Anne-Marie Trevelyan home address
I removed the link to Anne-Marie's home address from the page, as it is a clear security risk to her children. It is perfectly possible to outline who her husband is without posting a link to her home. She has received death threats in the past and is concerned not to advertise where she lives in order to safeguard her children. — Preceding unsigned comment added by EJ1904 (talk • contribs) 16:41, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
- Please discuss on the article talk page. Her address is published all over the internet, it is no secret, the Wikipedia article doesn't even suggest it is her address? Theroadislong (talk) 16:46, 11 July 2017 (UTC)
Regarding the title of WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality)
Hi! Thanks for accepting the creation of the WASPI (Women Against State Pension Inequality) article. I wasn't the initial creator of the AfC so I didn't play any part in its existing name. However, after looking at the format for existing articles about political advocacy groups, I noticed that the title of these types of article tends to be the group's full name with no abbreviations (i.e. Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament or Campaign Against Arms Trade). To fit this pattern, I thought it might make most sense to re-name the article to 'Women Against State Pension Inequality'. I would have brought this up on the talk page, but since the article is so new, I thought it might be best to consult you. Maesterial (talk) 18:15, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
- I've done that, it seems like a better title, thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 18:38, 12 July 2017 (UTC)
Thank you
Hi, Theroadislong, thank you for reviewing my Draft:Savages and letting me know about the final result of it (that it was declined). I initially intended to make a template for Savages, not a page and I just found out the exact way how to create it by the time that draft was already on the waiting list.

Lynnie Godfrey submission
Thanks so much for your feedback -- I'm (obviously) new to this. I am not Lynnie Godfrey -- she is a performer that I have worked with, and felt her biography was worthy of submission, given her Broadway and extensive television credentials. She is listed on Wikipedia under several topics, but does not have a page. I'll be reworking the submission, with better references, as mentioned and re-submitting. Bullfrog Power page edits
Hello Theroadislong, I see that you reverted my edits to Bullfrog Power's wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullfrog_Power). The edits I made were to update out of date information and to provide legitimate sources for information on the company. I listed myself on the talk page has having a connection to the company as an employee. Is there an issue with the substance of the changes? Or, would it be possible to find out how I can legitimately update the page with factually correct information in accordance with the guidelines? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Jmckaybullfrog (talk) 15:45, 13 July 2017 (UTC)
- Your edit added external links to the body of the article, Wikipedia doesn't use them. The content was overtly promotional and mostly sourced from your own website. Please read WP:42. In short: Wikipedia has essentially no interest in anything that a subject says or wants to say about itself: it is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject have published about it, in reliable places. You are welcome to suggest any changes on the talk page of the article but as you have a clear conflict of interest I would advise you not to edit the article directly. New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
- Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.
Technology update:
- Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
- The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:
- User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js adds a link to the new pages feed and page curation toolbar to your top toolbar on Wikipedia
- User:The Earwig/copyvios.js adds a link in your side toolbox that will run the current page through
General project update:
- Following discussion at Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers, Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Noticeboard has been marked as historical. Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers is currently the most active central discussion forum for the New Page Patrol project. Qestion about edits on Smith & Williamson
Hello! Thanks for your message.
I'm new to Wikipedia so please bear with me if i'm asking obvious questions.
Could you clarify your objections to the edits I made so that I can try again? I didn't consider it to be promotional and merely stated facts about the company and what it does, but it may have been a couple of uses of words such as 'leading' and 'significant'. Would it help if I removed any language like this?
I also disclosed my conflict of interest as someone connected to the company and put the article forward for review on that basis (at least, I think I did, hopefully I did it correctly but my apologies if not!)
Many thanks for your help
C.Rums87 (talk) 11:36, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
- Your edit removed maintenance templates, removed references and correctly referenced material and replaced it with promotional content sourced to their own website and written in a promotional manner. You have not declared your [[WP:COI|conflict of interest on your user page or the article page. This is why I reverted your edit. you are welcome to suggest changes on the article talk page. Theroadislong (talk) 14:21, 19 July 2017 (UTC)
Ah, I see, thank you for clarifying! I thought I had declared my conflict of interest - I've obviously not used the template correctly. I will suggest changes on the article talk page - again, I'm new to this, so thank you for your help! — Preceding unsigned comment added by C.Rums87 (talk • contribs) 08:17, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
Review my submission - Assetz Property Group
Hi,
I have updated my article as per wiki guidelines. It would be great if you can review my draft again. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Assetz_Property_Group
Jogideep (talk) 12:36, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
Since the time that the COI tag was originally added, the content on the page has been completely overhauled if you look back at edits. Nearly all content added by editors with declared COI has been replaced. I'm not sure how to challenge the newly added COI tag other than to remove it under the pretense that the issue has been addressed and it no longer applies. Can you be more specific about the current info on the page that you feel has been added by a COI editor? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Info editor11 (talk • contribs) 14:22, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
- There have been at least 7 conflict of interest editors including yourself, if you were to stop editing the article and only make suggestions on the talk page then the template could be removed. Theroadislong (talk) 14:31, 20 July 2017 (UTC)
Thank you
I really appreciate your accepting my article page on Carlo Pittore. I have created articles before without posting a request; but this particular article was brought into question for what I now consider inexcusable sloppiness and poor editing on my behalf. It was called out by another editor (and rightly so); and gave me a better direction to re-create the article correctly. I wanted to submit the article so that an experienced editor such as yourself could review it with the proper WP standards at hand just to see if I was indeed on the right track. Thank you, again. It gives me hope in my continued journey toward proper editing here at WP. Best. Maineartists (talk) 21:07, 20 July 2017 (UTC)

