I see that you PRODded Colombians AFC with the rationale "Fails Wikipedia:Notability (sports) by a large margin". I've left the PROD in place, because it does appear to me that the article probably should be deleted on notability grounds, but I was confused by your citation of Wikipedia:Notability (sports), since that guideline clearly states "This guideline does not cover sports teams." If you've got four paragraphs of text with zero links, it is most certainly underlinked. Try act of parliament, Wellington City (council), Hutt County, Wairarapa County, mayor of Wellington, (new zealand) government, High Court (of NZ), (Wlgt) waterfront, Local government (in New Zealand), Wellington, Hutt (city), Wairarapa (district), Manawatu (district); note that some of them may be redlinks (but that's fine). Lol. Nope, I didn't go to that school nor any other (at NZ). I've written series of articles about NZ following red links from the article 2010 Canterbury earthquake (I've extended it a bit in ruwiki and made the feature article). So, BHS was one of them, and I've got this topic for my current research. Somehow miraculously I've got in touch with sir Paul O'Connor - then Head of Historic Department of school, and he was so kind and send me his book "Choosing the Right Path: Burnside High School 1960-2010" dedicated for school's fiftieth anniversary. So, I use this book with pleasure and take some facts from it for the article. That's the story :)

Pictures: unfortunately, I can't, cuz those pictures aren't free but ruwiki alllows to use'em as fair-use whereas commons doesn't allow to upload it. No any ppl from school except mr.O'Connor has answered to my requests by e-mail, and only few NZealanders have taken some pictures of Burnside High School under a free CC License, which already have been uploaded to Commons. Please, if you have an opportunity, could you take a shot of Burnside High School cabbage tree, growing in the grounds of Burnside High School, please? I'll pay you a million. MurielMary, I've just had a look at Catsandthings' contributions and she has not requested for this ban to be lifted through editing Wikipedia. Now I'm assuming that it is WP that has imposed the ban, and not the university. Is she aware of that? The ban would apply to anons; once you register for an account, you should be all good. Or is the university blocking access to WP somehow? I suggest that we get to the bottom of this, as there would be nothing more annoying than turning up on the day and it's not a happening thing. Just FYI Schwede that the event is at Kirkwood Village (part of the UC campus, on Kirkwood Avenue). The village has lettered blocks, and the conference is using KD block. Not sure which room number in that block the WP workshop will be in, but the blocks aren't large so it shouldn't be a problem to wander around and find it. Good session on Sunday, 9 participants and several made accounts and started editing. I've updated the meetup page with user names and articles worked on. There was an issue with the "6 new accounts per IP rule" and some of the group have to wait 24 hours for their account to be activated. I'm not sure if that rule can also be requested to be waived for an edit a thon, but it's something to bear in mind for the future. For our first event, we encouraged people to make accounts before they came to the event, so it wasn't an issue that time around. For the new editors, I was thinking of posting a welcome message on their user talk page - I got one with a pic of a plate of cookies and some useful links. Is that a template? Was it from a bot? New Page Review needs your help

Hi Schwede66,

As an AfC reviewer you're probably aware that a new user right has been created for patrolling new pages (you might even have been granted the right already, and admins have it automatically).

Since July there has been a very serious backlog at Special:NewPagesFeed of over 14,000 pages, by far the worst since 2011, and we need an all out drive to get this back down to just a few hundred that can be easily maintained in the future. Unlike AfC, these pages are already in mainspace, and the thought of what might be there is quite scary. There are also many good faith article creators who need a simple, gentle push to the Tea House or their pages converted to Draft rather than being deleted.

Although New Page Reviewing can occasionally be somewhat more challenging than AfC, the criteria for obtaining the right are roughly the same. The Page Curation tool is even easier to use than the Helper Script, so it's likely that most AfC reviewers already have more than enough knowledge for the task of New Page Review.

It is hoped that AfC reviewers will apply for this right at WP:PERM and lend a hand. You'll need to have read the page at WP:NPR and the new tutorial.

New Challenge for Oceania and Australia

Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest! thank you for your query, you are most welcome to revert me if you so wish. If you would like the back story - User:Wwikix was for some time a dutch wikipedia editor who chose to re-arrange categories and things compulsively - the admins had tried behavioural controls over 5x from what I understand - and in the end the editor was blocked for a while. When the editor came to english wikipedia - it was a mysterious and unexplained edit history of 'playing' with categories of which no one has gone in and fixed the 're-arrangements' - and was eventually blocked. Since the block at least 2 socks have arrived to offer alternative ways at looking at the world without explanation. The latest was an IP, the previous (identified that is) sock had applied 'name by association' categories - the CFD with explanations from more experienced editors the problem - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2016_December_8#Category:Daniel_Gabriel_Fahrenheit - the problem being there are probably more categories in the edit history that need to be expunged. If you feel happy with keeping the article in the category - that is fine - your call. Note that I have removed most from the category tonight. cheers JarrahTree 14:33, 21 December 2016 (UTC)

@JarrahTree: I thought that there must be some background to this; thanks for the comprehensive answer. I had wondered about the whole thing because I had certainly come across such categories before, and see that this British people category exists for example. But I'd be the last one who would come to the support of a problem editor. Maybe you could provide an edit summary with your reverts that points to some background info, so that editors who want to understand what's going on can go and have a read. Ok, I've had another look at your 13 and 14 November minor contributions. There were a few that I thought aren't minor, e.g. the Wanganui "h" (in fact, your edit may be factually wrong; please go and check), this link is fine but there may be those who would want to point to a different redirect so it's not minor for that reason, these edits are good but there are different ways of how the info could be presented, same here and you are adding content. But in the big scheme of things, you are doing just fine, and I value your contributions. In fact, I thought you were New Zealand's most valuable new editor in 2016 and wanted to post a barnstar on your page for xmas, but didn't get round to it while heading off on holiday.
