Deletion discussion about Albert Kim

[edit]

Hello VoightKampff, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Albert Kim, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Albert Kim.

Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|North8000}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

@North8000: Thanks for the discussion. I admit I'm new to the process so I may have made some mistakes with the article. In terms of notability, I didn't include all the media coverage that accompanied the launch of Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender, which Kim created. I was researching the show and noticed he didn't have a page, which is why I created it. Would it help to list some of the articles and interviews with him? A quick Google search turns up many hits. @North8000: I've also noticed several outside links (about ten) to the article already. Not sure if that helps or not. VoightKampff (talk) 22:58, 18 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello VoightKampff! Long story short, you'll need to find and add 1 or 2 independent published sources which cover him in depth. If you can't find those IMHO there should not be a separate article on him. The main guideline regarding this is WP:Notability

Being a new editor, you picked the absolutely roughest way to start.....creating a whole new article.  :-) Maybe try something easier to get started? Sincerely, North8000 (talk) 01:33, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@North8000: I've actually edited articles in the past, starting about seven years ago. But this is my first time creating a new article!
I've found several published stories about him, including in Entertainment Weekly, The Hollywood Reporter, and the New York Times. Actually, while looking up these sources I found some new information about his past work, which I've added to the article. I also added some more sourcing for the existing material, and got rid of one of the questionable sources you mentioned along with the corresponding information in the article.
I think all of this helps in terms of notability, but let me know what you think. Thanks! VoightKampff (talk) 03:46, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
When I said that I took a close look at those two sources I meant that they were the best possibilities at being WP:GNG sources, not the most questionable.North8000 (talk) 14:52, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@North8000: Oops! Sorry about that. I restored the sources. I also reviewed GNG guidelines and I think the sources I added (including the New York Times, the Hollywood Reporter, NBC News, and others will help. There were a lot of other sources but they felt repetitive so I didn't include them. Let me know if you think anything else is needed. Thanks again for all your help!