There is too much incorrect information and I'm a public figure.

Request on 13:52:57, 25 July 2017 for assistance on AfC submission by AmaranthMiscat
Hi. I'm the user who wrote about the YouTuber (Miscat Squad). This is my first time using Wikipedia and I hope to start writing about upcoming YouTubers. I need a ton of help with my article it's titled Draft: Katya Szewczuk. Are there any specific links I need to add? Or should I not include her production work with other entities? Not sure how this works. Let me know.

AmaranthMiscat (talk) 13:52, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
- As I commented on your submission, Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject have published about her in reliable places. You need to establish notability by adding references that show there is widespread in depth coverage of them in reliable sources independent of them. Your sources so far are only primary ones. Theroadislong (talk) 14:00, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) "Up and coming" (not upcoming'; the latter is an illiteracy) people have no place here. Wikipedia is a place for articles about persons who have already become notable.
COI tag
Please remove the COI tag on the Sandhills Publishing page in light of the edits you recently made to remove statements identified as puffery.

- I’m not sure why you think I spent 30 seconds reviewing your article? When I reviewed Draft:Garage Sale Documentary the submission read like an advertisement and had a number of IMDb sources which are not reliable sources. You have removed the unreliable sources, thank you, but the content still reads like an advert terms like “ inimitable comedian” are not encyclopaedic. Another user User:SwisterTwister has since declined the article for a second time on the grounds of notability. Theroadislong (talk) 20:24, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
Swallow Reef
Regarding: This is NOT an advert for the resort though it reads like one. I agree! (Though perhaps unnecessarily leaving the ref behind would have left people like me trying to find justification to get there. (And it's so much cheaper than the Great Barrier Reef ... ) ) Cheers, and thanks for your support, Pdfpdf (talk) 15:28, 1 August 2017 (UTC)

Personal attack comment
Dear User, It is usually said that attack the content, not the user. Then why should the users comment on the content in the first place, even though the content is logical and makes sense? Why are you guys against the first timers on Wikipedia? It's an open forum, right? Anybody can edit the content, right? Then only one thing can be concluded. Most of the users are discriminatory.

G4 speedy tag
Apparently you tagged Journey Juju Brener with a {{db-g4}} tag (I surmise from this edit to the article creator's talk page). I would argue that this was an inappropriate tag. Although there was a prior AFD for this page, the page was speedily deleted without a proper discussion, so WP:CSD#G4 doesn't really apply in this case. (Certainly other criteria, such as WP:CSD#A7 may have applied, but given Brener's already lengthy credits, that could be argued.) WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:39, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

Asking People or "Suggesting" People Leave Wikipedia?
Hello. I noticed in the Teahouse you posted a suggestion:
- Then I would respectfully suggest that you leave as you are not here to build an encyclopedia. Theroadislong (talk) 13:38, 5 August 2017 (UTC)
You assumed another user was not "here to build an encyclopedia." You suggested the person "leave." Was this entirely necessary? The topic of the person's issue had nothing to do with editing. Nothing to do with "building an encyclopedia." Yes, in this respect the person wasn't here, building anything. The person's query was an issue with access, with viewing Wikipedia. You actually asked a person to leave Wikipedia over an issue that had nothing to do with editing. I don't see your perspective. I would be suggestive to you, in turn, to instead, welcome people to use Wikipedia, with prudence and alacrity, rather than suggest the person leaves. Hope this helps. B'H.

