Thank you for noticing my silly error. Initially, I was going to have the name on top of the Infobox be "InfoCision Stadium", with "Summa Field at InfoCision Stadium" listed under "Full name." I forgot to change the top title, and ended up accidentally putting "Summa Field at InfoCision Stadium" in the "Former name", instead of "Full name." Do you think I should leave it as is, or have the shortened title sitting on top of the box with the full name listed below? JEN9841 (talk) 07:27, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- That's a good question, since there are articles that both support full title in the top (see: Bobby Bowden Field at Doak Campbell Stadium and Bobby Dodd Stadium) as well as only the stadium name (fellow MAC stadium Huskie Stadium and Bronco Stadium). I would guess it's your call, since both would work. By the way, great pictures and I'm glad to see you were at the game yesterday. –Nav talk to me or sign my guestbook 12:18, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
Commons
[edit]Do you have an account at Wikimedia Commons? If not, I would highly recommend getting one (can use your Wikipedia name) and transferring your public domain images there. That way, they're easier to find and place in other articles that may need them. If you have an questions, please let me know! --JonRidinger (talk) 19:05, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- Actually I don't, but I'll definitely have to take a look at it. Thanks for letting me know! By the way, a lot of the images that I've uploaded so far are logos and I was wondering if you knew the policy about how large the logo has to be. It says in WP:LOGO that "Logos uploaded to Wikipedia must be low resolution and no larger than necessary", but I find this kind of vague. You can see some of the images that I uploaded and one recently File:2010 MAC Tournament Logo.png was tagged as being too big. I reduced it, but do you think I should reduce it further? Thanks! –Nav talk to me or sign my guestbook 19:30, 2 November 2009 (UTC)
- For any of your public domain images, like File:Akron Zips football vs Ohio Bobcats 2009.JPG, I would definitely upload them at the Commons. It's much easier to categorize and keep track of them. Once you upload them there with the same file name, just tag the file on Wikipedia with {{NowCommons}} and it will get deleted, but none of the articles that use the picture will even notice since both Commons and Wikipedia use the same file names and format. For fair-use images like logos, first off, thanks for all you've done with those! I have uploaded a few (see User:JonRidinger/Images#Fair-use images I have uploaded) and from what I can tell, the best thing with size is basically to make it close to the size it would be in an infobox. Basically, you need it big enough to give a basic idea, but not big enough that people can download it and start printing off merchandise using it. I tend to upload it just slightly larger than the size it would be in the infobox, like for File:KSU seal.png. This gives a little flexibility in size adjustments, but is still low enough resolution. Generally, it seems around 300 x 300px is pretty safe (that will vary for images that are really long or really tall of course). --JonRidinger (talk) 17:09, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:MLS SuperDraft 2010.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:MLS SuperDraft 2010.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 04:24, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
Running for Local Election
[edit]Nav,
I was looking at some of your edits and thought that the following might interest you.
I am currently working on a project online with a few friends that strives to empower common people who wish to run for local office. We hope to provide a resource that might enable people to realize that anyone can run and contribute. We are an assortment of passionate individuals who wish to help demystify the process.
I was hoping that you might be able to provide some advice. I am currently working on identifying a number of things (1) what questions we must ask and answer, (2) what resources are currently available, (3) individuals experienced in the various realms (funding, legal, marketing, building a campaign team) that might provide some insight, and (4) success stories from common people who have successfully run for local office.
I am aware that you don't focus on this but you have touched on a number of these topics and felt you could provide some insight. Any advice, recommendations, or guidance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Please see WP:NC-ZH#Administrative for some guidelines on disambiguation for township-level article titles. In summary:
- For towns (镇)
- "Town" is appended only if, for example, 1) S Subdistrict and S Town are administered by the same county-level division (city, county, or district) 2) C Town has the exact same name as C County.
- A town T would be titled at "T (town)", if no other topic named T is a settlement.
- For townships (乡), append "Township" at the end of each title.
- For subdistricts (街道), append "Subdistrict"
- Conventions for geographic disambiguation: Use the prefecture-level city if part of a district. Use the county(-level city), not the prefecture-level city, if part of a county or county-level city.
Any questions?
PS: Jiyuan, as a sub-prefecture level city, is officially a county-level city. There is no such as a "township-level city" as occurs in the ROC. —HXL's Roundtable and Record 04:22, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

Is it appropriate to put this logo into the infobox? Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:21, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
- I was actually just looking at that now as a matter of fact. If you look on the Nanjing South Railway Station page, you'll see there are three different template styles for three different navboxes. What I believe is standard in Wikipedia is to use the {{S-line}} template instead of individual navboxes for each line. I'm looking into it now and might replace all of those templates with the succession boxes. –Nav talk to me or sign my guestbook 14:34, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
- Okay. I'll leave those decisions up to you. You seem to be up to speed. I was actually referring to the infobox in the article, not the navbox at the bottom. There never seems to be an official homepage for these railways from which to grab a logo. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 14:39, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
- Oh, sorry about that. I was looking in the wrong direction. You're probably right, other equivalent articles (such as Wolverine (train) and Lake Shore Limited have a picture of a train on that railway instead of the logo. –Nav talk to me or sign my guestbook 14:43, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

Getting Wikimedians to the Olympic Games
[edit]Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. WikiProject Elections and Referendums article tagging
[edit]Hi Nav. Sorry to have to post directly on your talk page, but you may have noticed (on the WP:Elections and referendums talk page) that I am trying to get all the election and referendum articles tagged for the project. Could you possibly comment on the proposal at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Elections and Referendums#Bot to tag articles for the WikiProject, as I'm getting rather frustrated by the attitude of the people at WP:BTR. Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Nav. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Nav~enwiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name. If you think you might own all of the accounts with this name and this message is in error, please visit Special:MergeAccount to check and attach all of your accounts to prevent them from being renamed.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invitation to the African Destubathon
[edit]Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:14, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

2019 US Banknote Contest
[edit]US Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
