DYK

As I've mentioned at DYK, the result is on that source. You've just not noticed it. Please go back and look again. Also, if you could read my full argument at the DYK area, it would be appreciated. Cheers. Paralympiakos (talk) 23:03, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi PinkBull, I've added some alternative hook suggestiond for this nomination. Your thoughts would be welcome. EdChem (talk) 16:41, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see you moved 2010 Tucson to 2010 Fina Junior Diving Championships. I know you didn't create it, but FYI I've prodded the article. The article contributor's past contributions leave a lot to be desired and he shows no signs of willing to take feedback into consideration. He created 2010 Tucson as a link from Michael Hixon, which he started, was prodded, then saved and expanded by myself. If he continues along his current path creating articles like these in violation of notability guidelines and WP:CRYSTAL whilst at the same time making no effort to appreciate these concerns and to write the articles in wikimarkup despite conversation telling him to do so, I'll probably need to get some sort of intervention, maybe at RFC/User. Strange Passerby (talk) 01:32, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for letting me know. I intended to correct that stylistic issues, not to delve so deeply into the subject matter. Sincerely,--PinkBull 03:25, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Pink Bull. Your concerns at the DYK nomination of the Onneca Fortúnez article have been addressed. There are now a dozen inline citations backing up the hook. Regards. --BomBom (talk) 20:01, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. The Alt hook is now verified.--PinkBull 20:15, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good call with starting that. We'll expand it later. I disagreed with your removal of the explanation about the hotel teahcing customs though. Dr. Blofeld 09:59, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"The Monastery Among The Temple Trees" listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect "The Monastery Among The Temple Trees". Since you had some involvement with the "The Monastery Among The Temple Trees" redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion (if you have not already done so). Nomination of "George Garvin Brown III" for deletion

[edit]

A discussion has begun about whether the article "George Garvin Brown III", which you created or to which you contributed, should be deleted. While contributions are welcome, an article may be deleted if it is inconsistent with Wikipedia policies and guidelines for inclusion, explained in the deletion policy.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/"George Garvin Brown III" until a consensus is reached, and you are welcome to contribute to the discussion.

You may edit the article during the discussion, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. CTJF83 chat 03:49, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I was only involved in moving the page.--PinkBull 04:21, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA). First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - South Asian American Digital Archive. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at South Asian American Digital Archive - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. PinkBull 04:06, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Horace Dimick

[edit]

Dear Pink Bull. Thank you for your assistance in editing my article on Horace E. Dimick. Unfortunately, I cannot edit the new top title "Horace Dimick" to add his middle initial "E." which is important, since his trade name was simply "H.E. Dimick", and that is how he is known to historians of 19th century firearms. Can you add the "E." for me, or instruct me on how to do it. Thank you very much. James — Preceding unsigned comment added by WSS Regt Historian (talkcontribs) 02:07, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This would take a move. I reverted you here because the bold name in the lead section must match the article title per title guidelines. In the case of Dimick, either a page Horace E. Dimick may be created and redirected (easiest) or it can be moved and a redirect left with the current title. The 66th Illinois Regiment should not be renamed however.
⋙–Berean–Hunter—► ((⊕)) 02:34, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
As Berean said, it requires a page move. After a number of edits (I think a 100), editors are given the "move" power, a tab on the top of each page that would allow the article to be moved to another name. For article names Wikipedia's policy says to name an article after the most common name, not the official name. See WP:COMMONNAME. My cursory Google search indicated that more sources referred to him simply as "Horace Dimick" then with an initial formulation. --PinkBull 03:18, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
...for a person, yes. Military units, no. Green Berets are the common name but click through to find the official name. Nothing military should be called by their nicknames. The applicable guideline is WP:MILMOS#UNITNAME.
⋙–Berean–Hunter—► ((⊕)) 03:27, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In case my first comment was ambiguous, I am referring to Horace Dimick only, not any military units. I believe we are on the same page.--PinkBull 03:49, 13 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
We are. I'm leaving that for WSS's benefit. He is wanting to alter a unit name to include a common name. As he is new, I didn't want to confuse him. See the rest of our conversation for context. Thanks, PB.

Some things I want to discuss

[edit]

1. First of all, I think should be a category for "Central African people of ethnic or national origin" because every other country on wikipedia has a category for people's ethnicity so I thought Central African people should have that category. 2. Hikaru_Sulu on his wikipedia page says he is of Filipino descent so there should be a category that says :Fictional_American_people_of_Filipino_descent. 3. There should be a category for Fictional people with ADHD or Fictional people with Dyslexia. Percy_jackson is listed under both. 4. I would like to make an article about the novel More Than Weird. Here's an article about it: http://www.umanitoba.ca/cm/cmarchive/vol16no4/morethanweird.html I don't know why it was deleted. 5. I would like to add a summary for the movie The_Seventh_Coin. Could someone help me with that? Thank you! Neptunekh2 (talk) 05:24, 17 December 2010 (UTC) 17 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for the very belated response, I haven't logged in a while. I will provide you with a more detailed response in the near future.--PinkBull 21:09, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I see from your contribution history that some of your questions have been answered. Please let me know if any of your questions remain unanswered. Thanks, --PinkBull 21:15, 21 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Martyn_Godfrey

[edit]

Hi! Could you do me a favor? Would you mind cleaning up an article about an English-author? Here's the link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martyn_Godfrey Also I wonder if the Category:American_Christians should go in the Ann_Dunham article because it says she was Christian.

Thanks Neptunekh2 (talk)`
I cleaned up the Godfrey article a bit. Not sure about the American Christian category for Dunham. The section in the article dedicated to her beliefs appears not to support her being a Christian.--PinkBull 02:28, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A few things I need to discuss

[edit]

1. Should Atlin,_British_Columbia go under the category Stikine_Country? 2. Should Alyson_Hannigan go under the category Category American people of Jewish descent since she is Jewish on her Mother's side? 3. Is it OK if I an article for the book called More Than Weird by English author Martyn_Godfrey? 4. Could you help help write a plot summary for the movie The_Seventh_Coin? I find a summary from this website:http://www.movieguide.org/reviews/movie/the-seventh-coin.html But I need help putting the summary into my own words. Thanks! Neptunekh2 (talk) 04:07, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I will try to look into these matters when I get a chance. My real life is very busy at the moment, however.--PinkBull 18:47, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Macbeth in scots, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Zad68 (talk) 16:05, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
