Edit War on Conversion Therapy talk page

Whistling42 appears to be edit warring on the conversion therapy talk page, in order to represent me as saying something that I did not say (eg, that I used the word 'they' to refer to this editor). I do not accept Whistling42's editing of my comments. Could you please suggest to Whistling42 that this is not appropriate? Skoojal (talk) 02:26, 10 July 2008 (UTC)

Sephiroth, I offered Whistling42 a compromise yesterday, but there has been no response so far. Since the conversion therapy talk page cannot remain protected forever, I suggest that if Whistling42 does not reply within the next couple of days, it be unprotected. If this dispute arises again, you can of course decide for yourself how to deal with it. Skoojal (talk) 08:39, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Dragon Ball Z Butchering

Hey, I noticed you were one of the administrators for the Dragon Ball WikiProject, and I wanted to inform you that there have been a few individuals going around deleting information on the subject. They've completely remove the Dragon Ball Z article - leaving only three paragraphs describing it on the Dragon Ball manga page. The saga summaries have also been removed. (And as the WikiProject page states, there were to be four pages dedicated to the story arcs in Dragon Ball Z.)

Vandalism is a strong word, but this hits pretty darn close. A user by the name of Collectonian seems to be taking the lead among them. It's pretty clear given the negative backlash that these changes were not warranted, despite how the users in question attempt to justify them. Anyway, I can try to tackle repairs myself, but my expertise on editing Wikipedia articles is somewhat limited. Any help you can provide in fixing the damage and preventing these users from causing more is greatly appreciated! Thanks.72.160.93.25 (talk) 22:38, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm having issues with User:Lajolla2009. I disagreed with their edits to David K. Jordan and List of University of California, San Diego people regarding the inclusion of Mike Hou, and so I reverted them, explaining why on those articles' talk pages and asking for discussion. Lajolla2009 proceeded to re-revert, and then delete my comments on those articles' talk pages, as well as the comments I made on User Talk:Lajolla2009. I don't want to get into a revert war, but I'm not sure of the proper course of action. Would you please advise? Many thanks. Realitycookie (talk) 07:53, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Much appreciated, thank you very much. Realitycookie (talk) 07:59, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Since I was unable to, can you move it back to Cell (Dragon Ball)? The base name and franchise is "Dragon Ball", not its sequels. This is why we use Baby (Dragon Ball) over Baby (Dragon Ball GT). Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 15:55, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Admin coaching (2)

I saw your edit to admin coaching. That brought back memories from my somewhat early days on Wikipedia only four months ago. Sigh. I still don't know why you would ever choose me as a coachee over the other, probably more capable people, especially at the time! :) Anyways, are you still looking for another coachee? I know a few of the guys on WP:ADCO/RFC, but one that caught my eye was User:ThinkBlue, who I converse with regularly, mostly about WP:GAN stuff though so I don't know how well-versed she is in administrator-related stuff. She's a great person, though, and dedicated content-builder, like myself. Gary King (talk) 03:38, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Hm I just noticed that there are other admin requests on your talk page. What's up with those? :p Also, I don't know if I already mentioned it or not, but I will be AFK in early August. I'll be in Los Angeles. Nice, hot, smoggy weather, here I come! Gary King (talk) 03:51, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Reactions/Celebrations of the September 11th attacks

Sephiroth, I apologise for bringing this matter up with you again, but would you kindly consider the following exchange of words, here. User Jaakobou insists that the recent AfD result (keep, and merge Celebrations into Reactions) is non-applicable because "AfDs are about deletion/keeping, not merging", therefore editors are free to ignore the outcome. Is this argument correct, or is Jaakobou stalling for time, as the following curious post seems to suggest? (diff) If Jaakobou is wrong, and the merge result is quite legitimate, would you kindly advise this user to proceed with it, because I've a feeling (s)he will not listen to me. — eon, 20:02, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Did you look into this? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 20:36, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

