... for improving articles in January! Today - 20 in 2020 - is a birthday, she is pictured on the lower choir pic, enjoy listening. - DYK that I wanted to write the article about the soprano today, only to find out that I gave her that DYK in 2013 ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:29, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you Gerda Arendt. I am really enjoying writing about Central American women. So overlooked in our coverage. SusunW (talk) 16:52, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for doing that. I enjoy having a woman on the Main page today who made the impossible possible, - we should do the same ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:59, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/Inter-Allied Women's Conference, please check if you can support, and modify the blurb. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 00:32, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for doing this @Gerda Arendt and Gog the Mild:. Is it weird for me to support, or is that a normal part of the process? Seems like I am endorsing myself? The blurb seems fine, even if "The women′s conference was convened after the war to introduce women′s issues to the process" is a bit redundant. I'm afraid if one replaced the 2nd women with their, it would be unclear and could be read to be issues of the Central Powers. SusunW (talk) 16:22, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- No problem. Yes it is normal for you to support get in there! I agree re it needing both "women's", even if it does look odd. I have given the blurb a couple of tweaks you will want to check. Gog the Mild (talk) 16:42, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- The procedure is as follows (which I had forgotten myself): as soon as an article receives the FA star, Dank writes a blurb on the FAC's talk. And thank you for doing that, Dan! Discussion can begin right then. Now that the TFAR is open, I think to discuss there is fair. Dan, you will know that it's Susun's first FA, so first FAC. Susun, you don't have to support but it's normal. The days of counting "votes" there, and calculating other features such as rareness, are past, and I haven't seen any reasonable request fail in a long time. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:13, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- I'm very happy to see this article at TFAR and to see more biographies of women anywhere on the Main Page. Keep them coming! - Dank (push to talk) 17:23, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- Dank, thank you. As is quite clear from the list of articles I have written, I do focus mostly on historical women ;). Promoting them is hard for me, but the writing part and researching part is enjoyable and allows me to learn so much about the gaps in our knowledge about women's history. I rely on people like Gog and Gerda to help me along in introducing them to a broader audience. SusunW (talk) 17:30, 26 January 2020 (UTC)
- Gog and Gerda are excellent choices to rely on. - Dank (push to talk) 17:46, 26 January 2020 (UTC)

