shoud be a wikipedia clean up policy which applies the other cities as well.

Please discuss these points so that we can decide weather we should restore the article to the previous versions or not. Regards, --Faucon7 21:07, 29 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Ibn Sina Tower.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Ibn Sina Tower.JPG. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Khodavand 02:38, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A great image! Would you consider also posting it to the Wiki Commons ( http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Upload ), so that it could be also used in other languages' Wikipedias? (Note that an image posted to the Commons can be used in the English Wikipedia -- or any other Wikipedia -- in exactly the same way images posted to en.wikipedia.org can).

The same applies to other photos you may want to post in the future. With best regards, Vmenkov 20:27, 21 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question about Seghatoleslam

[edit]

Hello, I noticed you contributed alot to the list of Tabrizis, and I noticed Seghatoleslam was on your list. I believe this name is in my familys history yet I can't find alot of info about this individual. I've heard some stories about things he's done, but I really cannot find any source online except for this list you have here, where he's mentioned as a "nationalist cleric".

I have found a picture of him here http://www.azarpadgan.com/no11/images/seghatoleslam.jpg

And I also found there was a street in Iran named after him.

If you could let me know any additional history that you may know, I would be glad to hear it, thanks.

Hi, Seghatoleslam was one of the Iranian nationalist at time near to the constitutional revolution. He was one of the reformist cleric shiaas muslims. He has been hanged by Russian troops with 12 other Iranian nationalists. He is buried in Maqbaratoshoara, Tabriz. You can find more information about him on: Fugy Tabriz, by Mohammad Saeed Ordubadi Part of the story is about him and to whom has been hangeed with him (in its recent translation to Persian by Raeisi Nia there is a foot note about him). There is also a TV movie by IRIB2.

Thanks for the very helpful information :). For a long time I couldn't find anything about this relative, as I was born in the U.S but my family is from Iran. Would you know by chance what movie IRIB2 made or where I can watch it? Thanks. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Persianguyagain (talkcontribs) 16:29, 11 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]
I will ask from somebody the name of the movie. Also the grave of the seghatoleslam is in the entrance of maqbaratoshoara at Tabriz. I shall made picture from it when I went to Tabriz (1 month later). you can also contribute with me by email.
Thanks very much, I will keep in contact :) Persianguyagain 11:47, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you uploaded Image:Arvand-Iran.JPG, you did not specify complete source and copyright information. Another user subsequently tagged it with {{GFDL-presumed}} and, for some time, it has existed on Wikipedia under the assumption that you created the image and you agreed to license it under the GFDL. This assumption, however well-meaning, is not legally sufficient and the tag is being phased out. Images using it are being deleted.

This image has been tagged for deletion and will be deleted in one week if adequate copyright information is not provided.

If you, personally, are the author of this content, meaning that you took the photograph yourself or you created the chart yourself (and it does not use any clipart that you did not create), please retag the image with a free image copyright tag that correctly describes your licensing intentions, usually {{GFDL-self}} or {{PD-self}}. Please also make sure if you have not already done so that you write a good description of what the image depicts, when you took the photo, and other important details. This will allow Wikipedia to continue using the image.

If you did not create the image or if it is derived from the copyrighted works of others, please keep in mind that most images on the internet are copyrighted and are not suitable for use on Wikipedia. Wikipedia respects the copyrights of others and does not use images unless we know that they have been freely licensed. Any creative work is automatically copyrighted, even if it lacks a copyright notice. Unless the copyright holder has specifically disclaimed their rights to the image and released it under the GFDL or another compatible license, we cannot use it. If you did not create the image, and cannot make the image compliant with Wikipedia:Non-free content, simply do nothing and it will be deleted in a week. All other non-free images must follow these rules.

Please feel free to contact me on my talk page or leave a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions with any questions you may have. Thank you. Aksibot 07:55, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Azerbaijan-Museum.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Azerbaijan-Museum.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Kerman Khodro

[edit]

A Proposed Deletion template has been added to the article Kerman Khodro, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of the page.

A tag has been placed on Hilleh Historical Village, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Notability of Zaho

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Zaho requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Exxolon (talk) 19:43, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

September 2008

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Zaho, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. TravellingCari 19:54, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

No answer of you... Have you well received my message ? Could you please contact me quickly at this adress : stephane.moronval@ac-amiens.fr ? I'm interested by one of your photos for illustrating a work in a french publication... Thank you and best regards !