I don't see any discussion with the person who performed the merge. I'm not going to unilateraly revert him if there's no consensus to do so. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 20:42, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
What merge? There was no consensus on changing the disambiguator to "(Dragon Ball Z)". That's why I'm asking if you can undo it. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 20:46, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Move, my bad. Anyhow, have you discussed the issue at all with the person who performed the merge? He had a valid reason to move the article, and some consensus has to exist for your version for there to be a revert back. Discuss first. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 20:49, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
There was a survey that ended with the page being moved to "Baby (Dragon Ball)", see this. That good enough or should I chat with the editor who moved the page? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 21:00, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
Chat. That discussion was more than a year ago. Sephiroth BCR (Converse) 21:02, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I noticed your input on this article's AfD. You mentioned that this AfD may have been a bad idea. I was curious about why you thought so. I guess I should explain my rationale a little about nominating the article as well. I was patrolling new pages when this page was created. The initial draft didn't contain much in the way of notability, either in claims or in sources. I Googled around some and couldn't find much on the game on the net either. I proposed the article for deletion and the author removed the tag. The author provided some external links, but they weren't really reliable in my opinion. That's when I put the article up for AfD. I'd be glad to hear your input about the process. Cheers! TNX-Man 01:39, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

List of Academy Award-winning foreign language films

Hi, Sephiroth BCR!! First of all, let me congratulate you over the great work you've been doing recently with regard to Academy Awards-related articles. I noticed that you've produced a streak of recently promoted featured lists!! Good job!! However, I was surprised to find out that you are currently submitting the List of Academy Award-winning foreign language films for FLC. As the one who originally created this list (I split it from the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film article based on requests that were made by several users), I can assure you that it is very incomplete: for instance, it does not include short films, documentaries (eg. The Silent World), films that were nominated for their English-dubbed version, multilingual films (eg. The Red Violin, Fellini Casanova), nor foreign language performances in predominantly English-speaking films (eg. The Godfather Part II, Traffic). The list is thus far from being worthy of FL status since it does not respect the third Featured list criteria, i.e. comprehensiveness. I have been working on my sandbox on a vastly expanded and improved version of this list, which would include not just foreign language winners, but also foreign language nominees, as well as all the other films that I mentioned above that should be included but currently are not. I therefore ask you to withdraw your FLC for this particular list. I know this may be a weird request to make, but it would be really a shame if such an incomplete list were to be promoted to FL status. On a more personal level, it would also be a pity for me to have done all this work on my sandbox (the result of which can be seen here) in vain. I am in no way criticizing your work, simply this particular list. Again, all my congratulations for the improvements you've been doing to other Academy Awards-related lists!! Regards. Protection of Celebrations article

Can I please have the wikicode to merge the image from the celebrations article into the reactions article? Since Imad is not merging material, I am doing so. Kyaa the Catlord (talk) 06:33, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Well, I could do a view source, but that wouldn't be very helpful. When I'm grabbing this information to move to the other article, I'm simply hitting the edit button and copying the text. We will need the histories merged when this is completed to keep the GFDL compliance. Kyaa the Catlord (talk) 06:55, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Taking a wikibreak. That talk page has gone to the shitter. Sorry. Kyaa the Catlord (talk) 14:30, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Hmm, this one seems to have turned into a bit of a mess. I thought there was agreement to work in a sandbox on how the material would fit together and be merged. Instead Kyaa has now more or less merged the entirety of the Celebrations content into the actual Reactions article, including several contentious elements (eg a cartoon and a lot of detail about the authenticity of the TV footage). As the Celebrations article is now protected, we have its content in Wikipedia in its entirety twice over, which seems to defeat the intent of the AfD result.
There would seem to be two solutions - 1) remove the recently merged material from the Reactions article, work instead in a sandbox and in the meantime delay the removal of the standalone Celebrations article; or 2) accept the merge of material into mainspace as a fait accompli and work on it where it is, and delete the Celebrations article. The latter would seem to be the most sensible step, but would lead to a lot of edit warring, judging from where we are now. I would have kept this on the talk page, but you're the admin holding the key to the Celebrations page. --Nickhh (talk) 14:56, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
OK, I've put something on the talk page now. --Nickhh (talk) 15:53, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