The Great Britain/Ireland Destubathon
Hi. The Wikipedia:The Great Britain/Ireland Destubathon is planned for March 2020, a contest/editathon to eliminate as many stubs as possible from all 134 counties. Amazon vouchers/book prizes are planned for most articles destubbed from England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland and Northern Ireland and whoever destubs articles from the most counties out of the 134. Sign up on page if interested in participating, hope this will prove to be good fun and productive, we have over 44,000 stubs! Hoping to get an extra prize for women bios!♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:23, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks Dr. Blofeld. Surely I can manage a few women's bios for you, though I doubt I will be anywhere near in the running for a prize :) SusunW (talk) 15:47, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks Susun! Yes "contest" isn't the point, that's partly why I've not bothered with a Wikimedia grant request for a larger prize fund. While a larger prize fund is more attractive it was clear from the Women contest that very few contestants are only doing it just for money. I hope this will give editors motivation to improve existing articles which are often neglected. Editors are welcome to obliterate C-B class articles and bios which are poorly sourced and rewrite it, so even if you did a few articles on some particularly notable women redrafted that would be warmly welcome. If there is significant WIR support I may allow new bios to be created as part of it, but it is a Destubathon, we badly need a mechanism for people to work on existing content too. Thanks, did you get all your GA noms reviewed afterwards?♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:00, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
- As you know, this goes along with my modus operandi, Dr. Blofeld, quality over quantity any day. If we can improve the quality of the articles we already have, everyone gains. As for the GA, they are trickling in. I think I am down to 8 pending LOL. SusunW (talk) 16:05, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
- What are they? I'll will try to review a few next week.♦ Dr. Blofeld 16:34, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you so much, that would be cool. Oldest to newest: Marie Rennotte (Belgium/Brazil), Annie MacDonald Langstaff (Canada), Nino Tkeshelashvili (Georgia), Maria Grzegorzewska (Poland), Martha Watts (US/Brazil), Alma Sundquist (Sweden), Marie Lang (Austria). I'll do the Nino one this coming week. I can't believe it was over four months ago I did the last review, time passes increasingly quickly!!♦ Dr. Blofeld 22:37, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
Nancy Clarke
Thanks for all your work on these topics. This article seems to have a couple of typos that would be better fixed by someone who knows the subject: Clarke's slave is alternately named 'Staira'/'Satira' (not sure which is correct) and I'm assuming "She manumitted a slave name Scipio there in 1810" is just meant to read "slaved named Scipio"? (I was quite confused when I read it since I didn't know what manumitted meant.) The Drover's Wife (talk) 22:11, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
- The Drover's Wife thanks! Ian usually follows along behind me and cleans up typos :). I fixed these and appreciate your pointing out the issues. It takes a village! SusunW (talk) 22:38, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of Nino Tkeshelashvili
The article Nino Tkeshelashvili you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Nino Tkeshelashvili for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already been on the main page as an "In the news" or "Did you know" item, you can nominate it to appear in Did you know. Edith Hern Fossett
Edith Hern Fossett is up for GA reveiw. As it coincides very much with your own interests, I was wondering whether you would like to take it on as a reviewer or maybe participate in further improvement. (cc CaroleHenson).--Ipigott (talk) 11:26, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- @Ipigott and CaroleHenson: I need to finish Henrietta Sala, and though I am really uncomfortable doing GA reviews, I get that I need to learn the skill involved. Writing is so much easier than critiquing to me. But that being said, I will give this one a go, if you are willing to allow me to learn the process on the article. Please give me a couple of days to get to it. SusunW (talk) 15:55, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- That's good news. Like you, I'm not happy doing reviews either but I think you really have the necessary skills and experience. I'm sure you will be able to give good advice when it's needed. Let me know if you need any assistance. It will certainly help Carole to receive your feedback. No rush on this. Take your time with Madame Sala. It seems to be coming on very well.--Ipigott (talk) 16:27, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks very much, @Ipigott and SusunW:. I really appreciate it... and will absolutely appreciate input you may have!–CaroleHenson (talk) 16:55, 11 February 2020 (UTC)

- I don't know if you use templates or not, but I find them very helpful for me to go step-by-step through the GA review. See Wikipedia:Good article nominations/templates. If it is too much to take on, I will absolutely appreciate any feedback you have.–CaroleHenson (talk) 17:02, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- CaroleHenson: Susun's not too technical -- so I think she should choose how she wants to format things on the basis of the many GA reviews she has participated in herself.--Ipigott (talk) 17:14, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Indeed, I am not remotely technical, but shall wade through and see how it goes. :) SusunW (talk) 17:18, 11 February 2020 (UTC)

- Not remotely a problem CaroleHenson, I truly will take any help I can get, but Ian speaks truth, I find wikitech to be not intuitive and often find it difficult to navigate. SusunW (talk) 17:40, 11 February 2020 (UTC)