Hi Stephane! I have send an email for you I'm sending another one again. my server is yahoo so may be my email is going to your spam list, please check for it and le mt to know if you have received my email or not?-Hi again; I don't know if you have received my newer email or not????

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Aji chai (disambiguation), and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://dbpedia.org/resource/Aji_River. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 21:10, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Aji chai requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:18, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

July 2009

[edit]

Your recent addition has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:20, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Aji chai. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:36, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Additionally, the reason you provided to keep the article in no way addresses the reason the article was nominated for speedy deletion in the first place, which is that it is a copyright violation because it was copy/pasted from another website[1]. This probably is a notable enough topic for an article, but you must say it in your own words and not copy other websites.--Beeblebrox (talk) 21:40, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Dear Sir/Madam; I just redirected a page from wikipedia from Talkheh Rud toAji Chai. Which originally created by myself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.99.4.93 (talk) 23:12, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Aji

[edit]

Did you actually read the speedy tag on Aji Chai? The alleged source was not a Wikipedia page. However, I am going to assume that the copyvio is the other way round - they have copied Wikipedia without reproducing the licence.

But you did make a serious mistake: you claim "page just moved from title Talkhe Rud". No you did not, you copy&pasted which throws away the edit history. I have fixed that.

Also what earthly purpose was Aji chai (disambiguation) supposed to serve? It was not a disambiguation page and nothing pointed to it. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 00:27, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, you are right somehow and I copied and paste from Talkheh-Rūd to Aji Chai, however it means same as moving from Talkheh Rud to Aji Chai, doesn't it? Thank you for your attention. — Preceding unsigned comment added by M karzarj (talkcontribs)

No, no, no - they are not the same. When you copy&pasted, all the edit history remained at Talkheh-Rūd so it was not possible to see who had contributed to the article. If you move, all the history moves at the same time. If you cannot do a move because there is something blocking the target, use {{Db-pagemove}} to get an admin to do it. Do not copy and paste. — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 18:52, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Messy editing

[edit]

Hi Dear Mr Karzarj,

  • First of all I should say I usually check my msg's, you had forgotten to sign in then put your msg so there was no wiki id in your first msg. I saw just an IP adrs and I was not able to answer you.
  • Seconde,

you have mentioned: "we have to use just a limited numbers of the photos" and "by Wikipedia standards". How many photos per page is standard by wikipedia exactly?

you have mentioed: "it is also it is hard to read article with so many photos apearing in right and left side of the page" and " I think it is better to not using the photos in left hand side". Please have a look to pages of these most important cities of the world: London, Paris, Moscow, NY, Sydney, Istanbul, Tokyo, Rome, Baku, Tehran, Washington DC. where is the photos? just in right hand?

you have mentioned: "It is better not to using an image from same monument more than one time". Please have a look too Tehran's page. How many times the wiki-editors of that page have used the photo of Milad Tower? Is there any wiki standard about this?

  • These r the numbers of photos of famous cities I mentioned above:

no of ph.in Right hand........no of ph. in Left hand.......no of ph. in the Middle

  • London 24 6 3
  • Paris 18 13 3
  • Moscow 43 30 1 ***
  • New York 20 9 1
  • Istanbul 33 8 4
  • Tehran 18 9 9

  • Tabriz 27 17 3

Do you still think there is too much photos in page of Tabriz for example in compare of page of Moscow?

Also please be avoid of:

1- Messy editing which you mostly had done in page of Tabriz e.g. in part of "Photos Gallery". You had put the photos of ancient monuments of Qajar era near the photos of modern streets. It looked too messy.

2- Uploading low quality photos for this prestigious encyclopaedia, In one of your photos (Tabriz-vicinity.JPG) your finger has been on the lens!!! but you had uploaded!!! this photo and had put it in the gallery of Tabriz. your other photos mostly have these problems: 1- wrong side of the monuments( e.g. Tabriz Ghari Bridge.jpg), 2- wrong focus, 3- messy (e.g. Tabriz-amriye.JPG, Arksiege.JPG) 4- low quality (e.g. Tabrizave.JPG, Tabrizdoc.jpg).

Regards my friend,

-Pournick

Hi again

[edit]

Dear friend, Tnx for your patience for messaging, I gonna try to answer you sentence by sentence.