RE:Collaboration

Yeah definitely! I have two ideas, since we tend to focus on completely different lists. First, we could each choose a list and collaborate on two at the same time. Or, we could just choose a list that neither of us have worked in before. I'll leave it up to you! :) « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 08:48, 19 July 2008 (UTC)

Cool, that sounds good. And yes, I am about to hit the sack too. I'll give it some thought tomorrow. Good night. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 08:58, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Ok, my choice is Green Bay Packers statistics (looking at my history you should have known it would be a Green Bay Packers list :) Have you decided on yours? « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 23:44, 20 July 2008 (UTC)
I as actually thinking of changing the page up a little bit. My idea was to transfer what is in that page to an article titled Green Bay Packers records, as the current state of Green Bay Packers statistics is just that, records. Then I wanted to adopt the format used here, an example of which can be found at User:Gonzo fan2007/6. Now this would be a list of statistics for the Green Bay Packers. What do you think? « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 01:34, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I will, it is in it's very basic form right now. So what type of format did you have in mind for your list? Is there any previous FL's to borrow formatting, or is this a first? « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 07:41, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
That sounds good. It will probably be much easier for me to help you out if you can make an example I can go off of. Then I could really help out with the list. But I am off to bed now, I'll be on tomorrow night though. Cheers, « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 08:13, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Conversion therapy article

Sephiroth, there does not seem to be any immediate danger of edit warring, so I suggest that the conversion therapy article be unprotected soon. It can't remain protected forever because of one past dispute. Skoojal (talk) 03:57, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

Toads

Could you chime in on the discussion of Naruto toads... again? Apparently, my argument is wholly inferior to "'cuz I said so" unless someone agrees with me, and a new argument must be provided whenever another chapter comes out. It was vandalized and only partially reverted. It has been cleaned up now. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 09:15, 20 July 2008 (UTC)

You've probably noticed me going through this list copyediting per your request. If at anytime you see me change something in CE-ing that substantially and incorrectly changes the meaning or accuracy of the list's lead, etc, please let me know? And of course, change it back. I know absolutely nothing about this subject, which ironically, makes copyediting for clarity much easier. If I can't figure out what it's trying to say, other readers "outside the universe" likely won't be able to either. When I've given it my twice through (probably by the end of the day), I'll post here again if there are any glaring issues from WP:WIAFL. Right now, I'm about halfway through "pass one". Cheers, happy editing, Keeper ǀ 76 17:21, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

A couple of quick questions.
  1. Is there a reason why there aren't more pictures? Many of the FLC's get knocked for being a bit "bland on the eyes", I realize most of the available pictures are probably fairuse, so perhaps I've answered my own question. Either way, I found myself clicking on the "main articles" of the main characters many times to see if the description on "list of" matched the images.
  2. It also appears to my un-manga eyes that the order of the characters is rather haphazard. Is there a logic to the ordering of the antagonists and the "other" characters that I'm not seeing? For example, under other, the first "other" is a Team (Team 8), then some of the members, then the leader. My logic says the "leader" of the team would be first. Again, I might be missing something very obvious, and if I am I apologize, I'm not trying to sound completely daft, but it does appear random to me.
  3. I'm not quite done working my way down to the bottom (being going section by section), and my PC has now decided to act really sluggish. Not sure what's wrong, but for some reason that page (and other lengthy pages) are aggravatingly slow to load. I'll try to keep going on it, but I may give up until tomorrow. Cheers, Keeper ǀ 76 21:25, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
Got your reply, perfectly logical responses, and thanks especially for clarifying the order, proof that you know what the hell you're talking about and I admittedly don't when it comes to Naruto :-) I'll work on it when I can, hopefully tonight, probably tomorrow. Is it at FLC already or is this the leadup? (now that I typed that, you certainly don't have to respond, I can clearly just check myself :-). Overall, BTW, I'm enjoying the article more than I thought I would - it's very well written, thorough, and does a very decent job of "explaining" itself to folks like me that are out of the loop, the average reader. Nice work! Keeper ǀ 76 22:22, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Another update, some help needed

These sentences/phrases I'm having trouble with from an "out of universe" perspective. Perhaps they can be clarified?

