Arauco Basin

[edit]

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia, thank you for editing! Reading quickly over your article it seems that there are a few SPAG (spelling, punctuation and grammar) mistakes, because it is a young article there is no point in tagging it so I'm just letting you know. Also if this article exists in another language please consider connecting it using the "Add links" hyperlink on the left-hand-side column. Many thanks again, and if you need any help please let me know on my talk page at User:Nicnote. Best, --Nicnote (talk) 21:00, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Magmatism

[edit]

Hi, I closed and implemented the CFD anniversary managing to rename multiple categories from "igneous petrology" to "magmatism", see Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2018_April_17#Magmatism_not_igneous_petrology. There are several parent categories that now do not match, see Category:Igneous petrology, so please follow up the last set. Also, Category:Eoarchean igneous petrology was apparently omitted from the nomination. – Fayenatic London 14:31, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Fayenatic, thank you. Las time I saw the discussion it had turned into a dead point, but Im glad the renaming went on. I will check parent categories. Mamayuco (talk) 21:16, 2 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Backstop wtf

[edit]

You've provided a definiiton for a Backstop. Doesn't make much sense to me. You say "a backstop is the transition between deforming rock or sediment that is pushed by a coherent mass of rock". Normally, when one uses the word "between", one defines the x & y that the thing described is between. So from your definition we know the x is "deforming rock or sediment". Is the y "a coherent mass of rock"?

Could you take a longer look at the article and see if you can explain the concept a little more fully, such that non-geologists might have a clue. thx. --Tagishsimon (talk) 02:15, 18 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Backstop (geology) moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Backstop (geology), does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Non-existent categories

[edit]

Information icon Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Category:Argentine earth scientists, please make sure that the category page actually exists. In some cases, it may be appropriate to create a new category in accordance with Wikipedia's categorization guidelines, but it is usually better to use the most specific available existing category. It is never appropriate to leave a page categorised in a non-existent category, i.e. one whose link displays in red. You may find it helpful to use the gadget HotCat, which tests whether a category exists before saving a change. Thank you. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 22:23, 12 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Mines in Cochabamba Department requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Thank you for creating André Sougarret.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The sources provided contain only brief mentions of the subject. They do not establish notability.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Kudpung}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:03, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kudpung กุดผึ้ง , this is pure nonsence. Please read again, being president CEO of Codelco and having led the world-famous 2010 do imply notability. Breifness and notability are two different things. Mamayuco (talk) 15:25, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No one is disputing that Sougarret might be a noteworthy individual. However, the brief mentions in the sources do not establish notability per the very strict requirements for WP:BLP. Is there any reason why you are unable to provide multiple, more substantial sources that discuss the Sougarret in depth? Sources must be independent and verifiable but they do not not need to be in English. Unfortunately, at NPP we only assess what we are given, it's not within our scope and time would not permit us to improve articles and provide additional sources. You are wrong Kudpung กุดผึ้ง, brief mentions in the sources can establish notability, and the policy that is to be referred to is Wikipedia:Notability (people), not WP:BLP. There it reads If the depth of coverage in any given source is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability. Mamayuco (talk) 18:12, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry but I can't do more to help you. Notability (people) is only a guideline whereas Biographies of living persons is a policy and overrides it. In fact it's one of the strictest policies on the English Wikipedia. In my opinion, the article certainly has potential but I cannot pass it for general indexing so it will stay in the queue for another reviewer to assess. You might be able to obtain help at the Teahouse, or bring it up at the BLP noticeboard (see the article's talk page). Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 18:44, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

André Sougarret moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, André Sougarret, is not suitable as written to remain published. Blocked for sockpuppetry

[edit]
Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively per the evidence presented at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Dentren. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse.

Note that multiple accounts are allowed, but not for illegitimate reasons, and any contributions made while evading blocks or bans may be reverted or deleted.
If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you should review the guide to appealing blocks, and then appeal your block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|Your reason here ~~~~}}. Note that anything you post in your unblock request will be public, so you may alternatively use the Unblock Ticket Request System to submit an appeal if it contains information that must be private.

Administrators: Checkusers have access to confidential system logs not accessible by the public or by administrators due to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy. You must not loosen or remove this block, or issue an IP block exemption, without consulting with a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee. Administrators who undo checkuser blocks without permission from a checkuser or the Arbitration Committee may be summarily desysopped.
