October 2023

[edit]

Information icon Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template index/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 15:28, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Make sure you warn the users/IPs after reverting. Thanks and happy editing. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 15:40, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Usage of WP:SWViewer

[edit]

Hello, NoNAja. According to the aforementioned page, "To use [SWViewer], the rollback permission is required." Unless I'm mistaken, you don't have rollback permissions. Would it be possible for you to stop using SWViewer? or inform me if you do, in fact, have rollback and I've made an error? For now, you're free to patrol recent changes and, once you're autoconfirmed, you can use WP:TWINKLE. Sincerely, Novo Tape (She/Her)My Talk Page 17:03, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Novo Tape. I do have rollback permission in the German Wikipedia and i have over thousand edits there, which means that i can use SWViewer across all Wikis. Just look into my contribution history to confirm. "Users who don't have global rights can also enable global queue from settings and perform undo but they should have 1000 edits globally (except test wikis) and should not have more than one active block." https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/SWViewer#Features. NoNAja (talk) 17:24, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Got it. Sincerely, Novo Tape (She/Her)My Talk Page 17:25, 2 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I noticed that you made a mistake using the SWViewer on the page James (musician). The edit in question is here. Please be careful in your reviews. You state that you have permission via German wiki, but language barriers do exist! So be very careful with your reverts and so on. Thanks! Megalibrarygirl (talk) 17:42, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

#Message_on_my_talk.--NoNAja (talk) 20:37, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Some advice from someone who has dealt with them many times before: Just report them, don't bother otherwise. Thanks. 47.227.95.73 (talk) 01:15, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Also, for future reference, vandals who have exceeded all warnings or need to be blocked can be reported here. Cheers, 47.227.95.73 (talk) 01:16, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
WP:TROLLFOOD is also an interesting take on the same principle. Happy editing. The Herald (Benison) (talk) 12:00, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies...

[edit]

...for accidentally hitting you with a warning template that was aimed at the user you had correctly reverted. Perhaps I've become a bit too overconfident with Huggle!

Hello!

[edit]

I just have a bit of a question: Was my edit reverted because it didn’t have a reliable source backed to it? Since it was correct: ( https://www.google.com/doodles/karol-szymanowskis-141st-birthday ) but I didn’t use a source, so that’s probably why. I might’ve already answered my own question lol, but I should probably make sure. If you see this message, thanks for seeing it! Hot655 (talk) 20:04, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You did not write that his birthday was celebrated with a Google Doodle, but only that "On October 3rd, 2023, Google celebrated his 141st birthday." In combination with the missing citation, that didn't seem likely. NoNAja (talk) 20:25, 3 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, thanks for telling me why. Hot655 (talk) 06:18, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Doing a great job

[edit]

Hi, I know you have edited de.wikipedia before but I've stopped by to say keep up the good work, you're doing a great job! Knitsey (talk) 17:37, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! NoNAja (talk) 20:32, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I believe you warned the wrong person. Check the edit history for the page. James (musician)

I think you accidentily reverted my edit which my edit reverted the vandlism to his actual name, and I think you accidentily reverted my edit and changed his name back to 'Butt'. CocaPopsRather (talk) 17:24, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I did, sorry for that. NoNAja (talk) 17:42, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi NoNAja, when you encounter situations such as [1], please file a report at WP:RFPP – and/or, as these all came from the same /64 subnet, WP:AIV. Thanks! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:26, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I will do that in the future. NoNAja (talk) 21:01, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

I saw your message of the deletion. I thought it would be relevant since that was the link to the company that was partnering with History and A&E. I'm actually looking for video archives from their partnership to set up a page for the company as well since it is historically significant, but was trying to start small. Was this not the best way to go about it? Clamar4409 (talk) 17:56, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's generally not allowed to add external links to the body of an article. Please read Wikipedia:External_links before adding any more external links. NoNAja (talk) 18:07, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You can check here WP:COMPANY whether the company is a valid subject for a separate article. NoNAja (talk) 18:25, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the info. So, from what I am reading, is it safe to assume that the company does qualify due to its repeated mentions on A&E and History wiki pages? Sorry for my confusion, but I researched it for a few weeks thinking that it would be a great first article to try here (Clamar4409 (talk) 18:44, 11 October 2023 (UTC))[reply]
Whether the company qualifies depends on what sources you have. That the company is mentioned in other Wikipedia articles is not enough. NoNAja (talk) 20:16, 11 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Heya, you removed my message because you thought it wasn't constructive. I believe it's constructive as there were several studies to the release of endorphins after self-harming.