- You are correct of course, thank you. But remember, Wikipedia is NOT CENSORED. Theroadislong (talk) 18:21, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- Having followed the discussion I would submit that it was about more than accessing Wikipedia but also about a philosophical clash between cultures and the possibility that Wikipedia is incompatible with the user's culture and or religion. Saying it was just about access is an oversimplification. 331dot (talk) 19:17, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- You are correct of course, thank you. But remember, Wikipedia is NOT CENSORED. Theroadislong (talk) 18:21, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Theroadislong: the fact that Wikipedia isn't censored is not justification for asking people to leave Wikipedia. Even if a person was actively editing out content in the interest of censoring Wikipedia, I do suppose that the person would be warned and perhaps frozen from editing temporarily. The situation would not call for you, nor anyone, to kick the person out of Wikipedia, nor even so much as suggest that the person leave. In any case, this has nothing to do with what you were addressing in Teahouse. You were responding to an entirely different topic, not having to do with censorship. The user was asking a simple question, in an utterly unhostile manner, you responded in what may easily be construed as inhospitable at least, and possibly hostile, at worst. You should apologize. B'H.

Hi!
You left me a message about my edit of Saint Gobain page. To be honest I'm not sure why it was classified as 'puffery spam'. Sure - links to corporate pages may not be greatest source of information, but as mentioned events took place in 1990 - there is probably the only source of information on the internet.
If those sources are low quality - sure I can remove it, but I suppose cutting whole paragraph is too much - Abrasives division is one of the largest part of this company and it's not mentioned on wikipedia.
Disclaimer: I am not an employee of Saint Gobain and I do not work for then in any way.

sandbox/SunRype Cider
There is a long list of Cider Brands here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cider_brands Parameter to be added to the list is to have an article on the cider brand. I looked at the articles and they talk about content, alcohol content and brand appearance. That's what I put in the article. It's actually one of the very few ciders made in British Columbia and the cider brand page could really use some Canadian content as it's a heavily biased to the Brits. Apples grow in other parts of the world and cider is produced in other parts of the world. Please advise on what is not appropriate in the article and I am happy to tweak it? Mgyani created his account on July 20, while Manik.sarna was indef blocked on July 10. This might be enough for a checkuser. Can't say I would do a DUCK block myself. Some bubble tea for you!
I hereby award you with this delicious bubble tea for your commentary on a recent article I submitted for review (OpenBuilds). Though you had to reject the submission request due to a lack of independent references, I took your comments to heart and have since edited my article draft with 7-8 additional independent references and would greatly appreciate it if you could/would look over my draft again and offer me any additional advice if I am interested in resubmitting after this revision. Thoughts regarding would be greatly appreciated!! Langley242 (talk) 20:21, 29 August 2017 (UTC) |

Hey Theroadislong,
You caught me at a bad time. I actually was fixing the page from the previous edits that were cleared by Mean as Mustard. He told me what I was doing wrong and how to correct it. I was just undoing the previous edit he made and fixing the information. Sorry if I was taking long I was putting in the references. I should Have saved it more often so you would have been abe to see. Is it ok if I undo your edit and continue with what I was doing?
Also is there a way for me to put up a "hey I know my page is too promotional and I am fixing it as we speak so please do not erase my work" sign? lol MB717 (talk) 19:57, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
- The content you were adding is entirely promotional in nature, adding references will not help. Wikipedia is written in a dispassionate neutral tone using reliable independent sources. Theroadislong (talk) 19:59, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
Ok, may I have one more shot at it? I have a feeling I can get it right this time around. I will even make sure to run it by you if that is alright with you? MB717 (talk) 20:09, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
Alright I am going to take another shot at it and be complete heartless and monotone with all the text. If I may have till mid day tomorrow I can get back to you with all the edits and hopefully you approve! MB717 (talk) 20:33, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
Never mind I am making a draft first! I will show you it when I am done. MB717 (talk) 20:57, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
edits OK for Louis Reingold article?
Hi, Theroadislong, I am checking to see if my most recent edits were OK. I received a message from you on August 25, 2017, that said "Comment: please remove all external links from the body of the article or convert to references where appropriate Theroadislong (talk) 15:58, 25 August 2017 (UTC)". I made some changes based on this and now I am wondering if there is anything else I need to do to fix this. Or is the article now being edited for content at this point? This is my first Wikipedia article so I am not familiar with the process. Thanks for your help! Best wishes, Amanda Seigel Librarian Dorot Jewish Division, New York Public Library

Hi
The article is about a notable person , kindly help me to keep in name space. He is a young Entrepreneur and the concept on which he is working is quite unique and new in terms of safe guarding technologies from Cyber crime. He managed to get incubation from MRIU. All of the above he is just 18, we need to appreciate him. Hoping a positive response from your side.

