Disambiguation link notification for February 26
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited L'Aigle Creek (Saline River of the Ouachita River), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Moreau (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Changes to Business cycle
[edit]Hi, James. I stumbled across your recent addition to the Business cycle article, and noticed that it was out of place within the article. Because the yield curve explanation of the business cycle is just one theory among many, I moved it into the Explanations section. I also took the opportunity to break up a couple of run-on sentences, and to fix a spelling typo. On the whole I think it makes a good contribution to the article. Thanks for your work. —Aetheling (talk) 21:40, 2 June 2014 (UTC)
Business cycle, GDP, Recessions
[edit]Thank you for making the improvements to Business Cycles.
Hello Loren. I read about your activities on your User page. You may find articles in my Sandbox. I have many very, weakly organized topics (that are related to business cycles, GDP, recessions, etc.) posted in my Sandbox .... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Copeland.James.H/sandbox. I am more focused on actively using this information and adding to that collection (than organized it for the general public). —Copeland.James.H (

Invitation
[edit]Hello, Copeland.James.H,
The Editing team is asking for your help with VisualEditor. I am contacting you because you may have tried to use VisualEditor before. Please tell them what they need to change to make VisualEditor work well for you. The team has a list of top-priority problems, but they also want to hear about small problems. These problems may make editing less fun, take too much of your time, or be as annoying as a paper cut. The Editing team wants to hear about and try to fix these small things, too.
You can share your thoughts by clicking this link. You may respond to this quick, simple, anonymous survey in your own language. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. model years vs calendar years
[edit]Thank you for your edit at Toyota GR engine#2GR-FKS. However, please note that the engine article quite clearly labels vehicle applications by calendar years, not model years. Model years is a very US specific thing that is utterly confusing to non-Americans. Since Wikipedia is an international encyclopaedia, we try to avoid systems such as model years that are not understood by a large proportion of our readers. Also, Wikipedia cannot be its own reference. References must be to sources outside of Wikipedia. Thanks. Stepho talk 00:23, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on User:Copeland.James.H/invest, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement of https://www.knoxnews.com/story/money/business/2019/06/14/tv-appearance-exposes-inability-predict-stock-market-david-moon/1419127001/. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

- Hello McKnight Buchanan, I wanted to let you know that I've reverted the decline of your draft because you are correct in that unless otherwise noted, works produced by the US federal government are public domain. However, as it stands, your article may still not be ready for acceptance. Please incorporate other source information more smoothly into the article, and please review other chemical lubricant articles on Wikipedia for ideas as to how to make it more readily acceptable. You can visit the IRC help channel again at #wikipedia-en-help connect if you have more questions, and please wait longer for a helper to assist you. Helpers are all volunteers and help as they are able, so are not always instantly available to assist. Best wishes to you. Waggie (talk) 02:53, 29 August 2019 (UTC)
Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution
[edit] Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Vietnam War into Bay of Pigs Invasion. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution
. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:22, 22 October 2019 (UTC)
Per your edits today to Arkansas (here) and Timeline of Little Rock, Arkansas ([1]), I do not think you quite have the hang of this yet. All information on Wikipedia has to be CITED to WP:RELIABLE sources. When you copy information from other articles, you must also copy the citations so that the information can be VERIFIED by readers and other editors. And as explained to you above, several other steps must also be taken when copying from other articles, such as leaving a note at the article copied froms talk page, and an explanatory note left in the edit summary. Please take the time to learn how to do this correctly before attempting it again. Heiro 00:42, 17 May 2020 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Polyalkylene glycols
[edit]Hello, McKnight Buchanan. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Polyalkylene glycols".
In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply and remove the {{db-afc}}
, {{db-draft}}
, or {{db-g13}}
code.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

[edit]You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.
The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.
The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.
- Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
- Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. 19:04, 3 September 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Copying licensed material requires attribution
[edit]Hi. I see in a recent addition to Greed and fear you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 01:08, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
Please only add links to the "see also" section that are not already linked in the article. Cheers. Magnolia677 (talk) 13:19, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for August 16
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Bradley County, Arkansas, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mount Olive, Arkansas. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:03, 16 August 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Bicycle wheel: Undid edit, removing non-free content
[edit]Hi McKnight, thank you for your recent edit of bicycle wheel. I find the content interesting, but I undid the edit for the following reason: Those two paragraphs are slightly rephrased but effectively copied content from the commercial site that the edit references. The terms of use of the site clearly do not allow this without authorization. We can only copy from there if they also offer that content under a compatible license. You could however, rewrite the content in your own words, making sure that the wording is not similar to the original, and use the original as a reference. --RainerBlome (talk) 19:47, 3 December 2021 (UTC)

Stone tools thought to be between 2.6 and 3 million years old near Paranthropus teeth
[edit]Goddamn, you beat me to it. I had recently read about Paranthropus on wikipedia, and when I saw the news article about the stone tools, I planned to add the new info myself. But hey, congrats for beating me to it. -- Troopersho (talk) 21:40, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
Hey, just making sure you've got the right Charles Inman. It wasn't an uncommon name at the time, and there were others in TN. Looking at a few genealogy sites (admittedly not reliable), this Charles Inman didn't have a daughter named Elizabeth. BrineStans (talk) 16:31, 7 April 2023 (UTC)
- This site [2] suggests the Charles Inman who is the subject of this Wiki article had a cousin named Charles Woodward Inman (b. 1831), born in nearby Jefferson Co., TN. This latter Charles had a daughter named Elizabeth, b. 1858, so that may be the one you're looking for. Sorry, I couldn't find a better source. Just note, there were several Charles Inmans running around TN at the time of the Civil War, and some sites may confuse their respective histories. BrineStans (talk) 17:08, 7 April 2023 (UTC)

- after opening an account go to
- https://www.familysearch.org/tree/person/details/LW4Y-CMK
- his parent, children, are shown.
- by selecting some of his relatives, you can see his grand-children, and some great-grand-children. Ingalls_Arkansas_QNX (talk) 13:49, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. I took a look at the entry, and it squares with the source above, i.e., Charles Woodward Inman (1831-1888), not the Charles Inman that is the subject of this article (1810-1899). They were second cousins, according to that site. BrineStans (talk) 17:14, 9 April 2023 (UTC)