You can probably add that to the article if you use the study as a citation. But the second part of the sentence you added is not sufficiently supported by the study in this form. I suggest that you phrase that it may play a role or that it may be involved in nonsuicidal self-injury, not that it makes self-harm addictive. NoNAja (talk) 14:26, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

+rollback

[edit]

Hi NoNAja,

You had previously requested this and have now gained the experience I was looking for. Perhaps that was silly of me, perhaps it was helpful – I wouldn't mind if you think the former. You're now a rollbacker. Please keep in mind these things when using rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Users should be informed (or warned) after their edits have been reverted. If warnings repeatedly don't help, WP:ANI is the default place to go. In cases of very clear ongoing intentional damage to the encyclopedia, WP:AIV can be used.
  • Reverting someone's edits may confuse or upset them. Whenever other users message you on your talk page, please take the time to respond to their concerns; accountability is important. For most users who message you, the tone and quality of your answer will permanently influence their opinion about Wikipedia in general.
  • Because the plain default rollback link does not provide any explanatory edit summary, it must not be used to revert good faith contributions, even if these contributions are disruptive. Take the time to write a proper summary whenever you're dealing with a lack of neutrality or verifiability; a short explanation like "[[WP:NPOV|not neutral]]" or "[[WP:INTREF|Please provide a citation]]" is helpful.
  • Rollback may never be used to edit war, which you'll notice to be surprisingly tempting in genuine content disputes. Please especially keep the three-revert rule in mind. If you see others edit warring, please file a report at WP:ANEW. The most helpful essay I've ever seen is WP:DISCFAIL; it is especially important for those who review content regularly.
  • If you encounter private information or threats of physical harm during your patrols, please quickly use Special:EmailUser/Oversight or Special:EmailUser/Emergency; ideally bookmark these pages now. See WP:OS and WP:EMERGENCY for details. If you're regularly patrolling recent changes, you will need both contacts sooner or later, and you'll be happy about the bookmarks.

To try rollback for the first time, you may like to make an edit to WP:Sandbox, and another one, and another one, and then revert the row with one click. I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about rollback. Thank you for your time and work in cleaning up Wikipedia. Happy editing!

Best regards,
~ ToBeFree (talk) 11:46, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

That's pleasant, thank you. NoNAja (talk) 15:53, 14 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pending changes reviewer granted

[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.

Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

AIV reports

[edit]

Thank you for your work on recent changes patrolling, but please don't give someone a level one warning and report them to AIV at the same time. The entire point of leaving a warning is to let the person know that their edits are noticed and they could potentially be blocked if they continue. The warnings are meant to educate. With cases such as ILOVEELAYEAH, the user made a single edit, you reverted, warned and reported all at once without any further edits from the account. Admins will rarely block in such instances.-- Ponyobons mots 21:54, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've declined your report on Wcmaverick for the same issue. A single edit for which you reverted, warned and reported all at once.-- Ponyobons mots 21:57, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion

[edit]

Regarding your tagging for Fajristan, You labelled it with A1, A3, and A7. Please only use the appropriate tag. Only A7 applied. For A1, the context was there; he was stated to be a rapper. For |, there was content, skimpy as it was. Please take more care in tagging for speedy deletion after you have read and understood the criteria for speedy deletion. -- Whpq (talk) 01:03, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

hi, I am the source. I'm Glen's partner. Please undo your edit please. PoolPro99 (talk) 22:35, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Re-adding it would be against WP:BLP and WP:CITE. NoNAja (talk) 23:06, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
