- File:Textbook Cartel Holding Chang Hostage.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Drywater2k (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
Non-free TV episode screenshot, used in infobox, not connected to analytical commentary, not the subject of coverage, not required to make article understood; shows apparently random scene, purely decorative. Article consists almost entirely of plot renarration, nothing in it to support any potentially legitimate image use. Fut.Perf. ☼ 08:22, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- That scene is not random. The image is a depiction of the depths of greed the group will go to make a profit upon seeing mint textbooks. That story was a Breaking Bad parody, and Chang was surrounded by Blue Books (like the famous Blue Meth in Breaking Bad), so the image shows that they would threaten him to keep their identities secret. The scene is pivotal because it depicts a turning point in the episode where Jeff gains a conscience after seeing Chang treated in such a manner, and becomes "sane." Jeff is then also punished for attempting to defect, showing how deep the group would go due to greed. Also, this image is not used for any other purpose that to highlight the group's follow and only on that page.Drywater2k (talk) 23:38, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
- You won't get this image kept just by renarrating the storyline here again. What you'd have to show to make a case for it would be: (a) that all these points you observed above were also noted and discussed in reliable published sources; (b) that the article discusses these points explicitly, and based on these reliable sources; (c) why all these points couldn't be understood properly from the discussion alone, without visual support. Fut.Perf. ☼ 08:45, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
- The IGN review[1] listed on the episode page discusses that plotline by saying how "[t]he idea of those books Shirley, Buzz and Jeff found quickly becoming akin to drugs was a pretty direct.... Shirley, ever the entrepreneur, got hardcore with the gang. By the end, all the characters in this storyline got their moment (except, to some extent, Jeff), including Chang, who got to be his weird self — even as part of a practiced story — when he talked about hiding all the books in order to, of course, kiss them." The quote also describes how Chang (the captured character) was held hostage and repeated a "practiced story" of hiding the books in order to kiss them, i.e., the false confession. The review even shows a screenshot of the scene that follows after the disputed image, where Jeff is hogtied and captured after he has his burst of conscience.
- This review from Badass.com[2] also wrote about how "Jeff, Hickey, and Shirley stumble upon a hidden cache of brand new Chemistry books that retail for 200 bucks ($160 street value, per Hickey), prompting them to try to move them and split the cash. But they need a buyer, so they bring in Britta who 'knows a guy'. It's a parody of any number of action/drama films where a stash of drugs is found, complete with backstabbing and greed, but over a bunch of textbooks." This article shows how the plotline involved being a parody to greed and backstabbing, where they turn on Jeff Winger in order to protect their interests.
- This critic[3] also describes the plot and how "Shirley is reticent at first but comes up with a master plan, and brings in Britta as their go-between, while Chang stumbles in because he uses the room to smoke marijuana, so they make him record a false confession. But trust falls apart the further their operation goes along." The disputed image illustrates this very scene where they make Chang record a false confession. The trust falls apart as a result of this confession because Jeff witnesses the inhuman treatment that Chang receives for stumbling unwittingly onto their master plan. The author of this review also shows a screen shot of the image that follows (Jeff being tied after his sudden growth of conscience) and laments how "I wish the drug deal gone bad/kidnapping subplot felt a little stronger. It though [sic] has some of the best elements of the night...."
- Thus, the disputed scene supports the points I made above of how this pivotal, watershed scene is to the episode. The above reliable reviews have discussed that specific scene and its consequences. These scenes would not be properly understood without the visual support of how the group bears down on Chang instead of fat dogging it. They have literally Broken Bad - becoming the very thing the episode parodies. Drywater2k (talk) 00:07, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- Nothing in what you quote contains anything that is in need of visual support to be adequately understood, and nothing in it involves any commentary on the visual detail of this scene or this frame. It doesn't really matter how important the scene is in the storyline (any storyline has some important key scene, that doesn't mean we include images for every story.) What matters is whether the significance of the scene can be understood from a description alone. Fut.Perf. ☼ 14:17, 20 March 2014 (UTC)
- The image punctuates the moral low of scene, discussed in each of articles above. The image personifies themes explored in the episode of backstabbing, kidnapping, and coercing Chang, leading to Jeff's change of heart. The group's ruthlessness leads them to this juncture in the image where they force him to make a false confession to protect their endeavor. The image provides the reader increased understanding of the article by illustrating this pivotal scene in the episode, without whose visual representation would diminish the reader's understanding of the article. I'm not understanding why the image is in dispute given this rationale for non-free content use, but if this file is to be deleted, how else can an image be used to illustrate this very point? Non-free TV episode screenshot, used in infobox. Apparently random scene, not connected to analytical commentary in article. The one visual detail that, according to the FUR, the image is meant to illustrate might in fact make for a legitimate point of analysis, but (a) this point is not in fact raised in the text at all, and is currently impossible for the reader to understand, and (b) if it were raised in the text, it could very easily made adequately understood through text alone and wouldn't be in need of visual illustration. Hence, a WP:NFCC#8 failure either way. Fut.Perf. ☼ 08:29, 16 March 2014 (UTC)

Cover art of the soundtrack (which is covered in the film article) is near exact of the movie poster, and thus duplicative and unnecessary per WP:NFCC#3a MASEM (t) 14:30, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Many, many other soundtrack album covers are very similar to the respective movie posters.