  1. In the original Japanese anime, Akamaru is voiced by Junko Takeuchi, who is also the seiyū for Naruto Uzumaki, and Kōsuke Toriumi, who voices Kiba, when Akamaru transforms into a human state. (from Akamaru) Not a problem grammatically, but its the first mention of Kiba's ability to transform into a human state, kind of a bombshell at the end when merely talking about the voice actor. This ability should be mentioned sooner in the paragraph.
  2. To use these techniques, Ino transfers her consciousness to her target's mind, gaining control over their body which she can then use to attack their allies uninhibited (from Ino Yamanaka). "Their" is a plural pronoun, and shouldn't follow a singular subject. Normally I would fix it, but the use of "their" twice in the sentence leaves me confused as to who actually each "their" is referring to. (Hopefully this makes sense).
  3. Unlike Lee, who is unable to use any other form of technique, Guy focuses on physical skills as a matter of preference, even going out of his way to avoid using basic ninja techniques. I have no idea what this sentence means.
  4. I'm not sure (again, I don't know the subject), why there is a section called "other characters" and within that, a section called "other". What's the difference? There really shouldn't be two "other" sections.
  5. With his unique Mokuton abilities, he created the trees that act as the foundation for Konoha, and his method of rule became a model for all subsequent Hokage Grammatically, the sentence is fine, but this is the first reference to the term "Konoha" (as opposed to "Konohagakure". Are they the same place?
  6. In Part II, once Gaara begins to reveal his dreams and motivations to Kankuro, Kankuro becomes very protective of Gaara; he lashes out at anyone who speaks poorly of Gaara and readily risks his life to save Gaara when he is kidnapped. The last "he" in the sentence is ambiguous. Who was kidnapped, Gaara or Kankuro?

There may be more, I stopped at "Jiraiya". I need to go home for the night, I'm wiki-fried :-) Keeper ǀ 76 00:56, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Nice fixes! One more:

  1. While a second review from T.H.E.M. Anime Reviews mediated this view, commenting that while Naruto Uzumaki combined the finer values of his shōnen predecessors, but lamented the characters' personalities tended to fall between Naruto's "charisma and coolness" and Sasuke's "blandness," making it was difficult to think about the characters on "any deep or meaningful level. I have no idea what to do with this sentence (from "Reception")

I've pretty much read the article thru 3 times, don't see any other glaring grammatical problems. I didn't do anything with refs (formatting or checking), but the FLC folks will. I also didn't do anything with factual accuracy, as I haven't a clue what this list is about. Ok, I have a clue now after reading, but I'm talking your (and other editors') word for it that it's accurate :-) Nice work S-BCR all around. Let me know how you fare at FLC! Keeper ǀ 76 17:25, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Talk page comment

I had already answered him that I believe many admins show good judgment, but that some, such as now banned User:Eyrian have given me cause for concern (I'm sure you've heard the famous "Fool me once" quotation). And that particular discussion was initiated by another editor who wanted it to stay focused on his question (as that IP editor posted elsewhere; see User talk:83.203.178.78 and notice how he/she removed the off-topic commentaries) and the discussion was clearly being derailed by this line of questioning about how I perceive admins when I had already answered that question (and again, I even consider some not just colleagues but friends) and I tried to get the discussion back on focus. I am not willing to continue discussion or respond to comments that are clearly moving away from what the thread was about or when they are just asking the same thing that had already been addressed. People can only answer questions in so many different ways before there's nothing really new to add. I am open to fair and respectful criticism, as I believe everyone should be, and I know that I am certainly not perfect, but I can judge worthwhile criticism from what isn't and I, as I would not expect anyone to, am not going to encourage pointed or impolite comments as the way to go about making suggestions. --Happy editing! Sincerely, Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 01:33, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

