The Klickitat Trail Conservancy (KTC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the 31-mile Klickitat Trail, a rail trail in Washington state. Since 2003, I have been the webmaster for the organization’s website. I am also a long-standing board member and officer in the organization. I am the primary author of all content on the website.

Beginning in 2007, as a contributing editor, I submitted a description of the Klickitat Trail to Wikipedia. In early 2015, coinciding with updates to KTC’s website, it was time to update the Klickitat Trail Wikipedia section. As with our website, in collaboration with fellow board members, I am the primary author of the recent Wikipedia edits. It seems unfair and unjustified to be flagged with a copyright violation for using my own words. As a former professional librarian, I have a solid understanding and deep respect for copyright issues. The content recently submitted to update the Wikipedia description of the Klickitat Trail was drawn from the website, but I am the primary author of the wording.

With the removal of content deemed in violation of copyright, a viewer now sees only a very brief overview, and with some inaccuracies. Trail access points are important to viewers. I would like to add this information, as well as photos, without risk of having these submissions removed. Paraphrasing copyrighted content seems a feeble way to work around possible copyright violations.

Hi, it's great that you're willing to donate what you've written on the website to Wikipedia. To do so, please follow the instructions at WP:DONATETEXT (basically, you can either send an email or place a license declaration on your website). This is so we can verify you are in fact the copyright holder. Thanks! Conifer (talk) 05:08, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
