Hi, I did not understand well. The article has been banned or should I just correct it. All fonts used were provided by the artist himself.

Kawartha Credit Union article declined

Hi, I am confused and disappointed that you have declined to have this article. There are many referenced and verified sources in it. I do not believe it reads like an advertisement. It is factual, concise and sourced. This is a very large credit union that had an article on wikipedia for well over a decade before it was deleted. Without any specific feedback I can't change it.

Draft:Chief_Pat

Hi Theroadislong! Thanks for the feedback on the Draft:Chief_Pat page.

You noted that you had denied approval because YouTube was referenced for 7 of the 15 sources, however a majority of the YouTube citations were related to channel statistics/milestones that were rather obvious and perhaps not needing sourcing (1, 2, 5, and 6). Would it be better to remove those 4 references?

Otherwise, are the 8 other sources sufficient? There are other snippets that could be added with more colorful commentary, i.e. "Few individuals around the world are as synonymous within the mobile gaming scene as Chief Pat is" from https://www.invenglobal.com/articles/8269/igec-panel-highlight-mobile-esports-the-worlds-largest-niche-community, but I opted to keep things more clear-cut. I'd love to hear your feedback.

Here are some articles I'm using as reference for either gaming YouTubers, or esports organization founders/CEOs: Andy Dinh, OMGitsfirefoxx, Hafu_(video_game_player), Trump_(video_game_player)

Dave Taranto

On 14th December I let the community know that I am writing an article on a producer, radio announcer and promoter David Taranto. It was rejected on the grounds that it wasn't relevant enough.

I believe I didn't provide enough information about the subject, or gave misleading info on my intentions, which might have made it appear that the article might be a bit amateurish. I hope I didn't mislead. I must stress that an article on David Taranto would provide crucial historical information on the Australian comedy industry.

I should explain. In the Melbourne comedy industry in the 1990s, David - Dave - Taranto showcased many Australian comedians who became international acts such as The Doug Anthony Allstars and Lano and Woodley, who received the Edinburgh Fringe's Perrier Award. The BBC subsequently produced a TV series starring Lano and Woodley. He promoted and broadcast many other successful comedy acts in the 1990s. Dave's untimely death in 1999 put an end to his short career. But a number of producers and myself feel that that specific era in Australian comedy is missing from the industry's history. I would like to create an article to provide the public with details of his career and activities. There are a number of other colleagues who will contribute information and edit facts.

To help you get a clearer picture, I am a performer, comedy writer, dramatic actor and playwright. In constructing a Wikipedia article I am committed to providing a professional product.

I have provided information taken from Melbourne newspaper The Age' Bold text for your information.

https://Cite error: There are <ref> tags on this page without content in them (see the ).www.theage.com.au/entertainment/tv-and-radio/tv-and-radio-comedys-new-centre-stage-20021230-gduzxw.html

I hope this allays any concerns you have regarding the importance of the article. I will proceed very slowly in slowly gathering verifiable facts and consult with other professionals amongst the comedy contributors. If you want further information about me, I have an IMDb page. There are also a number of articles about me online.

Thank you for your feedback, Theroadislong. Much appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Frederick - Fred - Rowan.

How do I verify without the external links?

Hello Theroadislong, In your edit, you state: "Please remove all external links from the body of the article, we don't use them."

How am I supposed to verify that the the information has been covered by multiple, not-connected sources?

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by JamesRushLTU (talkcontribs) 19:11, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

JamesRushLTU I guess you are referring to your draft Draft:Lutheran Education Association. You can use some of the external links as references, but not the blogs which are not reliable and preferably not your own website as that isn't independent. Please also be aware that Wikipedia is not a venue for promoting anything, which is what you appear to be doing. Theroadislong (talk) 19:24, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@JamesRushLTU: There is a subtle difference between 'removing external links from the body of the article' and 'removing external links from the article'. You argue about the latter whilst the message you quote above contains the former.
You certainly need external links to sources (WP:Reliable sources to be precise) to make your contribution verifiable. But you need them as appropriately formatted and inserted inline citations, not bare URLs hidden under the text. Please see WP:Referencing for beginners for a simple introduction to referencing. --(talk page stalker) CiaPan (talk) 21:00, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(by talk page stalker) @Theroadislong and JamesRushLTU: I have removed EL from the draft's body, converting some of them into references (some wer duplicated in references already) and edited a bit – Special:Diff/938294833. Still no indication of notability though... --CiaPan (talk) 08:43, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. Theroadislong, is it OK to continue this thread here, or should I rather post this follow-up at the James' talk page? --CiaPan (talk) 08:43, 30 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The organization exists is a fact. Not trying to promote the organization, just put it out there as a legitimate organization. The NEA, National Education Association, has an article, what if I used that as a model to include links to verify without promoting? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JamesRushLTU (talkcontribs) 19:38, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