So my comment that I had lost respect in you for deleting comments was worthless? Sephiroth BCR's comment about archiving talk page sections when a discussion changes was worthless? Jaysweet's comment about the deletion discussion page was worthless? I know this isn't my or your talk page but I don't think it's cool to let that slide. You can respond here, or on my talk page, or not. Sephiroth BCR, as this is your talk page, if you think this interjection is out of line, remove it or let me know and I'll remove it. Protonk (talk) 06:05, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
No, no, I don't mind. Thanks for asking though. To LGRdC, you've basically said that whenever you don't like the way a discussion is going, you'll ignore it. You haven't addressed any of the concerns of anyone in that discussion. Discussion never moves past step one because you never answer the question. You reply with an evasive answer or consider yourself above the discussion (saying that you've "already answered the question", something not true in most cases, is saying that you're above the discussion. Reiterate your answer, if it is as clear as you claim it to be, if necessary, but don't be evasive). Both actions are worthy of contempt. What people are posting on that talk page is "fair and respectful criticism", to quote you. Doctorfluffy, for instance, is not uncivil nor unfair. He is asking you questions in a very straightforward manner about a clear and serious concern. That you fail to answer any of them in a prompt or direct manner shows a lack of any real maturity on your part. Archiving that entire discussion also demonstrates an equal lack of maturity. It just shows that you are unwilling to accept that you have a problem and need to address it. No one here will respect you in any fashion until you do that. sephiroth bcr (converse) 06:24, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

I've recently been dealing with a rash of uploaded images that are obvious copyright infringements but administrators don't usually want to get their hands dirty in that :) Also, I think I've had at least a few dozen {{editprotected}} requests, mostly on templates, to add some code or something and I think a lot of administrators are afraid of editing any template. Question

Today, I started cleaning the character article Kyo Kusanagi. Its the first time I clean a video game character. Could you give some reliable sources to reception such as IGN? I have no idea what image is needed to be used in the lead, the initial which is from the first games or the new one? Also, how much long is a Featured list review? I hope List of Naruto characters becomes FL. See you.Tintor2 (talk) 23:31, 28 July 2008 (UTC)

I also saw that Gamespot make have multiple reviews but may of the are by some members, are they also reliable. Last thing, I noted that the GA videogame character do not have a character outline section, is it important to add it? Thanks and sorry for bothering.Tintor2 (talk) 00:25, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Is it necessary to keep the Game appearances? some of those games are improved version from others such as KOF: Maximum Impact and The King of Fighters: Maximum Impact: Maniax.Tintor2 (talk) 16:17, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I would be happy to collaborate with you and Gonzo. I'm not familiar with these types of lists, so if you could show me a similar type of list, I can get started. Thanks! « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 01:41, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Giving it a quick glance, the lead obviously needs some expanding. Can you spot anything else? « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 01:47, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
I'm in, I'll give it a read through tomorrow night and see what I can do. « Gonzo fan2007 (talkcontribs) @ 09:36, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Yes, I tried that during the contest. (It had to be moved back because I completely forgot that I had to work on it). There are several films with 5 awards. Are you sure you want to move it? « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 13:49, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Something that my interest you (think "username"...)

Photograph of my basset hound whose tail is bandaged following surgery that removed a couple of inches of her tail.

Hey! I recently picked up Soulcalibur IV (my hound bit off her stitches for a second time a day ago and so I really needed something to cheer me up) and so looked online for some information on discussion forums concerning the game and came across this, which I thought might interest you, i.e. if you are into both Final Fantasy and Soulcalibur. --Happy editing! List of Bleach antagonists

How does this look for a framework? StardustDragon 19:25, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Many thanks!

Thank you...

...for participating in my RfA, which closed with 119 in support, 4 neutral and 5 opposes. I'm honestly overwhelmed at the level of support that I've received from the community, and will do my best to maintain the trust placed in me. I 'm also thankful to those who opposed or expressed a neutral position, for providing clear rationales and superb feedback for me to build on. I've set up a space for you to provide any further feedback or thoughts, should you feel inclined to. However you voted, thanks for taking the time out to contribute to the process, it's much appreciated. Kind regards, Gazimoff 21:53, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