This is a victim, name and family name, of a hate homicide in the frame of a civil war in Italy. Should her memory be forgotten? Should facts be denied? If so, wikipedia is USELESS.
I mentioned the book, published, where I took the sources.
There are a plenty of individuals that should not be on wikipedia, because their notoriety is dubious. And... your indication are completely misleading me in what is missing:
- Giuseppina Ghersi was not enough notorius? Do you know all the victims of the Holocaust? - Source: should I put footnotes? - I wrote it consulting several sources and limiting my self only to those mentioned in the most famous italian book about postwar events in Italy.
Not copy-paste job.
Could you kindly indicate me what is missing?
Thanks
- You have not included any sources. Wikipedia requires every fact to be supported by a source. See WP:REFSTART for help with referencing. Theroadislong (talk) 17:52, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter
Backlog update:
- The new page backlog is currently at 14304 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a day.
- Currently there are 532 pages in the backlog that were created by non-autoconfirmed users before WP:ACTRIAL. The NPP project is undertaking a drive to clear these pages from the backlog before they hit the 90 day Google index point. Please consider reviewing a few today!
Technology update:
- The Wikimedia Foundation is currently working on creating a new filter for page curation that will allow new page patrollers to filter by extended confirmed status. For more information see: T175225
General project update:
- On 14 September 2017 the English Wikipedia began the autoconfirmed article creation trial. For a six month period, creation of articles in the mainspace of the English Wikipedia will be restricted to users with autoconfirmed status. New users who attempt article creation will now be redirected to a newly designed landing page.
- Before clicking on a reference or external link while reviewing a page, please be careful that the site looks trustworthy. If you have a question about the safety of clicking on a link, it is better not to click on it.
- To keep up with the latest conversation on New Pages Patrol or to ask questions, you can go to Wikipedia talk:New pages patrol/Reviewers and add it to your watchlist.
If you wish to opt-out of future mailings, go here. TonyBallioni (talk) 02:16, 19 September 2017 (UTC)

Deletion of Claremont Rug Company page
Hello, When updating the Bakshaish, Caucasian, Sultanabad pages I added in information for Claremont Rug Company's website's Rug Type Guide pages which provides scholarly information on the origin, colors, design, and rich history of these Persian Rugs. My intention was not to advertise or promote Claremont Rug Company but to give reference and complimentary imagery to where the information came from. Our page has now been deleted and I request that it please be restored and in the future, I will not add written content to corresponding pages from our website. My intention was to provide more educational information about these types of rugs to enhance the user experience when searching through Wikipedia for these rug types and then reference the source not to promote our website. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rug Connoisseur (talk • contribs) 01:09, 21 September 2017 (UTC)

Claremont Rug Company editing
Since they're reaching out to you... The number of WP:SPA accounts involved, and the different editing patterns from them suggest paid editing. I'm guessing it's the typical situation where the employees of Claremont Rug Company have become frustrated with their progress in promoting their company on Wikipedia, and have hired others to help. At some point, they hired Garytobin (talk · contribs) [2]. Too bad none of the accounts have simply declared their conflict of interest and tried to work openly with others.
How much have you looked into the situation? Is what I'm seeing similar to your perspective? --Ronz (talk) 16:15, 21 September 2017 (UTC)
- Haven't really investigated though User:Ritka Avikara, User:Antiquerugexpert and User:INDIAN REVERTER2 seem to be connected too. Theroadislong (talk) 16:26, 21 September 2017 (UTC)

- Antiquerugexpert is a part of the nazmiyalantiquerugs.com spamming. I'm not sure if it's related other than the nazmiyalantiquerugs.com spamming makes a (bad) example for others (azerbaijanrugs.com, claremontrug.com, catwalkrugs.com.au) to follow.