JamesRushLTU Merely existing is not a sufficient reason to warrant a Wikipedia article, the association needs to be notable. The article National Education Association is well written in a neutral tone and is well referenced by independent reliable sources, so yes it would be a good article to base yours on. Bear in mind that Wikipedia has no interest in what the articles subject wants to say about itself, only what reliable sources have reported. Theroadislong (talk) 19:51, 15 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Confused

I dont seem to be able to reply to your previous message so trying here. You mentioned: 'There is no parameter in the film info box for your job description though and Wikipedia'. Film pages also have a link to imdb which is considered as a 'reliable source' of information. Production Design is seen on a par with Director of Photography and Editing. They are all 'front screen credits' so are of equal merit so should be listed on Wikipedia. I often go to Wikipedia to find out information about a film.--Sticks,stones,bones (talk) 19:32, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sticks, stones, bones The reason I reverted your edits is because the film info box does NOT have a parameter for production designer, I can't help that, it is just a matter of fact. (When you added your name it did not appear in the article's info box). Wikipedia doesn't have to list everyone involved in a film only those that have been covered in-depth by reliable sources. A production designer might be mentioned in the article itself if they have received coverage in independent sources, but not as a matter of course Wikipedia is not like IMdb, it's not a listing and incidentally IMDb has never been considered a reliable source because it is user generated. Theroadislong (talk) 19:44, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Why then is Director of Photography and editing listed?--Sticks,stones,bones (talk) 19:49, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sticks, stones, bones Listed where? They are not in the info box template? The film info box template and it's parameters can be viewed here [1] any parameter which is not shown in the template will not appear in the article info box. Theroadislong (talk) 20:01, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Listed where? Sorry, I dont understand? DOP is very clearly listed in the box on the right hand side of the page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Father_(2020_film) Please explain, everything I ask you seems to evoke an abrupt response which isnt helpful to those of us trying to understand the way wikipedia works. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sticks, stones, bones (talkcontribs) 20:10, 22 January 2020 (UTC) Apologies, to be clear, DOP is listed as Cinematography (DOP is an abreviation we use for it 'Director of Photography')[reply]
I'm sorry that you don't understand what I am telling you, you might get a clearer answer at the Teahouse, I posted a link on your talk page. Theroadislong (talk) 20:19, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia certainly isnt a very user friendly site that's for sure and not at all welcoming!!!! What a shame.--Sticks,stones,bones (talk) 20:21, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia doesn't welcome users who are just here to promote themselves, we are here to build a neutral encyclopedia not further your career! Theroadislong (talk) 22:01, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey its pleasure meeting you. Recently my article " upsc guide" was under review and has been rejected by you. I Would really appreciate if you help me a bit as i am not able to understand why it got rejected. i have put forth 4 references for all credible and legal sites, two of which are newspaper articles and one Indian government site. still the messages i received was it was not from a credible source. so i have no idea how to proceed ahead as these are the references from the web itself. please help me out to sort this issue. thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pratik jadhav111 (talkcontribs) 16:01, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

New article: poet Janine DeBaise --and your associated comment about "Autobiography"

Hej! Thank you for your feedback on my article on poet Janine DeBaise. One note, though--you left me the following message:

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions; however, it appears you may have written a Wikipedia article about yourself, at User:Lauren LaFauci (LiU)/sandbox/Janine DeBaise. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – please see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to or change an existing article about yourself, you are welcome to propose the changes by visiting the article's talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was the page I created deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss this with the deleting administrator. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 14:07, 23 January 2020 (UTC)

I want to clarify that I am not Janine DeBaise. My name is Lauren LaFauci and I am a scholar of environmental humanities. I am not writing an autobiography because I know I do not merit a Wikipedia page.