You have written: "but it is only Tabriz that has a tag on its header". Yeah, thats right, but as I understand it supposed to be because of some grammatical mistakes, spelling, etc. not because of numbers of photos, if your english is good enough pls read whole text and correct the mistakes, tnx.

You have written: "the number of the photos for this cities are proportional to their text". Thats exactly right but pls improve the texts about Tabriz and its photos instead of deleting the photos, its much better.

You have written: "Some of the photos are belong to attraction of other cities of East Azerbaijan Province". The only photo which is belonging to somewhere else is (Zonouz11.jpg) that I have put it in section of "Regional Tourist Attractions", a brief guide for who wants to know about Tourist Attractions around Tabriz, I deleted the rest.

You have written: "There are some photos for a monument that shows the same thing a same view". Which photo do u mean exactly? There is some photos of different views (inside, outside)of same monuments like The Blue mosque because of its importance as a architectural master piece or (old, new) photos of Ark, thats it. There is no photos of a monuments same view, same thing.

You have written: "We wanna to create a beautiful realistic article about Tabriz not a copy of Moscow or anywhere else". I didnt want to copy the page of Moscow or ... either, but when I want to add a section to Tabriz I mostly had a look to pages of other cities as a good refrences, also I think the page of Tabriz is more beautiful in compare of pages of other Iranian cities like Shiraz,Isfahan or Mashhad, which part is unrealistic or unbeautiful according to you? If you think the photos I have taken show the city more beautiful than it is, beleive me the other cities of the world are not as beautiful as their photos as well, I have been to Sydney for 3 years and the photos of Sydeny in its page show Sydney more beautiful than it is, coz its art of phorography.

You have written: "if you think that the order of them is not correct please reorder them rather than undoing whole of the modification. I did reorder them as well not only undoing whole of the modification, you would check it out.

You have written: "you undid the section about: Capital of Iran, modification in references, sister city and the box at the end of the article". Which box? I just undid the section of sister cities coz some one edited it horizontaly which dose not look good, the others if you r sure probably has been done by mistake.

You have written: "I think that we are in the same boat and both of us are about making a good article for Tabriz so may be our contribution together and with other users helps to improve the quality of the article". Exactly, I agree, thats why I undid your edition coz everyone who are editing the page of Tabriz (Iranians or foreigners)have accepted its current structure for a long time before your radical edition.

Regards my friend,

-Pournick

Azerbaijan or Azarbaijan again

Salam ! As I said in Tabriz talk page , that is neither logical to translate all of a proper name to English (West Azerbaijan) nor a part of it (West Azarbaijan) . But overall , that is routine to chose the dominant name in other articles in relevant pages .I mean perhaps the "Azarbaijan-e Gharbi" is the best alternative , without translation of any part to English , but due to the Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names), The "West Azarbaijan" is the Widely accepted name, and if we want to change it in that special article , at least we have to change all the pages and all the templates and all the redirects that use that ( I mean Azarbaijan-e Gharbi) . Until reaching a consensus , the best thing possible is to use the current dominant name : West Azarbaijan.

A debate is ongoing in the Tabriz talk page . Please don't change West Azarbaijan to West Azerbaijan until we reach a result in the talk page , and please participate in the dialogue if you have special points of views . Thank you so much .--Alborz Fallah (talk) 18:15, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Tabriz City Photo Gallery has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

WP:NOT a gallery. Articles can have accompanying pictures, and notable picturs (famous paintings and so on) can have articles, but articles only consisting of non notable pictures (of notable subjects) belong at Commons, not here.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Fram (talk) 13:18, 29 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I undid your change because you altered a direct quote from the Encyclopaedia of Islam which is an authoritative academic source. The first sentence of the article is is a direct quote that cannot be changed. Cheers. Tajik (talk) 12:25, 6 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Sabalan03.JPG

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Sabalan03.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Kandovan, Meyaneh, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://phoebettmh.blogspot.com/2013/04/iran-kandovan-irans-incredible-village.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. Notification of automated file description generation

[edit]

Your upload of File:BazarganBorder.JPG or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. In order to help make better use of the media, an attempt has been made by an automated process to identify and add certain information to the media's description page.

This notification is placed on your talk page because a bot has identified you either as the uploader of the file, or as a contributor to its metadata. It would be appreciated if you could carefully review the information the bot added. To opt out of these notifications, please follow the instructions here. Thanks!