If that represents a conflict of interest, please let me know and how I could otherwise ensure that the page is correct? thanks CiderUK (talk) 11:34, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

JT Global
Hi Theroadislong. I hope all is well. My name is Julien Morel and I support JT Global with its communications (I work for a PR agency in Jersey, Channel Islands). I'm new to updating Wikipedia so I need a bit of hand-holding. I've had a quick live chat with Wikipedia who have been really helpful - so I've now declared an interest and posted a short message on the JT Global talk page. It's late on Friday here in Jersey so I'm going to rest for the weekend and tackle this on Monday but I'd really appreciate some guidance on getting these update approved. I guess I need fewer references from the JT Global website?
- so you will need to find independent sources which cover the company in depth. Theroadislong (talk) 17:13, 29 September 2017 (UTC)
JT Global
Thanks Theroadislong. I'll go through my entry and use as many independent sources as I can. Can I update my existing revision (that you took down) or do I have to start afresh? And it is ok to use some references from the JT Global site? Some facts will only be found there.
- You will need to make suggestions on the talk page for each edit you want to make, paid editing is VERY seriously discouraged here. Theroadislong (talk) 17:46, 29 September 2017 (UTC)

Susan Tedeschi and David Lemieux page additions
Hi,
This is my first time using Wiki as an editor, so please bear with me. These interviews, are similar to many other links to articles about the artists (or archivist in David's case). For people interested in their work, what better source than a personal interview with the source topic?
There is a link on Susan's page, directly before the one I added: Interview with Tedeschi in Performing Musician magazine
I'm not sure I understand the difference.

- Writing about the company you work for is probably the most difficult task on Wikipedia. I strongly advise you not to.Your draft is supported by content written by the owner of the company. Wikipedia has essentially no interest in anything that a subject says or wants to say about itself: it is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject have published about it, in reliable places. Hi I noticed you left me a message on my talk page warning me about unconstructive edits to Pete Sampras, could you please explain why my edits were seen as unconstructive edits. I added thid information Sampras has been widely considered by many tennis analysts to be the greatest male grass player of all time, due to his 7 Wimbledon victories in 8 years from 1993-2000, and being undefeated in the 7 Wimbledon finals he contested in, After Roger Federer won his record eight Wimbledon title in 2017, Pat Cash and John McEnroe lauded Federer to the greatest male grass court player of all time. - Wikipedia has essentially no interest in anything that a subject says or wants to say about itself: it is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject have published about it, in reliable places. You are welcome to suggest any changes on the talk page of the article but as you have a clear conflict of interest I would advise you not to edit the article directly. Theroadislong (talk) 09:42, 12 October 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Dougmarshall: (chiming in uninvited.) Theroadislong is correct. Clearly, if you work for the subject of an article, you have a conflict of interest. I view addition of information in an article from the corporate website as spam. This also raises the spectre of paid editing. You need to read that carefully. I cannot see how you are not a paid editor-- it is your job to market the subject. IMO, you need to make a declaration on your userpage. You are hereby discouraged from editing until you address that matter, particularly in areas connected with your employer. If you are only interested in tailoring the article about your employer, there is another spectre lurking in the shadows-- WP:nothere. Let us not venture too far in that direction. Hope this helps.Dlohcierekim (talk) 15:01, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

Gordon Ramasy height
Hi I have read various sources and heard claims from himself that Gordon Ramasay is 6 feet 2 inches tall, this is really interesting , there is a photo of kate ford who plays Tracey Barlow in Coronation street with Gordon ramasy I think it was at the 2007 soap awards when kate won award for storyline where she murdered Charlie Stubbs in January 2007 , now kate must have been wearing heels there, but if she is 5'8 without heels as she claimed then she cannot be over 6'0 in heels but she was almost the same height as Gordon ramasy ! how does that make sense when Gordon Ramasy has said he is 6'2 , , if you type in kate ford 2007 soap awards into search engine you will see it, either kate is taller than she claims or Gordon is not even as tall as 6ft, apparently on celebrity heights Rob Paul when he studied a screenshot from an episode of the F word from 2007 where he was measured on a stadiometer by the supermodel Erin O Connor who claimed he was 6'3.5 he was really just under 6'2.5 Barefoot or shoes we do not know, but even that is suspicious so what height is he really ? This was edited by John from Idegon who said it's neutral now. Why is everyone picking on the girl? Please reread. It's been a long debacle on how to write about a company. John retracted the article from the deleted file and helped me edit it. It's very neutral, much more so than the linked Wiki page to Mercury, which owns this company. If you disagree, please point out where it's not neutral. Afarin Majidi (talk) 21:26, 20 October 2017 (UTC) 21:21, 20 October 2017 (UTC)
- Please don't mis-represent what others have said. John from Idegon actually said this…"A)I have not substatially edited this draft; B) altho this still seems promo, the big issue is the lack of notability (you have 0 reliable independent sources discussing the subject in detail); C) the only reason this was restored was so others could advise you - no one advised you to submit it; indeed more than one said there was no chance for it to succeed and D) I am not, not have I ever represented myself as, an administrator, nor did I in any way indicate the neutrality issue had been addressed. I've renominated it for speedy deletion. You have not got an article here."