However, I believe that poet Janine DeBaise does. Given the longstanding and well-documented bias in Wikipedia against women, and especially discounting the works of women in humanities and arts fields, I find this rejection curious. I will attempt to find the references you suggest, but I would appreciate you deleting the note about autobiography from my page--perhaps you have done so already? As a new person to Wikipedia, I find its interfaces extremely confusing! I would never presume to write an autobiography; doing so would be unethical and I am offended by the implication, publicly, on my page. It makes it appear like I am self-promoting or lying. Please delete that comment. Thank you for your attendance to this request.

Taylor Gordon Wiki Help

I have submitted my article about musician and drummer Taylor Gordon twice now and it has been rejected both times. The first time I didn't have enough sourcing. Makes sense; I went back and added more sources. The second time it was rejected, the reason you left was that Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are not reliable sources. While I understand that to be true, my subject gained her success and fame through the spread of her viral drumming videos. So I thought a link to the social sites would be helpful. Also, the social media sources were 5-of-12 sources I used. What was wrong with the other sources?

Your draft Draft:Taylor Gordon would need to pass WP:NMUSICIAN if you think she does feel free to re-submit. Theroadislong (talk) 15:00, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I absolutely do think she meet the musician requirements. Is there a separate place I have to submit to verify that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anthonymcatania (talkcontribs) 15:16, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The draft reads like an advert. Wikipedia has essentially no interest in anything the company has to say about themselves. It is only interested in what people who have no connection with them have chosen to publish about them. The article should be limited to a summary of what such independent sources have said about them. Theroadislong (talk) 21:47, 27 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Possible cross-wiki abuse.

Hello, Theroadislong. I am an administrator at Lusophone Wikipedia (pt.wiki). Well, in the last few days I requested a verification of the Tiago Ghidotti (talk · contribs) account. The result was positive, with eight puppets confirmed. Each puppet has the same goal: to recreate the same spammy biography, and try to keep it.

Some edited Commons by adding photos related to the subject and others edited the Anglophone Wikipedia, creating Draft:Egobrazil. On this page, the focus object is a web portal related to the biographer (eliminated in the Lusophone). Egobrz (talk · contribs) and Egobrz1 (talk · contribs) have been confirmed puppets.

Anyway, I do not have much knowledge of the rules of the anglophone wiki. In addition, the refusal in the Lusophone was considerably more insistent for what I found here (en.wiki). Anyway, I would just like to alert you if you think any administrative interference is necessary. Greetings! Edmond Dantès d'un message? 05:09, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your amazing works on Wikipedia. It is such a great privilege to have an experienced editor like you and i really appreciate how much you have contributed to this encyclopedia (having checked all the badges you have earned). I have put sources and quotes verifiable and reliable. I triple checked if everything was true about the artist.

I didn't receive any money to make this article. Just I found the artist on the net and I think it is worth knowing because he not only introduced a concept in art (holotropic art), but also made a unique painting in the world with over 8200 colors.

Rejected article on Thema

Having added some externally-published articles about Thema to the references section in response to your initial rejection, I feel that the draft article should have been more favourably re-reviewed. In a relatively specialised world like book subject category schemes (or marginally wider, the world of commercial book metadata), it is inevitable that most sources are primary rather than secondary, and are created by a small number of people.

Thema is widely used – particularly in Europe and increasingly in places like India and Japan. Publishers including HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, Macmillan, Hachette, Simon and Schuster and many others use it. Retailers including Amazon and Blackwells use it (it is Amazon's preferred scheme in Europe) and publishing organisations is perhaps 40 countries have contributed to it. It's odd that there isn't a Wikipedia article about it... — Preceding unsigned comment added by EDItEUR staff (talkcontribs) 17:09, 2 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am surprised that this does not meet the criteria as I looked at similar pages by the Royal Society of Chemistry, the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and the Societe Comsetalogique de Francais and they had similar content. This article is to raise awareness of the society and the services that it offers to members as part of our push to show cosmetic science as a possible career choice for school children and graduates alike. Please can you give me some guidance on what I need to do to put the message out without it being seen as an advert for what is a not for profit organisation with the aim to increase awareness of cosmetic science?