IAW Conference
I'd rather not get sucked into a discussion on the talk page, but I would advise you stick to your guns about the possible inclusion of the table. It's terrible. Awful. It breaches the MoS and the article wouldn't have got through FAC with it on the page - and that should tell you enough about how bad it is! The changes to the image captions is something to consider, as it will change the gallery into something that holds relevant information as well as the images. I don't push the point tho: I will leave it to your discretion as to whether you decide to action it or not. Maybe Gog or Ipiggot will have a view on whether it's a good idea or not - both are excellent editors and will be able to advise accordingly. Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 16:00, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you SchroCat. I really appreciate your input, as I have repeatedly said I have no experience and rely on others to guide me. You literally made me laugh with your comment above. SusunW (talk) 16:13, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
- I'll take a more careful look at the translated nouns tomorrow but I can't see there are any major problems. As for Sandy's table, in its earlier stages the article simply contained a list of the participants and I suggested it would be far better expressed as running text (as it is now). At one point there was a suggestion that it might be useful to include a table in the form of a separate article but not as part of the article itself. I agree with SchroCat that things are far better left as they are. Maybe one or two minor changes could be made but nothing drastic.--Ipigott (talk) 16:55, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
- The main problem seems to be italics for the names of foreign institutions. I've checked a number of reliable style guides and discover that Sandy is quite right: the names of foreign institutions should not be italicized. I've therefore removed the italics where necessary. Glad my attention has finally been drawn to this problem.--Ipigott (talk) 07:30, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
- As you have noticed, I did a bit of work on this on the Inter-Allied Women's Conference but I also tried to sort out the italics problem on most of the other articles on women's organizations. Many have been caused by Template:Lang (which italicizes unless you tell it not to) but others are a result of my own misinterpretation of internationally accepted rules. There may be further cleaning up to do. Please let me know if you come across any problems.--Ipigott (talk) 15:49, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
- Ipigott I think it will be a massive job to change them all. Just contemplating the number of foreign women I have written about and the number of organizations that belonged to is overwhelming. I truly appreciate your help. I only found one you missed and added an English translation for the National Women's Union in Milan. I do question the name of the Archives du Féminisme at the University of Angers; that has always seemed weird to me. SusunW (talk) 15:59, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
- As Archives du Féminisme is an association, I think the italics should be removed.--Ipigott (talk) 16:25, 13 February 2020 (UTC)
- The capitalization is also weird to me. SusunW (talk) 17:00, 13 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I could still nominate your article for GA tonight or tomorrow. I came up with this hook:
- ... that Nino Tkeshelashvili, an early Georgian feminist, hosted debates in which women discussed social issues such as prostitution, education for the poor, and women's health and sexuality?
But I don't see these topics in the sources. I only see her involvement in the Caucasian Women's Society in Beraia. I ran the Georgian text through Google Translate but don't see any of the topics of the debates. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 21:40, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
("Nino Tkeshelashvili led literary evenings and performances, inviting speakers to introduce their listeners to the lives of the Russian classics ... their lives, their works and the social issues of the time. The working women themselves made declarations, debated the issues discussed, and more. The work of the Caucasian Women's Society was also interesting in that it fought vigorously to uphold the woman's moral standards. Nino Tkeshelashvili was active in this campaign"); Beraia: "the establishment Caucasian Women's Society (CWS) in 1909. The CWS was demanding political (electoral) rights for women, also was interested by prostitution and in fighting this 'social evil'."
