Early life

[edit]

Cavon Paige was born on May 28, 2001, in West Memphis, Arkansas.[3] In an interview, Paige revealed that he began experimenting in the studio at 16, but didn't pursue hip-hop seriously until three years later, at 19.[4]

Career

[edit]

Rise to fame

[edit]

Paige launched his music career as a rising talent, starting to rap in early summer 2019. He then began releasing original songs, which earned him an audience.[5][6] He rose to fame in 2022 with the release of his single "Played Out", a trap song that served as his mainstream breakthrough.[7] The song's success garnered him further attention, leading to his signing with Moneybagg Yo's Bread Gang Entertainment.[8]

In March 2023, Fatt together with Fat Wizza and Moneybagg Yo himself, dropped "Shot Off Gumbo", with an accompanying music video,[9][10] and Moneybagg Yo eventually included the track on his mixtape Hard to Love, released in June 2023.[11] On June 2, 2023, YTB Fatt was featured on Moneybagg Yo's single "Rock Out", alongside fellow rapper Lil Durk.[12]

Fatt released the single "Get Back". The song boosted the popularity of Fatt, with over 13 million views on YouTube and over 30,000 views on the video-sharing app TikTok, receiving cosigns from notable figures like Lil Durk, B.G., and even the Cincinnati Bengals. Four months later, Fatt released the single "Calm It Down". After that, Fatt released two new singles: "Us" featuring Big Homiie G on July 11, 2023,[citation needed] and "Bet I Whip It" featuring Rob49 on July 18, 2023.[13]

On August 8, 2023, YTB Fatt released his debut mixtape, Who is Fatt.[14] It debuted at number four on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums charts.[15] On August 10, 2023, YTB Fatt released "Poppin It Hard".[16] He also released Who Is Fatt (extended clip) on August 18, 2023.[citation needed] After releasing several singles, Fatt released an extended play, Fox Prelude, on October 20, 2023.[17][18]

Following the release of his EP, Fox Prelude, YTB Fatt collaborated with rapper Lil Durk and the label Only The Family, appearing on "Last One" off the compilation album Nightmares in the Trenches on November 17, 2023.[19] He also released the mixtape Fox Only, featuring Lil Yachty, BabyDrill, and GloRilla, on December 15, 2023.[20][21]

On March 9, 2024, YTB Fatt was featured on fellow rapper DeeBaby's single "Oil Change".[22] On March 26, 2024, he released the single "Same" which samples Usher and R. Kelly's song "Same Girl".[23] On April 9, 2024, he was also featured on OT7 Quanny's single "I Did It".[24] On May 14, 2024, YTB Fatt released a new single, "In The Air", featuring Alabama rapper Rylo Rodriguez, with an accompanying music video.[25][26]