Your intention " to raise awareness of the society and the services that it offers to members as part of our push to show cosmetic science as a possible career choice for school children and graduates alike" is against all that Wikipedia is here for. Draft:Gulf Yachting Association

Hi there -- I've gone ahead and added about another ten references including the New York Times to Draft:Gulf Yachting Association that you strangely thought unworthy. If you would like, I'll go ahead and add a primary, secondary and tertiary reference for each year of the 119 year existence of this most prestigious organization. Further, if the Gulf Yachting Association is unworthy of a wikipedia page, then it's curious that eight of the 36 member clubs ARE worthy. Cheers. GulfSails (talk) 07:01, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It's not its existence that's in question, it's its notability. Please click that blue link for an explanation. Citing further sources that mention the Association won't help at all, unless they also discuss it at some length. Maproom (talk) 09:04, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ManoramaMAX Article

Hi, Thank you for your review. Can you tell me how to make the article sound less like an advert? Your feedback is greatly appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Annemmtv (talkcontribs) 10:25, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am a volunteer editor, whilst you are being paid, I suggest you learn how Wikipedia works first by making a few thousand edits to other articles. Help here [3] Please also make the mandatory disclosure of conflict of interest, on your user page. Theroadislong (talk) 16:16, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Widipage Page Declined

Hi there, I want to create wikipedia page for a business, I have created an article on wikipedia and added many proofreading links but the wikipedia declined the business page.. Can anybody please help me how do I get publish article on wikipedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jessi Bennett (talkcontribs) 11:12, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You are being paid to edit, whilst I am a volunteer, I have spent many thousands of hours over 12 years editing Wikipedia, that is how you learn how to publish an article, but be warned writing an article about your own company is one of the MOST difficult tasks here and is not encouraged, I am not prepared to help, if your company is notable, someone unconnected will eventually write an article. Well said

That's telling 'em! (And your reply immediately above, too.) Thank you for your frankness! Note also that the user has made the same request at Wikipedia:WikiProject Articles for creation/Help desk. Bishonen | talk 16:35, 7 February 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Daniel Aged article

Hello!

Thank you for taking the time to review my article twice now. Is there anything specifically that you feel the page is lacking? I would love to be able to get this page up and running (and properly formatted/vetted) so please let me know if there are any specific steps I can take.Audreyne (talk) 22:51, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Audreyne You need to consider how he passes WP:MUSICIAN and find independent reliable sources that support this. Discogs and Wikipedia are not suitable sources. Theroadislong (talk) 23:23, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mai 36 Article Declined

Hi there, many thanks for reviewing my article about Mai 36 [|draft]. I have included more resources and expanded on some areas and have resubmitted it already back in October 2019. Since then, there has not been any feedback so I wanted to kindly ask you if it would be possible for you to take another look at the draft again anytime soon. Thanks in advance for your time and critical review!

I’m not seeing the in-depth coverage that is required to establish notability. Interviews are not considered reliable sources and routine listings and passing mentions are not much help. I’ll leave it for another reviewer to decide but notability does not seem to have been established yet. We have many thousands of articles that need improving, creating new ones (especially poorly sourced ones) is not so imperative. Theroadislong (talk) 15:14, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Global Panel Foundation

Dear Theroadislong,

Thank you for reviewing Global Panel Foundation.

I wanted to reach out to you about it, because I feel like you are making false accusations on there. I'm not getting paid for making the article, and as Wikipedia can see, I'm not related or working for the organisation. I'm Belgian-based (as you can see on my IP), so there's no connection to the organisation.

Besides that, I don't understand why it would not be encylopedic. Since the organisation, is mainly an English organisation, but has an approved article in the German wikipedia version. The references include several newspaper articles (one even dating back to 2003) directly dealing with the organisation in internationally recognised media(Welt, Bloomberg, ... ).

I hope you can further elaborate on how to complete the article, or accept it.

Best regards, IntRelations123 — Preceding unsigned comment added by IntRelations123 (talkcontribs) 11:26, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The fact that there is an article in the German Wikipedia has no bearing on this one, English Wikipedia has stricter standards for inclusion. It reads in a promotional manner which leads one to surmise that the creator has a conflict of interest and these are your only edits on Wikipedia. My apologies I should not have declined your draft as vandalism but because, we already have an article called Meaning of life.

Draft: Graduate Hotels

Hi! You left a note on my article for Graduate Hotels that it felt like a conflict of interest when reading. I have since edited the piece to be more objective and included more citations from relevant news sources. Could you please review again? Would love to get my first page published!

Thank you, Eagate23 (talk) 19:38, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
