[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Redskin. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.
If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Additionally, use accurate edit summaries. Reverting to your preferred version, where you removed text, is still a revert, and it will go better for you if you don't use inaccurate descriptions for these edits such as: "Cleaned up grammatical and verb tense errors" when that's not what took place. Thank you. - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 23:47, 10 July 2020 (UTC)
- Did the other editor receive the same warning?
- I do understand your perspective.
- Also, I do occasionally donate to this site both under this name and a different user name. I may not give a lot of money, but please afford me the respect of a reply. Thank you. PeterM34 (talk) 03:10, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
- When I see users violating policy and disrupting Wikipedia, I give them warnings. If they ignore these warnings and continue to disrupt, I remove their right to edit the encyclopedia. It's one of the jobs I have as a Wikipedia administrator.
- Thank you for donating to the Wikimedia foundation. However, that has no affect on how much weight a contributor's work is given. We are all volunteers here. Even as an administrator, I am also a volunteer. Do you also edit under this other name? - CorbieVreccan ☊ ☼ 20:49, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
I apologize for not replying sooner. I actually just saw it.
No, I was curious if the other editor was warned.
And, yes, I was correcting grammar and verb tense in my edits, yet the other editor kept reverting those as well because they were originally pushing an agenda; however, their grammar was atrocious. I gave up trying to clarify their opinions we're not a consensus.
It's all good on my end though - I just do not visit that page.
Blessings and keep up the good work. PeterM34 (talk) 15:05, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