- (მელაშვილმა & გაფრინდაშვილმა took the speeches made by 5 feminists in 1917 on tour in Tbilisi in 2018 to bring awareness about the issues the feminist of that era thought were important.) Among them: "ნინო ტყეშელაშვილმა - სუფრაჟისტი, “კავკასიელ ქალთა საზოგადოების”... წამოთქვა საჯარო სიტყვა ქალთა პოლიტიკური მონაწილეობის აუცილებლობაზე" ("Nino Tkeshelashvili, suffragist, Caucasian Women's Society...She spoke publicly about the need for women's political participation"), "ფემინისტები ასევე ბევრს მსჯელობდნენ ქალთა ჯამრთელობისა და სექსუალობის საკითხებზე" ("Feminists talked a lot about women's health and sexuality"), გააცნობიერეს ქართული სკოლების დაფუძნების აუცილებლობა ("They realized the need to establish Georgian schools"), ღარიბ გოგონებსაც აძლევდა განათლების მიღების საშუალებას ("allowing poor girls access to education"), ქალის შრომა ჯერ კიდევ დიდხანს იქნება პატივაყრილი ("The hard work of women must be honored for a long time"). If you aren't happy with that, feel free to make adjustments to the article. You know I don't mind. I appreciate your work at DYK and on this one, but it isn't necessary to nominate any of my work there unless you just want to do it. SusunW (talk) 22:50, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
New York Times archive
Hi, I haven't seen your name at DYK lately, but I see you're plenty busy! I was wondering if you or anyone you know has access to the New York Times archive. I'm trying to access this article. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 22:09, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah, yes, quite busy and pretty much ignoring DYK, as it just always seems contentious to me. I do not have access to the NY Times archives. I checked both newspapers.com and newspaperarchive.com and neither carried the Times' obituary, though there are numerous other obits for her if you would like those. SusunW (talk) 22:24, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, I would like more information than I have in my article Virginia Walker. I have nothing about her being a Boston society girl. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 22:26, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah Okay, give me a few and I'll post some of them here. SusunW (talk) 22:37, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah, I think these will help.[1] and [2], [3], [4], [5]. Let me know if you need me to search anything else. SusunW (talk) 22:54, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Wow, I just opened the first 2, and they're great! Thank you so much! It's bedtime now; I'll look at more tomorrow. Your really appreciative friend, Yoninah (talk) 22:57, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- You're very welcome. Any time. SusunW (talk) 23:01, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah, the article is looking great. Two more tidbits if you want them, Virginia's middle name was May and her mother was Eva M. (née Perry).[6] and according to her brother, who was the informant of her personal information at her death, she died from cervical cancer and was born 31 July 1916 in Boston.[7] SusunW (talk) 23:02, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you! I don't think that familysearch.org is a RS, though. I'm also having a big dilemma about her birth and death dates. I asked for a volunteer at Find a Grave to take a picture of her gravestone to verify the dates, and they did so pretty quickly—see here. The problem is that the gravestone lists her dates as 1909–1947. Her niece, who put up the Find a Grave page, lists the dates as 1908–1946. And most media reports say she died at the end of 1946 at the age of 30—but that would be impossible, seeing as her father died in 1912. Now I'm stumped. What do you do if there is so much conflicting evidence? Yoninah (talk) 21:00, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah FamilySearch is definitely a reliable source. It is actual photocopies of actual primary records. That tombstone helped a lot (even though wp does not think Find-a-Grave is a reliable source). I did a search on FamilySearch with William Homer Walker as father and Eva Mary Perry as mother for births between 1903 and 1912. 3 results: William Jr. 23 June 1903 (line 2); John E. 29 March 1907 (#2262); and unknown female 31 July 1908 (5 up from the bottom). All 3 show father as a lawyer and parents living at the same address of 38 Arlington Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts, the city where each child was also born. So, clearly the 1908 date is correct. Her death certificate says she died on 23 December 1946 at 3:40 p.m. (You don't have to pay to create a sign-in for family search and see the records). SusunW (talk) 21:34, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
- The link to the 1908 birth is the same as that for the 1903 birth. How do you do a search? Yoninah (talk) 21:48, 15 February 2020 (UTC)

