Fails WP:NOTABILITY. It is another new hotel which was recently opened in Colombo. The hotel belongs to a larger construction project called One Galle Face. The parent article could easily include any information that is on this page. Rehman 16:21, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
- Agreed, somewhat half heartedly. The hotel itself is notable for being the main Shangri-La property on the island. The page is currently bare and outdated, but I§ dont know if, at some point in the future when the article is more fleshed-out, it'd fit on the One Galle Face page. On balance, I'd say move it to the parent article with an agreement we move it to an article of its own when and if it becomes sizeable content. - ක - (talk) 16:39, 9 February 2018 (UTC)
- Of course. That makes perfect sense. :-) I am also fine with turning this into a redirect for now. Rehman 23:39, 9 February 2018 (UTC)

- Keep - Besides being the 6th tallest building in Sri Lanka, the Robb Report did an in-depth article on it and The Telegraph did a review of it.[1][2] Other in-depth coverage by both national and international press exists. [3][4] And if it's notable enough to be officially opened by both the President and Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, [5], then it's notable. --Oakshade (talk) 02:02, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
- @Oakshade. It is most certainly not the 6th tallest building. It was supposed to be when it started construction, but at least a dozen or more already surpassed it (with many more taller buildings under construction), including Altair, Grand Hyatt, Destiny, Clearpoint, Astoria, One Galle Face Residencies, and more. The article which you've referred to (List of tallest structures in Sri Lanka) is outdated unfortunately (updating it is in my to-do). Furthermore, here in Sri Lanka (where I am currently living), the President or PM more often than not attends the inauguration of most large private and government projects, hence that cannot be taken as a definite measurement on notability. Kind regards, Rehman 04:41, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
- I believe you in that it's no longer the 6th tallest in the country, but that's really a red herring as that doesn't take away the in-depth coverage this property has received as it's significant in the development of high-end tourism (currently the most expensive hotel in the city) and economic development of Colombo and recently war-torn Sri Lanka as a whole. And yes, PMs and Presidents do a lot of photo-ops, but mostly to notable large private and public projects. They didn't waste their time opening of the Colombo Best Western (yes, Colombo has a Best Western).--Oakshade (talk) 20:40, 11 February 2018 (UTC)

- Keep - There is enough covergage to satisfy notability. If anything, One Galle Face should be redirected to Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo as most of it's sources are about to the hotel.--Obi2canibe (talk) 20:45, 11 February 2018 (UTC)
- Keep, based on coverage discussed above. There are too many AFDs on buildings that are among the tallest in their country or city, which could possibly end with a redirect to the corresponding list-article of tallest buildings, but hardly ever should the AFD lead to the article being deleted. So, the AFD should not be opened. Open a merger discussion at the talk page of the article instead. --Doncram (talk) 02:50, 16 February 2018 (UTC)