(née Perry).[6] and according to her brother, who was the informant of her personal information at her death, she died from cervical cancer and was born 31 July 1916 in Boston.[7] SusunW (talk) 23:02, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
- You're very welcome. Any time. SusunW (talk) 23:01, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Wow, I just opened the first 2, and they're great! Thank you so much! It's bedtime now; I'll look at more tomorrow. Your really appreciative friend, Yoninah (talk) 22:57, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah, I think these will help.[1] and [2], [3], [4], [5]. Let me know if you need me to search anything else. SusunW (talk) 22:54, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah Okay, give me a few and I'll post some of them here. SusunW (talk) 22:37, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, I would like more information than I have in my article Virginia Walker. I have nothing about her being a Boston society girl. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 22:26, 11 February 2020 (UTC)
Sorry, that's what happens when you have a bunch of links open at the same time *sigh* 1908. To search, just go to the top 2nd tab, search records and then input what you want. The issue on her is that there wasn't a name, so it didn't find Virginia, but did find unnamed female. SusunW (talk) 22:53, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. It's obviously her, as it lists the parents, and we have that obituary that says they had only one daughter. But what about the birth year? Is it 1908 or 1909? Yoninah (talk) 22:59, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah 1908. Up at the top where it says image #35 type in 6 and hit enter. It confirms the year at the start of the volume. SusunW (talk) 23:03, 15 February 2020 (UTC)
Your GA nomination of Nino Tkeshelashvili
Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Nino Tkeshelashvili you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Dr. Blofeld -- Dr. Blofeld (talk) 22:41, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks Dr. Blofeld! I really appreciate it. SusunW (talk) 22:46, 2 February 2020 (UTC)
Will review today! Can you find anything on Sālote Tupou III, for such a long ruling monarch the article tells me practically nothing about her life! No worries if you're busy.♦ Dr. Blofeld 10:22, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks Dr. Blofeld. I'll look at her as soon as I finish my series of women related to Dorothy Thomas. Have 2 more to do. SusunW (talk) 15:20, 8 February 2020 (UTC)
Perhaps KAVEBEAR can help, they do a lot of great work on Pacific Island royality.♦ Dr. Blofeld 13:25, 10 February 2020 (UTC)
- Dr. Blofeld, I understand why the bio on Tupou is in the shape that it is. I can find snippets of info, but none of the major works on her are available on line to me. Elizabeth Wood-Ellem's book Queen Salote of Tonga: The Story of an Era 1900-1965 based on Wood-Ellem's doctoral thesis, is from what I can discover the most authoritative book on her life and politics. Margaret Hixon's Sālote: Queen of Paradise is a more intimate view of Tupou's biography. I think that if one wanted to truly make a comprehensive article, access to those would be necessary. I have no way to access to either of these books and have no public libraries anywhere near to me. Perhaps as you say Kavebear has better ways and means to develop the article? SusunW (talk) 17:38, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
How odd! The biography is over £400 on Amazon too!! Almost as if somebody is trying to keep her life private by keeping info offline!♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:20, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, it's weird. I even searched for the doctoral thesis and couldn't find it either, though as it was done in 1981, I didn't have high hopes. SusunW (talk) 16:00, 16 February 2020 (UTC)
Hi again. Every time I watch an old movie, I look to see if I can improve an article about one of the (usually) child actors. I was able to connect this living person with his current career as a real estate agent, but I am missing verification of his birthdate, birthplace, parents, how he got into acting, etc. Would your Newspapers.com subscription turn up any biographies or interviews of him? Please don't spend too much time on this. I once had a subscription to Newspapers.com, but didn't get much out of it at the time. Maybe I should renew it. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 00:46, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah, I find hardly anything. There is this[8] and some reviews of Titanic. I suspect he is this guy,[9] but having no other info to confirm it, or an actual document I wouldn't use this to confirm he was born in 1939. SusunW (talk) 14:37, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, this is him! I'm going to use the familysearch.org source for the birthdate and birthplace. Thank you so much! (I just registered to renew my newspapers.com account too.) Thanks again, Yoninah (talk) 19:26, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah Glad to help. Even if you renew your subscription, I'm glad to help any time. Research is hard and it often requires multiple heads to figure stuff out :) SusunW (talk) 19:32, 20 February 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks. I know it takes time to do these clippings, so I do appreciate your help! Yoninah (talk) 19:48, 20 February 2020 (UTC)

DYK for Nino Tkeshelashvili
On 22 February 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Nino Tkeshelashvili, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Nino Tkeshelashvili and other early Georgian feminists campaigned to uphold women's "moral standards", labeling prostitution a "social evil"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Nino Tkeshelashvili. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Nino Tkeshelashvili), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I was thinking it might be good form to review one of the women in green nominees and found your article about Marie Rennotte. Would you mind if I reviewed it? I don't know if there's a norm that people shouldn't switch back and forth between the nominee and reviewer roles.–CaroleHenson (talk) 01:25, 22 February 2020 (UTC)
- CaroleHenson, I'd be very happy to have you review her. I don't know if there is a rule about who reviews what. As long as the criteria is met, it's met to my mind. Thank you! SusunW (talk) 05:12, 22 February 2020 (UTC)

- I got a "thumbs up", so I will start the review. I won't get much done tonight, but I will at least start the page.–CaroleHenson (talk) 02:49, 23 February 2020 (UTC)

Yay! My renewal request for Newspapers.com was granted, though it will take a few weeks to process. Meanwhile, I just created this article about a child actress. I'm wondering if you can find any newspaper clippings about her graduating from North Hollywood High School, or signing as a contract player to dance in Hollywood films. Once she moves to Las Vegas in 1952, she's known as Lee Kuney and then marries Arthur (Buddy) Grover; it would be nice to find some kind of wedding announcement. I already have what I need after her second marriage to Kenneth Feldman in 1972. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 00:19, 24 February 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah Not a lot out there, but these may help.[10],[11],[12],[13] Glad you got your renewal, but still happy to help anytime. SusunW (talk) 06:16, 24 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi,
I was looking through the GA nominees and the first one of interest to me is your article about Dorothy Thomas (entrepreneur). I am going to start the review, but feel free to take your time since we just finished Marie Rennotte.–CaroleHenson (talk) 19:29, 25 February 2020 (UTC)

Brilliant - always impressed by the quality of your work, but wonderful to see Semane Setlhoko Khama. A comments... and a question
As a heads up, I made some copy edits to the Dorothy Thomas article last night: here. It won't hurt my feelings at all if you make major changes. I hope it's much better than it started out yesterday.
I put a question into wp:Women in Green about where to post a new article that is being formed right now. I didn't get a response, maybe nothing should be posted until its GA ready?? I am working on Guyanese composer Valerie Rodway - a cool, soulful woman. A person or bot added it for me last time I had an addition and I think Ippigot added the other for me. For some reason that site really confuses me. Any suggestions or specific page I should post it on?–CaroleHenson (talk) 19:55, 27 February 2020 (UTC)
- Hey CaroleHenson I answered you there. I'll have a look at Thomas, I am sure it is fine. SusunW (talk) 20:01, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

Request for help
@ SusunW Hello,
Requesting to add article Aurat March to your 'watch list'.
While I am steadily working on article to improve further as suggested in notification template. Article has come across 1'st anon vandalism attack (clearly of misogynist nature), which has now been reversed.
Please see if you can add article Aurat March to your 'watch list' at least until 12/15 March so any repetition of intentional vandalism can be duly reversed.
Thanks & warm regards

- @Dr. Blofeld and Ipigott: okay, it's done. Perhaps Ian can add a bit more, but the basic outline is there. Back to work on my Irish folklorist who wrote the "seminal study of Irish food". As a foodie, well, she deserves and article ;) SusunW (talk) 00:44, 7 March 2020 (UTC)
- Dr. Blofeld Thanks to Susun, it's now an interesting, informative biography. It might be worthwhile writing an article on Estonian folk dance. There's a good account we could draw on here.--Ipigott (talk) 08:04, 7 March 2020 (UTC)

His own, his conductor, and the one to whom he dedicated his opera Savonarola, and I watched it. He comes with a cute old image - not that you see much of him, but a famous woman's back - and a great old YouTube recording, which had been seen 10 times when I met it, - I hope that will change now ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:44, 6 February 2020 (UTC)

Hi, I nominated this for DYK. The source about her changing the language from German to English doesn't seem to say that she re-translated it, but that she deliberately wrote it in English. Is that correct? Or do you have another source that says her doctoral thesis submitted in 1942 was a re-translation? Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 01:16, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah Treija (2019) says she "purposefully chose to change her dissertation language from German to English". Clearly to me indicates that it was in German and she changed it, but there isn't any more precise language. All the other sources just say it was in English and she did a shorter abbreviated translation to Latvian. SusunW (talk) 07:13, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
- OK, so that means to me that she was planning to write it in German (maybe that was the acceptable language then?) and she purposely chosen to write it in English instead. So I think the article and hook language are ok. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 12:05, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
- Yoninah, I think your text is fine. She worked on it for many years, so my guess is that the initial proposal was at least made in German, otherwise, one wouldn't "change" it. Thank you so much for nominating this one and Skarzhynska. You are so much better at it than I am. SusunW (talk) 15:48, 9 March 2020 (UTC)
